Book Synopsis Finding God's Life for My Will by : Mike Donehey
Download or read book Finding God's Life for My Will written by Mike Donehey and published by WaterBrook. This book was released on 2019-08-06 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ECPA BESTSELLER • The lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist for award-winning contemporary Christian band Tenth Avenue North shows readers that by seeking God first and focusing on serving Him, we can live daily in His will. "Perhaps God isn't giving me the plan because He wants to be the plan." This was the aha moment for Mike Donehey after years of wrestling with his obsession to know God's specific plans for his life. He came to the realization that waiting for absolute certainty from God before making decisions may seem uberspiritual, but it can lead to a life of intense stress, paralyzing fear, and crushing regret--just the opposite of the freedom granted to those living a Christ-filled life. "This is my story...how I gave up begging to know God's will and began to ask His life to come and change my will." With his signature humor and relentless hunger for God, Mike will show you that discovering the Father's purpose and plan for our lives is not the shell game that we all too often make it out to be. If you're unsure what to do next, take heart and accept the ultimate invitation: learn to see God as the plan, not simply the formula to the plan.

Nearer, My God, An Autobiography of Faith is William Buckley's superbly written story of his life seen through his abiding love for the Catholic Church, a love instilled in him from childhood. He reminisces about his school days in England, his family, the affect the Lunn/Knox dialogue had on him, and examines many aspects of Catholicism and its theology, doctrine and liturgy and on the way discourses about Lourdes, the vernacular mass, the Church and the State, the Crucifixion, the priesthood, contraception as well as the many people who have assisted him on his life's journey. A remarkable, revealing book about one man and his faith.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “I used to be a lesbian.” In Gay Girl, Good God, author Jackie Hill Perry shares her own story, offering practical tools that helped her in the process of finding wholeness. Jackie grew up fatherless and experienced gender confusion. She embraced masculinity and homosexuality with every fiber of her being. She knew that Christians had a lot to say about all of the above. But was she supposed to change herself? How was she supposed to stop loving women, when homosexuality felt more natural to her than heterosexuality ever could? At age nineteen, Jackie came face-to-face with what it meant to be made new. And not in a church, or through contact with Christians. God broke in and turned her heart toward Him right in her own bedroom in light of His gospel. Read in order to understand. Read in order to hope. Or read in order, like Jackie, to be made new.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Once one of the World's greatest Emperors fell in love with a village girl. The girl was homely, good and sweet; yet she was light years away from the Emperor in terms of looks and stature. The Emperor wanted to send a love letter to her. He had a million messengers at His beck and call. He could have sent the best poet in the world, who could have composed an epic on Him. Or could have sent the world's finest dancer. Or the best scholar. Or the greatest warrior. Instead the Emperor chose a lousy courier boy, who was lazing around, for the job. The boy could not speak well or run fast. Yet in a state of ecstasy he ran all the way to the girl's house. And delivered the letter. The Emperor is the Lord. And you are the girl. He has fallen in love with you. And OH MY GOD! is His love letter. I am the lousy courier boy. You may hate the courier boy. But I entreat you, my dears, don't ever neglect the message from your beloved, the Emperor. - Varalotti Rengasamy

Book Synopsis Gospel-Centered Discipleship by : Jonathan K. Dodson
Download or read book Gospel-Centered Discipleship written by Jonathan K. Dodson and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2012-03-31 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reflecting on the practice of disciple making in young adult, college, graduate, and local church contexts, Jonathan Dodson has discerned some common pitfalls. For many, discipleship is reduced to a form of religious performance before God. For others, it devolves into spiritual license and a loose adherence to spiritual facts. Both approaches distort biblical motivations for Christian obedience and are in need of reform. By explaining various motivations for discipleship, Dodson charts a biblically faithful, grace-driven alternative. Additionally, he provides a practical model for creating gospel-centered discipleship groups—small, reproducible, missional, gender-specific groups of believers that fight for faith together. This book blends both theology and practice to inspire and equip Christians to effectively fight sin, keep Jesus central, and make gospel-centered discipleship a way of life. Both new and growing Christians will learn to trust the gospel in community as they fight together for holiness as well as how to start gospel-centered community groups in any local church.

Book Synopsis Oh My God, What's Next! by : Edward Marella
Download or read book Oh My God, What's Next! written by Edward Marella and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2013-09 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In his first published book, "Oh My God, What's Next" he will share some of his life experiences with his readers and will inspire them to confront life's tragedies and disappointments with a positive and meaningful spiritual force. Edward "Eddie" Marella was born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 6, 1961.He was the son of an Italian-American family who resided in Quincy, Massachusetts. Early in Eddie's life he experienced several life changing events that forever impacted the way he viewed his future approach to life and religion. At the age of 12, while visiting his dying Grandmother, he witnessed his grandmother going through a near death experience. This was an overwhelming sight for him especially after upon awakening, she explained her experience to him. A few years later little did he know that he would directly experience what his grandmother did. At the age of 15 Eddie was in a severe motor scooter accident and was assumed dead by bystanders who saw the accident and were trying to help. This horrific accident and the near death experience that he went through would forever change his life and strengthen his religious beliefs. Later in life he again met with another serious and life threatening accident while swimming in Cape Cod. He was violently swept under an 18 ft. wave and somehow was miraculously saved and washed ashore unharmed. Eddie's lifelong experiences with near death and his battle against early stage cancer have been his inspiration to continually strengthen his belief in Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church. He attends Mass daily and is always ready to help others and to tell his story about how to strive for a healthy and happy life regardless of what life sends.
