Winner Best Book 2017 for language and literacy development 0-3 years Speech Pathology Australia. Babies and toddlers will love Noisy Nature as it listens to the sounds of the Australian bush to develop early language. Have fun as you read your way making the ooh aah of the kookaburra or the err err err of the green tree frog to encourage your child's vocal play and early speech production. We listen before we speak so pitch and sound variations are cleverly used to encourage keen listening and to retain attention. For more fun, add some hand gestures for the honk honk of the magpie goose. This will create meaning for young learners as they connect the sound and gesture to the animal picture. With minimal text, Noisy Nature will help parents and children whose home language is not Standard Australian English. The original illustrations with bold outlines and vivid colours are perfect for early learners. A fun and interactive book for babies to 3 year olds.

Book Synopsis Natural Language Processing for the Semantic Web by : Diana Maynard
Download or read book Natural Language Processing for the Semantic Web written by Diana Maynard and published by Morgan & Claypool Publishers. This book was released on 2016-12-13 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces core natural language processing (NLP) technologies to non-experts in an easily accessible way, as a series of building blocks that lead the user to understand key technologies, why they are required, and how to integrate them into Semantic Web applications. Natural language processing and Semantic Web technologies have different, but complementary roles in data management. Combining these two technologies enables structured and unstructured data to merge seamlessly. Semantic Web technologies aim to convert unstructured data to meaningful representations, which benefit enormously from the use of NLP technologies, thereby enabling applications such as connecting text to Linked Open Data, connecting texts to each other, semantic searching, information visualization, and modeling of user behavior in online networks. The first half of this book describes the basic NLP processing tools: tokenization, part-of-speech tagging, and morphological analysis, in addition to the main tools required for an information extraction system (named entity recognition and relation extraction) which build on these components. The second half of the book explains how Semantic Web and NLP technologies can enhance each other, for example via semantic annotation, ontology linking, and population. These chapters also discuss sentiment analysis, a key component in making sense of textual data, and the difficulties of performing NLP on social media, as well as some proposed solutions. The book finishes by investigating some applications of these tools, focusing on semantic search and visualization, modeling user behavior, and an outlook on the future.
Book Synopsis Noisy Bug Sing-Along by : John Himmelman
Download or read book Noisy Bug Sing-Along written by John Himmelman and published by Sourcebooks, Inc.. This book was released on 2013-03-01 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kids love bugs, and this book takes readers outside both day and night to see and hear all the sights and sounds. The illustrations are fun and use the sounds of the insects to direct the readers eye to all the cool sounds bugs make. Accurate scientific information accompanies all of the fun of heading out to the backyard on a summer night to experience the bugs! In this colorful picture book, Himmelman introduces the sounds of "noisy bugs" and invites children to sing along with them. Each double-page spread focuses on one insect, with a line of text, such as "A Dog-Day Cicada buzzes LOUDLY high in a tree. / ZZZZZZZZ," and a meticulously drawn, large-scale image of the animal, with color, texture, and shading apparently added digitally. The big, bold images make the illustrations inviting to children, while the accurate depictions of individual insects reward closer study. Among those featured are the tiger moth (SQUEAKA-SQUEAKA-SQUEAK), the mosquito (mmmmmm), and the bush katydid (tick-tick-tick zeezeezeezee). In contrast, the butterfly flies by in silence. An appended section provides the sound waves (on paper and, through a link, in audio files) recorded for each example; a paragraph of information about each bug and its sound; and good children's activities for related of insect sounds. A perfect book for: parents and teachers needing homeschool materials for kindergarten (or any grade!) anyone looking for singalong books for kids and toddlers! anyone looking for children's books to help instill an appreciation of our planet!
Book Synopsis Coherent Evolution in Noisy Environments by : Andreas Buchleitner
Download or read book Coherent Evolution in Noisy Environments written by Andreas Buchleitner and published by Springer. This book was released on 2008-01-11 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last two decades extraordinary progress in the experimental handling of single quantum objects has spurred theoretical research into investigating the coupling between quantum systems and their environment. Decoherence, the gradual deterioration of entanglement due to dissipation and noise fed to the system by the environment, has emerged as a central concept. The present set of lectures is intended as a high-level, but self-contained, introduction into the fields of quantum noise and dissipation. In particular their influence on decoherence and applications pertaining to quantum information and quantum communication are studied, leading the nonspecialist researchers and the advanced students gradually to the forefront of research.

Book Synopsis Noisy Optimization With Evolution Strategies by : Dirk V. Arnold
Download or read book Noisy Optimization With Evolution Strategies written by Dirk V. Arnold and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Noise is a common factor in most real-world optimization problems. Sources of noise can include physical measurement limitations, stochastic simulation models, incomplete sampling of large spaces, and human-computer interaction. Evolutionary algorithms are general, nature-inspired heuristics for numerical search and optimization that are frequently observed to be particularly robust with regard to the effects of noise. Noisy Optimization with Evolution Strategies contributes to the understanding of evolutionary optimization in the presence of noise by investigating the performance of evolution strategies, a type of evolutionary algorithm frequently employed for solving real-valued optimization problems. By considering simple noisy environments, results are obtained that describe how the performance of the strategies scales with both parameters of the problem and of the strategies considered. Such scaling laws allow for comparisons of different strategy variants, for tuning evolution strategies for maximum performance, and they offer insights and an understanding of the behavior of the strategies that go beyond what can be learned from mere experimentation. This first comprehensive work on noisy optimization with evolution strategies investigates the effects of systematic fitness overvaluation, the benefits of distributed populations, and the potential of genetic repair for optimization in the presence of noise. The relative robustness of evolution strategies is confirmed in a comparison with other direct search algorithms. Noisy Optimization with Evolution Strategies is an invaluable resource for researchers and practitioners of evolutionary algorithms.
