Book excerpt: El presente trabajo de investigacion, fue realizado en 283 trabajadores de la salud pertenecientes al HCMM(185) y el IPSS(98) de Juliaca, entre los meses de enero y febrero de 1997. Los objetivos fueron: evaluar los conocimientos relacionados al VIH/SIDA y sus normas de bioseguridad, determinar las actitudes del personal medico y paramedico del HCMM y el IPSS en relacion al VIH/SIDA comparar los conocimientos sobre VIH/SIDA y sus normas de bioseguridad entre el personal Medico y Para-Medico del HCMM y del IPSS, comparar las actitudes sobre VIH/SIDA y normas de bioseguridad entre el personal medico y para-medico del HCMM y del IPSS, y relacionar los conocimientos con las actitudes sobre VIH/SIDA y sus normas de bioseguridad en la poblacion en estudio. El diseno del trabajo fue analitico y de corte transversal. El cuestionario de conocimientos y actitudes sobre VIH/SIDA y normas de bioseguridad consto de 20 items cada uno. Los resultados muestran que los conocimientos sobre VIH/SIDA y normas de bioseguridad son en general buenos para los distintos grupos ocupacionales de ambos hospitales, con una media de 14.52 n 2.64 DS HCMM y 14.69 n 2.85 DS IPSS. Los trabajadores en ambos hospitales conocen mas acerca del area de conocimientos generales de VIH/SIDA que de las normas de bioseguridad. Existe diferencia estadisticamente significativa entre el total de los grupos ocupacionales en cada hospital. Las actitudes de los trabajadores son en general buenas, adecuadas, favorables o positivas para los distintos grupos ocupacionales de ambos hospitales. Se encontro que las actitudes difieren en forma estadisticamente significativa en los grupos ocupacionales en ambos hospitales. No existe diferencia estadisticamente significativa entre los conocimientos ni las actitudes entre ambos hospitales. En el HCMM (medicos, enfermeras, tecnicos, internos de medicina y obstetricia) presentan asociacion directa y significativa entre los conocimientos con las actitudes. En las obstetrices la asociacion es inversa y significativa. En el IPSS (medicos, enfermeras, tecnicos) muestran asociacion directa y significativa. Se concluye entonces que los conocimientos estan relacionados con las actitudes en ambos hospitales.(AU).

El tipo de investigacion fue el descriptivo de corte transversal con diseno correlacional, la poblacion estuvo conformada por un total de 498 trabajadores de salud, distribuidos en 17 servicios de los cuales mediante un muestreo probalistico estratificado se obtuvo una muestra representativa de 222 unidades de analisis, clasificados por afinidad en 13 servicios. Mediante la tecnica de observacion realizada en tres momentos diferentes, se verifico el grado de aplicacion de las normas de bioseguridad en los trabajadores de los servicios en estudio. Empleando la tecnica de la entrevista dirigido a los jefes de servicio se determino la disponobilidad y suficiencia de recursos materiales relacionados a las barreras de proteccion. Posteriormente a fin de identificar el grado de conocimientos que poseen los trabajadores de cada servicio de salud respecto al VIH-SIDA y normas de bioseguridad, se empleo la tecnica del cuestionario en forma individual y anonima, para garantizar la confiabilidad de las respuestas. Finalmente se realizo el analisis con la prueba estadistica de correlacion "r de Pearson" para comprobar la relacion que existe entre conocimientos de VIH-SIDA, normas de bioseguridad; la disponibilidad y suficiencia de recursos materiales con la aplicacion de normas de bioseguridad.
