Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Narina Kenwin is the only daughter of the Bishop of St. Albans and used to a quiet comfortable life in her father's country diocese. Intelligent, loyal and stunningly beautiful, Narina is happy with her lot, although she does sometimes daydream about the far off places that she would love to see with someone special by her side. And it seems that her wish to travel is about to come true when Narina receives an invitation from her school friend, Louise, who is married to Prince Rudolf, the Ruler of the small Principality of Alexanderburg in the Balkans. With great anticipation and excitement Narina accepts. She has greatly missed her friend since the wedding as they have so much in common - including the fact that they look so alike that they are often mistaken for twins! But when Narina arrives in Alexanderburg she is instantly plunged into the middle of a political storm, with the young Royal couple at its centre. Quickly realising that the whole country is on high alert, and that the Russian Army may invade at any moment, Louise tells her that there is only one way to maintain Alexanderburg's independence, and begs Narina to swap places with her, as they have done successfully so many times at school. Bravely accepting the challenge, Narina promises to take her friend's place and play her part in defending the Principality. Hoping the ruse of swapping identities will work one last time, the two friends hug before parting and swearing each other to secrecy - no matter what. Terrified that she will be discovered, and feeling very alone, Narina is confronted by a badly wounded Englishman, claiming to be pursued by the dastardly Russians. Grateful to find an ally, Narina is tempted to reveal her secret. But can she trust the offer of help from this mysterious man who seems so brave and daring? And how would he feel if he knew who she really was? As her feelings grow she is torn between her promise to her friend, duty to her country and the hope that true love may be finally on its way.
Book Synopsis Taxonomy of the birds of the world by : fotolulu
Download or read book Taxonomy of the birds of the world written by fotolulu and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2018-10-30 with total page 702 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do you come up with the idea to list all the birds in the world including the subspecies and to give all birds English names? There is a reason for it - my favorite saying, whose author is unknown: "Everyone said that ́s not possible - then there was one who did not know that and just did it!" I am an animal photographer and probably a little bit crazy. I ́ve built a complete animal database for mammals and birds over the last decade. This facilitates my work in determining and archiving images and assigning keywords, especially among the many subspecies. With this book, I would like to give all birding friends and ornithologists a complete overview in English. For this I have given unique English names to all subspecies. The naming should not meet any scientific requirements. The names are based on translations from the Latin name, geographical distribution areas and the names of the discoverers. The entries consist of the scientific name, the English name, the distribution areas and the author. I wish you a lot of fun with this book, but especially while watching the fascinating birdlife. fotolulu

Book Synopsis Black Cat Weekly #103 by : O’Neil De Noux
Download or read book Black Cat Weekly #103 written by O’Neil De Noux and published by Wildside Press LLC. This book was released on 2023-08-20 with total page 383 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our 103rd issue is just one shy of our second anniversary issue, but we still have a whale of an issue for you. Regular readers will notice a new category (“Adventure”) below, which will appear occasionally to fit stories I like that aren’t necessarily mysteries, science fiction, or fantasy. (Well…this one may be fantasy, depending on how you feel about fish!) It’s from a pulp magazine called Mammoth Adventure, a companion to Amazing Stories and Fantastic when they were published by Ziff-Davis. It’s fun. Working our way through the table of contents, we have a pair of original mysteries by O’Neil De Noux and Shannon Taft, thanks to our hardworking Acquiring Editors, Michael Bracken and Barb Goffman. James Holding has a crime story, and Golden Age British mystery author J.J. Connington adds a terrific novel. For adventure (and nature) lovers, something’s fishy in “Only a Sucker Bites,” a whopper of a story about lake pike. On the fantasy end of things, we have a tale of astral projection from Adrian Cole, a vintage zombi (or jumbee) story by Henry S. Whitehead first published in Weird Tales, and a pair of vintage science fiction stories by Arthur Leo Zagat and George O. Smith. Here’s the complete lineup: Mysteries / Suspense / Adventure: “A Dirty, Dimly Lit Place,” by O’Neil De Noux [Michael Bracken Presents short story] “Too Many Suspects,” by Hal Charles [Solve-It-Yourself Mystery] “The End of the Road,” by Shannon Taft [Barb Goffman Presents short story] “Reason Enough,” by James Holding [short story] Murder in the Maze, by J. J. Connington [novel] Adventure: “Only a Sucker Bites,” by J. C. Stanley [short story] Science Fiction & Fantasy: “A Smell of Burning,” by Adrian Cole [short story] “Jumbee,” by Henry S. Whitehead [short story] “Lost in Time,” by Arthur Leo Zagat [novella] Dynasty of the Lost, by George O. Smith [novel]
