He relates in a lively, original way all the fundamentals, from the nuts and bolts of strategy, evaluation, and preparation to the subtler, more human arts of developing a personal style and using memory, intuition, imagination and even fantasy. Kasparov takes us through the great matches of his career, including legendary duels against both man (Grandmaster Anatoly Karpov) and machine (IBM chess supercomputer Deep Blue), enhancing the lessons of his many experiences with examples from politics, literature, sports and military history. With candor, wisdom, and humor, Kasparov recounts his victories and his blunders, both from his years as a world-class competitor as well as his new life as a political leader in Russia. Book Synopsis The Chigorin Bible - by : Ivan Sokolov
Download or read book The Chigorin Bible - written by Ivan Sokolov and published by Thinkers Publishing. This book was released on 2019-03-04 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Chigorin Variation is one of the oldest variations of the Ruy Lopez, 'in- vented' (according to my database) at the Monte Carlo tournament in 1902 by Carl Schlechter in his game versus Siegbert Tarrasch. Doing our research for this book I was surprised to discover that in the early years of the development of the Chigorin Variation, Black often intentionally kept his king in the centre by opting for 8...Na5 9. Bc2 c5 instead of 8...0-0, trying to be flexible and keeping extra options. The drawback was that White was not obliged to spend time on h2-h3, as he was on 9.h3 in a regular move or- der. Nevertheless this unusual more order was tried with Black by Capablanca, Lasker, Botvinnik, Euwe, Rubinstein and Reshevsky, amongst others. How- ever, sometime in the late 1940s, this flexible plan more or less disappeared from Grandmaster practice, so I did not include it in the games in this book.
Book Synopsis The Magnus Method by : Emmanuel Neiman
Download or read book The Magnus Method written by Emmanuel Neiman and published by New In Chess,Csi. This book was released on 2021-11-07 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is it that makes Magnus Carlsen the strongest chess player in the world? Why do Carlsen's opponents, the best players around, fail to see his moves coming? Moves that, when you replay his games, look natural and self-evident? Emmanuel Neiman has been studying Carlsen's games and style of play for many years. His findings will surprise, delight, and educate every player, regardless of their level. Neiman explains a key element in the World Champion's play: instead of the 'absolute' best move he often plays the move that is likely to give him the better chances. Carlsen's singular ability to win positions that are equal or only very slightly favorable comes down to this: he doesn't let his opponents get what they hope for while offering them the maximum amount of chances to go wrong. In areas such as pawn play, piece play, exchanges as a positional weapon and breaking the rules tytyinndgames, Neiman shows that Magnus Carlsen has brought a new understanding to the game. He also looks at Carlsen's key qualities that are not directly related to technique. Such as his unparalleled fighting spirit and his ability to objectively evaluate any kind of position and situation. Carlsen is extremely widely read and knows basically everything about chess. What's more, as the most versatile player in the history of the game he is totally unpredictable. 'The Magnus Method' presents a complete analysis of the skills that make the difference. With lots of surprising and instructive examples and quizzes. Examining Carlsen's abilities together with Emmanuel Neiman is a delightful way to get to unlock you own potential.

Book Synopsis Beat the French Defense with 3. Nc3 - by : Pentala Harikrishna
Download or read book Beat the French Defense with 3. Nc3 - written by Pentala Harikrishna and published by . This book was released on 2021-02-09 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book on the 3.Nc3 French, Harikrishna offers practical ideas from White's perspective to make your preparation more effective. At times, this means suggesting the 2nd or 3rd choice of the engine. He builds on the material from his earlier French course (Chessable, May 2019) and has expanded it with new analysis in all the lines, especially the 3...Nf6 4.e5 Nfd7 5.f4 variation. Harikrishna analyzes both 5.Nce2 and 5.f4, so that the reader may make an informed choice about their personal preference. The driving force throughout is to keep the book clear-cut and practical. A good example of a practical weapon is the deceptively simple 3...Bb4 4.exd5 line. There are also fresh and interesting suggestions against the sidelines you are likely to encounter, especially at shorter time controls. The entire Thinkers Publishing team joins with the author in wishing you enjoyment and success from this exceptional book

Book Synopsis Understanding Minor Piece Endgames by : Karsten Müller
Download or read book Understanding Minor Piece Endgames written by Karsten Müller and published by SCB Distributors. This book was released on 2018-11-27 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Understanding = Mastery! Knowing the abilities and limitations of the minor pieces is very valuable for mastering the secrets of the royal game, and this can be studied best in the endgame. It is essential to understand the management of the long-range bishop, albeit confined to one color, as well as the short-range, ubiquitous knight. This book is the second volume in the authors’ acclaimed Understanding Endgames series. It follows a dual philosophy, like their previous work, Understanding Rook Endgames. It deals with seven-piece minor-piece endings in some detail. These endgames are often so deep that pre-tablebase analysis almost always contained errors. Many new discoveries are revealed here. In addition, the authors emphasize the important five- and six-piece endings every club player should know. But to really understand minor piece endings, these theoretical positions are of course not enough. Sub-chapters on the principles of each material configuration have therefore been added. Understanding Minor Piece Endgames will take you a long way to mastering these important endings. “Having had the pleasure to preview this book, I can tell you that you are in for a treat. Careful study of this book will benefit your chess immensely...” From the Foreword by GM Jacob Aagaard

Download or read book My Chess World written by David Navara and published by . This book was released on 2020-07-14 with total page 616 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is not a pure (auto)biography, rather a games collection. It consists mainly of interesting high-class games played by me, including many losses. Most of the games are preceded by accompanying texts, which vary from essays to tournament reports. The title of the book might seem presumptuous, but I wanted to show how I see or experience the competitions without denying the chess worlds of others. While the texts are mostly light and subjective, at the same time I tried hard to stick to the facts and provide some food for thought. GM David Navara May 2020.
