Book Synopsis My Brother, My Lord by : Doris Broughton Heath
Download or read book My Brother, My Lord written by Doris Broughton Heath and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-04-17 with total page 978 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We know much about Jesuss early life and his last years. But there are twenty years for which little, if anything, is known. Did he simply spend his adolescence as a carpenters apprentice in Nazareth? Is that what he meant when he referred to his Fathers work? Or was there more to those two decades? Author Doris Broughton Heath was intrigued by those missing years. She used her insatiable curiosity and quest for knowledge and truth to open the door to Jesuss whereabouts during those years. Heath spent the last seven years of her life working on My Brother, My Lord: A Journey with James and Jesus from the Temple to the Tomb. She brings together Jesus and his older brother, James, and sends them on a journey to spread the Word of God. They visit new and exciting cities and discover diverse cultures as Jesus performs his first miracles. Although a work of fiction, she researched the history and biblical events known to have occurred during that time to add authenticity. After Heath died in 1991, My Brother, My Lord: A Journey with James and Jesus from the Temple to the Tomb sat untouched until her daughter, Linda Stevens, found it six years later and fulfilled her promise to her mother to have it published. Now you are invited to discover Heaths imaginings of what happened during Jesuss missing years. And perhaps come up with your own theories.

Book excerpt: This book is my way to honor my brother Shannon who was a fallen Police Officer. Shannon was the first Police officer in the state of Florida to die in the line of duty due to contracting Covid-19. My aim is to tell a love story of two brothers who lived in each other's world from childhood years into young adult years. Two brothers who eventually went opposite directions but found their way back to each other because of the bond of love. This is the story of how love bridged the chasm between a conservative evangelical preacher and an openly gay police officer.

Book Synopsis Jesus Our Brother by : Wilfrid J. Harrington
Download or read book Jesus Our Brother written by Wilfrid J. Harrington and published by Paulist Press. This book was released on 2010 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Much of what has been written about Jesus after New Testament times has taken little account of the vulnerable Jesus who died on a cross. And yet the astounding truth at the heart of Christianity is that in the human Jesus we meet God. The life of Jesus of Nazareth is the key to the meaning of Christianity. In Jesus Our Brother noted Scripture scholar Wilfrid J. Harrington offers an insightful and moving portrayal of the authentic humanity of Jesus of Nazareth that highlights Jesus' characteristically human traits and sets them in their proper context: his call to mission; how he would have seen himself and been regarded by others; his concerns; his priorities; the reaction of others to his person and to his vision. What emerges is not the dour nineteenth-century German "Jesus of history," nor the therapeutic "nice guy" Jesus beloved of our current age, but a Palestinian Jew from an obscure Galilean village who lived under the oppressive yoke of the Roman occupation; a man who displayed marked concern for the vulnerable, the despised, the outcast, and even sinners; an unfailingly compassionate and loving, prayerful, and religious man whose unshakable faith in his God enabled him to withstand severe trials and temptations; but a man not afraid to challenge the religious establishment when called for, and who could become exasperated with opponents and disciples alike. This Jesus is an appealing and a challenging figure, an uncomfortable person to have around, and Harrington's portrayal of him is based on sound penetrating biblical scholarship as well as on a deep understanding of and empathy with the human condition +

This book was released on 2021-03-18 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Peace be unto you, dear reader in search of the truth! I would like to offer you an amazing journey into the wonderful biblical world of God's extraordinary friend Abraham in order to learn more about how he was chosen by the Most High God to become the father of all of the faithful. We will not only acquaint ourselves with the famous biblical story of the righteous Abraham, but also reconstruct the events of his life to see Abraham’s personality in all of its fullness, as well as delve deeper into his relationship with God. We will do so in order to better and more accurately understand the course of his life. In addition to Abraham, we will get to know his honored wife Sarah, his nephew Lot, the mysterious king and priest Melchizedek, and a number of other biblical characters. To better prepare us for the upcoming journey, we will take not only the biblical text of the Book of Genesis, but also extracts from the works of holy fathers of the Church of Christ, as well as from the Book of Enoch and the Traditions of the Church. In addition to these sources, I had to turn to the divine revelations that our Lord God graciously deigned to offer me for the writing of this book. Allow me to remind you that Abraham was first called Abram, and his wife was known as Sarai. And so, having prayed to God, let us begin our amazing journey through the life of one of the greatest and most pious people in all of human history - Abraham.

Book excerpt: "It was only after the consideration of many months and after much self-examination as to my motives, and after much earnest prayer, that I came to the conclusion to write this work. I have not taken one single step in the Lord's service, concerning which I have prayed so much. My great dislike to increasing the number of religious books would, in itself, have been sufficient to have kept me forever from it, had I not cherished the hope of being instrumental in this way to lead some of my brethren to value the Holy Scriptures more, and to judge by the standard of the word of God the principles on which they act."

Download or read book The First Book of God written by Tzemah L. Yoreh and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2010-05-26 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book the author thoroughly examines the pentateuchal elohistic source, its structural unity and its relationship to the yahwistic source. His conclusions differ considerably from the accepted paradigm in the following ways: 1) In contrast to current scholarly opinions, it is assumed that E is the first basic pentateuchal source and that it predates J. J functions as E’s first supplementary redactor – much as F. M. Cross, among others, conceived of P’s redaction of J. 2) The name “Elohim” is used exclusively by the elohistic source even after Exodus 3 while the verses in Exodus 3 revealing Yahweh’s name can be shown to be later additions. 3) Instead of the fragmentary source described by scholars, this study demonstrates the literary unity of E.
