Book excerpt: Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2022 in the subject Economy - Real estate industry, , course: Business Administration and Strategic Management, language: English, abstract: The goal of the research is to look into the effect of Organizational strategic management methods and practices on the performance of Real Estate companies in Nigeria. Real estate organizations are currently in need of strong strategic management methods as well as a defined company direction. This research enlisted the participation of different people from different Real Estate Organizations that cuts across the 6 Geopolitical zones of Nigeria and I was able gathered important information about strategic management in real estate organizations using a quantitative methodology after which the data gathered were duly analysed. Real estate demand has increased and evolved dramatically in recent years in Nigeria, with Lagos and Abuja at the forefront, and many investors believe that real estate investment will continue to be a major source of competitive advantage with good Return on Investment (ROI) over other forms of investments and sectors of the economy. In Nigeria, real estate is regarded as one of the most important and rapidly developing assets and means of investment security with the Nigeria Real Estate market/ sector being adjudged one of the most viable and investors interests in Africa, it plays a major role in the GDP of the country. Likewise, the real estate industry helps in creating employment, lessening poverty, and providing shelter to families and promoting distribution of income in to the economy. This industry, like any other industry is constantly evolving and the drivers for this sector range from the profitability to the changing face of building space complimented by the uncertainties encircling the sector. Despite this, the Nigeria real estate sector continues to lag in fulfilling its fundamental roles due to various factors affecting the sector, which includes, Government policies, Foreign Exchange accessibility, the lack of clear strategy, plan and implementation and right leadership skills to help in growth of the industry among others.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Project Report from the year 2017 in the subject Politics - Region: Africa, , course: Public Administration, language: English, abstract: There are various aims behind the course of this study. The first objective is to highlight the reasons for government regulation on business management in Nigeria. Then, the study examines the role of government regulation in the development of business management in Nigeria and it analyzes the strategies used by government in regulating business management in Nigeria. The last objective is to examine the effects of government regulation on business management in Nigeria. A government formulates many rules and regulations that guide businesses. Businesses will normally change the way they operate according to the influence these rules and regulations have on the competitiveness and profitability of businesses. Business owners must comply with the regulations established by Federal, State and Local Government. Small business is facing many challenges nowadays, none of which are more forbidding than a burden. Federal government regulations and mandates threaten investment and stifle job growths. When the government imposes regulations on small businesses that drive up the cost of doing business, it’s like imposing a tax. A tax is a compulsory contribution to the state revenue which the government determines according to the workers’ income and business profit and which is also added to the cost of some goods, services and transactions. A government can implement a policy that can change the social behavior in the business environment. For instance, the existence of the Nigeria Breweries Plc operation under the company law regulating the activities of business enterprises is due to the fact that the following itemized law acts have been regulating the activities of this company with the motive of enhancing the social, political and economic growth and development of the country. Some of the agencies responsible for business regulations are the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), the Anti-Counterfeiting Collaboration (ACC), the Music Regulation of Nigeria (MRN) etc. Therefore, it is clear that the role of a government is to protect and represent the interest of the society and the citizenry in which business operates. It can be further said that a government through regulations protects consumers from abuse and ensures efficiency in the use of resources and promotes equitable distribution of income.

The study examined the role of Business Strategy on Mission Accomplishment of Manufacturing companies with a major focus on mission statements of two multi-national companies in Nigeria.Probability and non probability sampling techniques were adopted. In the first stage, the two multinational companies were purposively selected among the list of registered manufacturing companies while in the second stage, a simple random sampling procedure was employed to draw participants from the organizations. A total sample of 384 participants was planned by the sampling procedure, however, only 291 participants were successfully interviewed. From the analysis, it was asserted that the employment of business strategy enhances organizational mission irrespective of the type, ownership, management and size of the organization. In addition, there is need for a thorough environmental scanning in order to select the appropriate business strategy to be adopted in accomplishing the specific aspect of the organization's mission.

Book excerpt: Globalization has restructured the society as a whole such that product marketing by corporate organizations have gone beyond the traditional Radio, Television and Newspaper advertisement and embraced the social media. All this is in the bid to acquire some competition advantage towards profitability. This study is aimed at investigating enhancing management strategy for profitability of corporate organizations in Nigeria. The study used primary data collected with the use of questionnaire distributed to 50 managers of 5 quoted companies, purposively selected from among leading firms in their different areas of industry in Port Harcourt Rivers State. The data was analysed using frequency percentages and weighted mean to answer the research questions. The findings of the study agreed with some previous research findings that the processes of strategic management generally include environmental scanning, formulation and implementation of strategies, and evaluation and control; but disagreed with some who posited that management strategies have been fully embraced in Nigeria. The study finds that some corporate organizations are yet to fully come to terms with the processes of management strategies. It found that some will formulate strategies but will not work according to its precepts. Finally, it is discovered that formulating the strategies without following the other processes is like not having any strategy at all. Therefore, the study concluded that management strategies have not been fully adopted by corporate organizations in Nigeria, and that to enhance management strategies; the full processes as identified by the model must be followed. And this will activate its positive impact on the firms' competitive advantage as well as profitability.

Instability of Nigeria economy is contributory to why only less than 20 percent small startup businesses survive the first five years. In spite of the unstable business environment, owners created approximately 17.3 million small businesses across Nigeria and employed a total of approximately thirty-two million workers with contribution of about 45 percent to the GDP. Based on theory of constraints, the purpose of this qualitative multiple-case study was to explore strategies required by some small business owners to survive Nigerias unstable economy beyond five years. It discusses how business and society perceive and relate to CSR; how the field has continued to reshape modern corporate boardrooms in both the advanced and emerging economies; how CSR has transformed the manner in which modern corporate entities disclose the non-financial information aspect of their operations to the world at large; and the way in which sustainable development has continued to contribute to improving the quintuple bottom line - people, planet, prosperity, partnership and peace - of 21st century corporate entities. Further, the book also provides evidence of how these aspects of corporate social responsibility are depicted in different forms in eleven nations around the globe.

Book excerpt: This book examines the imperative role of global environmental governance, and the need to incorporate corporate environmental accountability and mechanisms for enforcement, to effectively address the global environmental crisis. The author, Felix Moses Edoho, Sr., examines the issues at the various global, national, and regional levels. In Part I the book examines the issues at the global level and looks at the impact of transnational corporations (TNCs) and globalization on the global environmental crisis. Furthermore, it also examines the efforts of the United Nations in initiating global environmental architecture to tackle the crisis. Part II considers the issues at the national level and focuses on Nigeria. The author explores Nigeria’s regulatory and institutional framework for environmental governance and implementation. Lastly, at the regional level in Part III, the discourse centers on how decades of oil exploration and production have unleashed monumental ecological tragedies in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria due to the lack of corporate environmental accountability. This book will be of great interest to academics and students who are interested in broadening their knowledge of environmental governance and policy in developing countries. It will also be of value to environmental regulatory agencies and public administrators, development professionals, and TNCs.
