Book Synopsis It's Been One Hell of a Ride by : Jennifer Collins-Timm
Download or read book It's Been One Hell of a Ride written by Jennifer Collins-Timm and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2020-04-03 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It's Been One Hell of a Ride is a pretty sarcastic, totally true, and comical ride. A two-part book started as a journal of our family story to my Timm men. It's a book on how we began this ride. How we dealt with many life hiccups with humor. How we picked our battles and learned to breathe through the struggles. How we enjoyed the little things. Also, to remember the good times, remember the bad times, and to learn from it and move on. Keep trucking as this is your ride and ultimately up to you to make it the best ride it can be! In this creating process, it dawned on me that this book is not just for us but also for others. It's for all pondering their place on the path. It reassures all panickers this isn't going the way it was planned and that's okay. You just let the ride take you, learn to love it, and find the humor in it, as the grass really isn't greener over here or there. I'm sure many of you can relate that our rides have bumpy paths, but we always have the option to steer it in a different direction.

Book excerpt: Welcome to the Printer Club, a gathering of unlikely souls bound by their love for the art of printing. Our story unfolds in a world where the rhythmic click of a dot matrix printer is music to the ears, where ink cartridges are treasured relics, and where a good printer jam can be a source of both frustration and amusement. Meet Arthur, the club's president, a man whose love for vintage technology knows no bounds. He can tell you the history of every printer ever made and could probably assemble one blindfolded (though he'd prefer you didn't ask him to). There's Eleanor, a freelance graphic designer who yearns for a simpler time. She's got a thing for vintage typewriters and can tap out a sonnet faster than you can say "Courier New." Brian, the struggling novelist, finds solace in the precision of laser printers. He believes that a well-formatted document is the key to unlocking the secrets of the universe. And then there's Janice, the retired schoolteacher with a knack for troubleshooting even the most baffling printing issues. If your printer is acting up, Janice is your woman. But their lives are thrown into disarray when Alistair joins the club. Alistair is a man shrouded in mystery. He arrives with a sleek, state-of-the-art printer that seems to have a mind of its own. He boasts of an encyclopedic knowledge of printing technology that makes even Arthur raise an eyebrow. Is Alistair a genuine printing enthusiast, or is he harboring a secret? Join us as we delve into the quirky world of the Printer Club, where every meeting is a comedic adventure, where the line between reality and absurdity blurs, and where the bonds of friendship are forged in the shared passion for the art of printing.

Book excerpt: "For twenty-eight years, Pamela Paul has been keeping a diary that records the books she reads, rather than the life she leads. Or does it? Over time, it's become clear that this Book of Books, or Bob, as she calls him, tells a much bigger story. For Paul, as for many readers, books reflect her inner life--her fantasies and hopes, her dreams and ideas. And her life, in turn, influences which books she chooses, whether for solace or escape, diversion or self-reflection, information or entertainment. My Life with Bob isn't about what's in those books; it's about the relationship between books and readers"--

Download or read book Future Titans written by Daniel Idfresne and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2021-08-28 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I could not just sit around during this famine of Inspiration & Aspirations in the Gen Z community. I decided to write an Actionable + Inspirational book with some of my friends from one of the smartest schools in America. A book FOR TEENS BY TEENS. Credibility in Relatability. If you are a teen looking to improve yourself & those around you, this is for you. If you are a parent or teacher and you want to help kids but don't know how, here you go. This book was written during the Covid-19 Pandemic, so I doubt it gets any more recent, relevant, & realistic than this. Instead of waiting to get a degree or be 'qualified' to write a book, I thought it would be more efficient to write one while I look like, act like, and sound like my target readers, instead of being detached and 'trying' to relate. The goal for readers after reading this is to have more clarity, intent, urgency, motivation, independence, and understanding when going through life. Teenagers typically wander around, inhaling & exhaling, waiting for something to trigger them to be adults or self-sufficient human beings, well I think this can play that part. The goal is for every single teenager to be able to (and actually) take something away from this and apply it, regardless of their current financial situation, what school they go to, their past, their present, their perceived future, their external circumstances, their internal circumstances, or whatever else. I want to play a part in making as many Future Titans as I possibly can, hopefully, this acts as a positive contribution towards that goal. Cheers, my fellow (soon to be) Titans

