Realizing that upon the shoulders of those identified with the administration of public affairs rested primarily the tremendous task of preparing San Francisco to be hostess to the world, and that to their efforts must be attributed the fact that San Francisco was ready in 1915, this volume is published in the nature of a tribute to their services and success. Their's shall always be remembered as the "Exposition Administration," and when it is realized what problems confronted them, the difficulties of transportation, police regulations, water supply, accommodations and the innumerable minor details attendant upon the holding of a world's exposition, it must be conceded that their work has been well performed.
