Book Synopsis Demand Fulfillment in Multi-Stage Customer Hierarchies by : Sebastian Vogel
Download or read book Demand Fulfillment in Multi-Stage Customer Hierarchies written by Sebastian Vogel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-08-04 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book extends the existing demand fulfillment research by considering multi-stage customer hierarchies. Basis is a two-step allocation and consumption planning procedure. In the existing literature, it is assumed that the customer segments are ‘flat’. This means they can be sorted easily during the allocation planning step by a single central planner in decreasing order of profitability. In the subsequent consumption planning phase, if order requests differ in terms of profit margins, companies can render prioritized service in real time to their most profitable customers by consuming the reserved quotas.
Book Synopsis Dynamic Resource Allocation in Team Contests with Imperfectly Discriminatory Elimination by : Xutang Sun
Download or read book Dynamic Resource Allocation in Team Contests with Imperfectly Discriminatory Elimination written by Xutang Sun and published by . This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We study a class of multi-stage imperfectly discriminatory team contests with Blotto budgets and complete information. We fully characterize the pure strategy Nash equilibrium for this class of contests under certain basic assumptions, and show that in the two-stage case, there will be a unique pure strategy Nash equilibrium. In equilibrium, the effect of not very strong intra-group endowment differences will be completely erased, and the contest will show a strong ``intra-team fairness'' property. When the contest is extended to three or more stages, there will be still a unique symmetric equilibrium, but will also exist a continuum of asymmetric equilibria. The equilibrium outcome under the 3+ stage setting still maintains ``the generalized intra-group fairness'' property, which means that the combat units in the same superior combat unit in the previous stage, will invest the same resources in this stage.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: (E-book available via MyiLibrary) In even the most market-oriented economies, most economic transactions occur not in markets but inside managed organizations, particularly business firms. Organizational economics seeks to understand the nature and workings of such organizations and their impact on economic performance. The Handbook of Organizational Economics surveys the major theories, evidence, and methods used in the field. It displays the breadth of topics in organizational economics, including the roles of individuals and groups in organizations, organizational structures and processes, the boundaries of the firm, contracts between and within firms, and more.

Book Synopsis Integrated Evaluation for the Management of Contemporary Cities by : Giulio Mondini
Download or read book Integrated Evaluation for the Management of Contemporary Cities written by Giulio Mondini and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-06-06 with total page 618 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights a selection of the best papers presented at the 2016 SIEV conference “The Laudato sì Encyclical Letter and Valuation. Cities between Conflict and Solidarity, Decay and Regeneration, Exclusion and Participation”, which was held in Rome, Italy, in April 2016, and brought together experts from a diverse range of fields – economics, appraisal, architecture, energy, urban planning, sociology, and the decision sciences – and government representatives. The book is divided into four parts: Human Ecology: Values and Paradigms; Integral Ecology and Natural Resource Management; Intergenerational Equity; and How to Enhance Dialogue and Transparency in Decision-making Processes. Cities are where 72% of all Europeans live, and this percentage is expected to rise to 80% by 2050. Given this trend towards urbanization, cities are continuously growing, which also entails a growing risk of social segregation, lack of security and mounting environmental problems. All too often, today’s cities have to cope with social and environmental crises, shifting the European urban agenda towards regeneration processes. Urban regeneration is more complex than merely renovating existing buildings, as it also involves social and environmental problems, inhabitants’ quality of life, protecting tangible and intangible cultural resources, innovation and business.
Book Synopsis Multi-level Evolutionary Algorithms Resource Allocation Utilizing Model-based Systems Engineering by : Bhanuchander Reddy Poreddy
Download or read book Multi-level Evolutionary Algorithms Resource Allocation Utilizing Model-based Systems Engineering written by Bhanuchander Reddy Poreddy and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This research presents an innovative approach to solve the resource allocation problems using Multi-level Evolutionary Algorithms. Evolutionary Algorithms are used to solve resource allocation problems in different domains and their results are then incorporated into a higher level system solution using another Evolutionary Algorithm to solve base camp planning problems currently faced by the U.S. Department of Defense. Two models are introduced to solve two domain specific models: a logistics model and a power model. The logistic model evaluates routes for logistics vehicles on a daily basis with a goal of reducing fuel usage by delivery trucks. The evaluation includes distance traveled and other constraints such as available resource levels and priority of refilling. The Power model incorporates an open source electrical distribution simulator to evaluate the placement of structures and generators on a map to reduce fuel usage. These models are used as the fitness function for two separate Evolutionary Algorithms to find solutions that reduce fuel consumption within the individual domains. A multi-level Evolutionary Algorithm is then presented, where the two Evolutionary Algorithms share information with a higher level Evolutionary Algorithm that combines the results to account for problem complexity from the interfacing of these systems. The results of using these methods on 5 different base camp sizes show that the techniques provide a considerable reduction of fuel consumption. While the Evolutionary Algorithms show significant improvement over the current methods, the multi-level Evolutionary Algorithm shows better performance than using individual Evolutionary Algorithms, with the results showing a 19.25 % decrease in fuel consumption using the multi-level Evolutionary Algorithm"--Abstract, page iii.