Book Synopsis A Doubter's Almanac by : Ethan Canin
Download or read book A Doubter's Almanac written by Ethan Canin and published by Random House. This book was released on 2016-02-16 with total page 588 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In this mesmerizing novel, Ethan Canin, the author of America America and The Palace Thief, explores the nature of genius, rivalry, ambition, and love among multiple generations of a gifted family. Milo Andret is born with an unusual mind. A lonely child growing up in the woods of northern Michigan in the 1950s, he gives little thought to his own talent. But with his acceptance at U.C. Berkeley he realizes the extent, and the risks, of his singular gifts. California in the seventies is a seduction, opening Milo’s eyes to the allure of both ambition and indulgence. The research he begins there will make him a legend; the woman he meets there—and the rival he meets alongside her—will haunt him for the rest of his life. For Milo’s brilliance is entwined with a dark need that soon grows to threaten his work, his family, even his existence. Spanning seven decades as it moves from California to Princeton to the Midwest to New York, A Doubter’s Almanac tells the story of a family as it explores the way ambition lives alongside destructiveness, obsession alongside torment, love alongside grief. It is a story of how the flame of genius both lights and scorches every generation it touches. Graced by stunning prose and brilliant storytelling, A Doubter’s Almanac is a surprising, suspenseful, and deeply moving novel, a major work by a writer who has been hailed as “the most mature and accomplished novelist of his generation.” Praise for A Doubter’s Almanac “551 pages of bliss . . . devastating and wonderful . . . dazzling . . . You come away from the book wanting to reevaluate your choices and your relationships. It’s a rare book that can do that, and it’s a rare joy to discover such a book.”—Esquire “[Canin] is at the top of his form, fluent, immersive, confident. You might not know where he’s taking you, but the characters are so vivid, Hans’s voice rendered so precisely, that it’s impossible not to trust in the story. . . . The delicate networks of emotion and connection that make up a family are illuminated, as if by magic, via his prose.”—Slate “Alternately explosive and deeply interior.”—New York (“Eight Books You Need to Read”) “A blazingly intelligent novel.”—Los Angeles Times “[A] beautifully written novel.”—The New York Times Book Review (Editors’ Choice)
Download or read book The Audio Expert written by Ethan Winer and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2012-11-12 with total page 672 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Audio Expert is a comprehensive reference that covers all aspects of audio, with many practical, as well as theoretical, explanations. Providing in-depth descriptions of how audio really works, using common sense plain-English explanations and mechanical analogies with minimal math, the book is written for people who want to understand audio at the deepest, most technical level, without needing an engineering degree. It's presented in an easy-to-read, conversational tone, and includes more than 400 figures and photos augmenting the text. The Audio Expert takes the intermediate to advanced recording engineer or audiophile and makes you an expert. The book goes far beyond merely explaining how audio "works." It brings together the concepts of audio, aural perception, musical instrument physics, acoustics, and basic electronics, showing how they're intimately related. Describing in great detail many of the practices and techniques used by recording and mixing engineers, the topics include video production and computers. Rather than merely showing how to use audio devices such as equalizers and compressors, Ethan Winer explains how they work internally, and how they are spec'd and tested. Most explanations are platform-agnostic, applying equally to Windows and Mac operating systems, and to most software and hardware. TheAudioExpertbook.com, the companion website, has audio and video examples to better present complex topics such as vibration and resonance. There are also videos demonstrating editing techniques and audio processing, as well as interviews with skilled musicians demonstrating their instruments and playing techniques.
