Book Synopsis Every Riven Thing by : Christian Wiman
Download or read book Every Riven Thing written by Christian Wiman and published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. This book was released on 2014-08-12 with total page 79 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A vibrant new collection from one of America's most talented young poets Every Riven Thing is Christian Wiman's first collection in seven years, and rarely has a book of poetry so borne the stamp of necessity. Whether in stark, haiku-like descriptions of a cancer ward, surrealistic depictions of a social order coming apart, or fluent, defiant outpourings of praise, Wiman pushes his language and forms until they break open, revealing startling new truths within. The poems are joyful and sorrowful at the same time, abrasive and beautiful, densely physical and credibly mystical. They attest to the human hunger to feel existence, even at its most harrowing, and the power of art to make our most intense experiences not only apprehensible but transfiguring.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within each of us, there is a spark, a light in our souls that never dies. It is the gift that is divine, which God has given us. It takes the form of art, math, teaching, writing, poetry, counseling, and something magical. The darkness of the world and the illusions of technology have distracted us with their illusions and images of who we are not, instead of helping us find the light inside ourselves, which is the gift from God. I wanted to write a series of poems that encourage others to find the light in their souls and, in the process, be happy doing what they are supposed to be doing and being who they are meant to be instead of wasting their lives away, trying to please others and the images of who others want them to be. Within each of us, there is a spark of the divinethe soul, your light. We need you to find the light within yourself so you can shine with your light and make the world a less dark and a happier place. This is my soul, and these are my words. Download or read book Light a Candle in My Soul: Poems and Poetic Sketches written by Kerry Wade and published by Austin Macauley Publishers. This book was released on 2024-10-11 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is it that touches your soul, warms your heart or enlightens your mind? Do you dream and do you wonder? What do you seek and what comes of your thoughts? The Greeks sought, according to Aeschylus, to ‘tame the savageness of man, and make quiet the life of the world.’ The Earth itself is a Being, radiating outwards a consciousness that, no matter the vineyard in which you toil, each of us can reconnect with, refresh and renew ourselves, and perhaps even remake the world around us. In an Age of Absurdity, the soul’s longing has an uncommon degree of strength in the beauty of expression. Your thoughts and words change the world.

Book Synopsis Dreamways of the Iroquois by : Robert Moss
Download or read book Dreamways of the Iroquois written by Robert Moss and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2004-12-16 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Explores the ancient Iroquois tradition of dreams, healing, and the recovery of the soul • Explains Native American shamanic dream practices and their applications and purpose in modern life • Shows how dreams call us to remember and honor our soul’s true purpose • Offers powerful Active Dreaming methods for regaining lost soul energy to restore our vitality and identity The ancient teaching of the Iroquois people is that dreams are experiences of the soul in which we may travel outside the body, across time and space, and into other dimensions--or receive visitations from ancestors or spiritual guides. Dreams also reveal the wishes of the soul, calling us to move beyond our ego agendas and the web of other people’s projections into a deeper, more spirited life. They call us to remember our sacred contracts and reclaim the knowledge that belonged to us, on the levels of soul and spirit, before we entered our present life experience. In dreams we also discover where our vital soul energy may have gone missing--through pain or trauma or heartbreak--and how to get it back. Robert Moss was called to these ways when he started dreaming in a language he did not know, which proved to be an early form of the Mohawk Iroquois language. From his personal experiences, he developed a spirited approach to dreaming and living that he calls Active Dreaming. Dreamways of the Iroquois is at once a spiritual odyssey, a tribute to the deep wisdom of the First Peoples, a guide to healing our lives through dreamwork, and an invitation to soul recovery.
