This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is a collection of peer-reviewed articles on dynamics, control and simulation of chemical processes. It covers a variety of different methods for approaching process dynamics and control, including bifurcation analysis, computational fluid dynamics, neural network applications, numerical simulations of partial differential equations, process identification and control, Lagrangian analysis of mixing. The book is intended both for scientists and engineering involved in process analysis and control and for researchers (system engineering, mathematicians and physicists) interested in nonlinear sciences. It provides an overview of the typical problems of chemical and process engineering, in which dynamical system theory finds a significant and fertile field of applications.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There has been much excitement over the emergence of new mathematical techniques for the analysis and control of nonlinear systems. In addition, great technological advances have bolstered the impact of analytic advances and produced many new problems and applications which are nonlinear in an essential way. This book lays out in a concise mathematical framework the tools and methods of analysis which underlie this diversity of applications.

Book Synopsis Isochronous Systems by : Francesco Calogero
Download or read book Isochronous Systems written by Francesco Calogero and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2008-02-07 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A dynamical system is called isochronous if it features in its phase space an open, fully-dimensional region where all its solutions are periodic in all its degrees of freedom with the same, fixed period. Recently a simple transformation has been introduced, applicable to quite a large class of dynamical systems, that yields autonomous systems which are isochronous. This justifies the notion that isochronous systems are not rare.In this book the procedure to manufacture isochronous systems is reviewed, and many examples of such systems are provided. Examples include many-body problems characterized by Newtonian equations of motion in spaces of one or more dimensions, Hamiltonian systems, and also nonlinear evolution equations (PDEs).The book shall be of interest to students and researchers working on dynamical systems, including integrable and nonintegrable models, with a finite or infinite number of degrees of freedom. It might be used as a basic textbook, or as backup material for an undergraduate or graduate course.

Book Synopsis New Trends in Nonlinear Dynamics and Pattern-Forming Phenomena by : Pierre Coullet

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The basic aim of the NATO Advanced Research Workshop on "New Trends in Nonlinear Dynamics and Pattern-Forming Phenomena: The Geometry of Nonequilibrium" was to bring together researchers from various areas of physics to review and explore new ideas regarding the organisation of systems driven far from equilibrium. Such systems are characterized by a close relationship between broken spatial and tempo ral symmetries. The main topics of interest included pattern formation in chemical systems, materials and convection, traveling waves in binary fluids and liquid crystals, defects and their role in the disorganisa tion of structures, spatio-temporal intermittency, instabilities and large-scale vortices in open flows, the mathematics of non-equilibrium systems, turbulence, and last but not least growth phenomena. Written contributions from participants have been grouped into chapters addressing these different areas. For additional clarity, the first chapter on pattern formation has been subdivided into sections. One of the main concerns was to focus on the unifying features between these diverse topics. The various scientific communities repre sented were encouraged to discuss and compare their approach so as to mutually benefit their respective fields. We hope that, to a large degree, these goals have been met and we thank all the participants for their efforts. The workshop was held in Cargese (Corsica, France) at the Institut d'Etudes Scientifiques from August 2nd to August 12th, 1988. We greatly thank Yves Pomeau and Daniel Walgraef who, as members of the organising committee, gave us valuable advice and encouragements.

Book Synopsis Hamiltonian Dynamics by : Gaetano Vilasi
Download or read book Hamiltonian Dynamics written by Gaetano Vilasi and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2001 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is both a textbook and a monograph. It is partially based on a two-semester course, held by the author for third-year students in physics and mathematics at the University of Salerno, on analytical mechanics, differential geometry, symplectic manifolds and integrable systems. As a textbook, it provides a systematic and self-consistent formulation of Hamiltonian dynamics both in a rigorous coordinate language and in the modern language of differential geometry. It also presents powerful mathematical methods of theoretical physics, especially in gauge theories and general relativity. As a monograph, the book deals with the advanced research topic of completely integrable dynamics, with both finitely and infinitely many degrees of freedom, including geometrical structures of solitonic wave equations. Contents: Analytical Mechanics: The Lagrangian Coordinates; Hamiltonian Systems; Transformation Theory; The Integration Methods; Basic Ideas of Differential Geometry: Manifolds and Tangent Spaces; Differential Forms; Integration Theory; Lie Groups and Lie Algebras; Geometry and Physics: Symplectic Manifolds and Hamiltonian Systems; The Orbits Method; Classical Electrodynamics; Integrable Field Theories: KdV Equation; General Structures; Meaning and Existence of Recursion Operators; Miscellanea; Integrability of Fermionic Dynamics. Readership: Physicists and mathematicians.
