Book Synopsis Geological Survey of Canada, Current Research (Online) no. 2005-D1 by : Denis Lavoie
Download or read book Geological Survey of Canada, Current Research (Online) no. 2005-D1 written by Denis Lavoie and published by Natural Resources Canada. This book was released on 2005 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper presents preliminary results from field observations on the Lower Silurian La Vieille Formation in north-east New Brunswick regarding the extent of early hydrothermal dolomitization, a critical element for assessing hydrocarbon potential. Six stratigraphic sections of the Formation were carefully examined for facies architecture and evidence of hydrothermal alteration of limestone facies. Features of interest included early fractures, brecciation & dissolution associated with early fractures, large-scale collapse of sections, fracture-filling cements, and synsedimentary tectonic instability. The findings provide critical information pertinent to the hydrocarbon reservoir potential of these rocks.
Book Synopsis Shale Gas Production Processes by : James G. Speight
Download or read book Shale Gas Production Processes written by James G. Speight and published by Gulf Professional Publishing. This book was released on 2013-06-11 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The extraction of natural gas from shale formations is no simple task and perhaps the most expensive when compared to over unconventional gases. Although, its popularity has grown over the years, there is much to be done to make their production and processing more cost-effective. Brief but comprehensive, Shale Gas Production Processes begins with an overview of the chemistry, engineering and technology of shale gas. This is quickly followed by self-contained chapters concerning new and evolving process technologies and their applications as well as environmental regulations. Written in an easy to read format, Shale Gas Production Processes will prove useful for those scientists and engineers already engaged in fossil fuel science and technology as well as scientists, non-scientists, engineers, and non-engineers who wish to gain a general overview or update of the science and technology of shale gas. In addition, the book discusses methods used to reduce environmental footprint and improve well performance. - Updates on the evolving processes and new processes - Provides overview of the chemistry, engineering, and technology of shale gas - Guides the reader through the latest environmental regulation regarding production and processing of shale

Book Synopsis Shale Oil and Gas Production Processes by : James G. Speight
Download or read book Shale Oil and Gas Production Processes written by James G. Speight and published by Gulf Professional Publishing. This book was released on 2019-11-18 with total page 1048 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shale Oil and Gas Production Processes delivers the basics on current production technologies and the processing and refining of shale oil. Starting with the potential of formations and then proceeding to production and completion, this foundational resource also dives into the chemical and physical nature of the precursor of oil shale, kerogen, to help users understand and optimize its properties in shale. Rounding out with reporting, in situ retorting, refining and environmental aspects, this book gives engineers and managers a strong starting point on how to manage the challenges and processes necessary for the further development of these complex resources. - Helps readers grasp current research on production from shale formations, including properties and composition - Fill in the gaps between research and practical application, including discussions of existing literature - Includes a glossary to help readers fully understand key concepts
Book Synopsis Peaking of World Oil Production by : Robert Louis Hirsch
Download or read book Peaking of World Oil Production written by Robert Louis Hirsch and published by Nova Science Publishers. This book was released on 2007 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The peaking of world oil production presents the U.S. and the world with an unprecedented risk management problem. As peaking is approached, liquid fuel prices and price volatility will increase dramatically, and without timely mitigation, the economic, social, and political costs will be unprecedented. Viable mitigation options exist on both the supply and demand sides, but to have substantial impact, they must be initiated more than a decade in advance of peaking. Dealing with world oil production peaking will be extremely complex, involve literally trillions of dollars and require many years of intense effort. To explore these complexities, three alternative mitigation scenarios are analysed: scenario I assumes that action is not initiated until peaking occurs; scenario II assumes that action is initiated 10 years before peaking; scenario III assumes action is initiated 20 years before peaking. For this analysis estimates of the possible contributions of each mitigation option were developed, based on an assumed crash program rate of implementation.
