Book Synopsis Total Cross-Section Measurements by : G. Giacomelli
Download or read book Total Cross-Section Measurements written by G. Giacomelli and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Total Cross-Section Measurements discusses the cross-sectional dimensions of elementary hadron collisions. The main coverage of the book is the resonance and high energy area of the given collision. A section of the book explains in detail the characteristic of a resonance region. Another section is focused on the location of the high energy region of collision. Parts of the book define the meaning of resonance in nuclear physics. Also explained are the measurement of resonance and the identification of the area where the resonance originates. Different experimental methods to measure the total cross section of a charged particle are given. One such method is the transmission method. Bubble chamber measurement is another method that is covered in the book. Systems of analysis such as the pion-nucleon system, the K–-nucleon system, and K+- nucleon system are discussed. The book is an excellent guide for nuclear physicists and students of physics.
Book Synopsis Experimental neutron resonance spectroscopy by : J Harvey
Download or read book Experimental neutron resonance spectroscopy written by J Harvey and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 549 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Experimental Neutron Resonance Spectroscopy deals with the experimental technique of neutron resonance spectroscopy. Pulsed accelerator time-of-flight spectrometers and gamma rays from neutron capture in resonances are discussed. Total neutron cross section measurements are presented, along with neutron scattering and capture cross-section measurements and measurements on fissile nuclides. This book is comprised of five chapters and begins with an introduction to pulsed accelerator time-of-flight spectrometers with moderated continued neutron spectra, together with the pulsed Van De Graaff. Experimental techniques used for neutron cross section measurements, including detectors and data acquisition equipment, are then outlined. Scattering measurements and capture measurements as well as gamma-ray spectra from the capture of neutrons in resonances are considered. The final chapter focuses on the detailed and varied experiments that have been performed on the complicated fission process, together with the parameters of the resonances of the fissile nuclides. This monograph will be a useful resource for spectroscopists and physicists.

Book Synopsis Neutron Beam Design, Development, and Performance for Neutron Capture Therapy by : Otto K. Harling
Download or read book Neutron Beam Design, Development, and Performance for Neutron Capture Therapy written by Otto K. Harling and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-08 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For this Workshop, the organizers have attempted to invite experts from all known centers which are engaged in neutron beam development for neutron capture therapy. The Workshop was designed around a series of nineteen invited papers which dealt with neutron source design and development and beam characterization and performance. Emphasis was placed on epithermal beams because they offer clinical advantages and are more challenging to implement than thermal beams. Fission reactor sources were the basis for the majority of the papers; however three papers dealt with accelerator neutron sources. An additional three invited papers provided a summary of clinical results of Ncr therapy in Japan between 1968 and 1989 and overviews of clinical considerations for neutron capture therapy and of the status of tumor targeting chemical agents for Ncr. Five contributed poster papers dealing with NCT beam design and performance were also presented. A rapporteurs' paper was prepared after the Workshop to attempt to summarize the major aspects, issues, and conclusions which resulted from this Workshop. Many people contributed to both the smooth functioning of the Workshop and to the preparation of these proceedings. Special thanks are reserved for Ms. Dorothy K.

Download or read book Neutron Distributions Near an Air-soil Boundary as a Function of Soil-water Content written by R. L. Mather and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A computational method developed in an earlier report, (AD-247 595), applies to the neutron field from an air-burst weapon. In this report the neutron flux as a function of energy and depth in the vicinity of the air-soil boundary at large distances from ground zero is investigated for several soil-water contents. Several aspects of the results are presented which conform with expectations. The results are briefly compared with the results from cyclotron experiments. (Author).
