It is a holistic plan to correct the historical wrongs through an overarching and strident change from the India’s soft state image. It involves reclaiming territories lost or willingly ceded by earlier governments to its neighbouring countries. Among the eleven identified action areas, for India, the most crucial is liberation of Balochistan from the illegal stranglehold of Pakistan. The canny National Security Adviser has an ingenious plan that involves active cooperation from the other three members of the Quad, those being the US, Japan and Australia. Over several meetings the countries work out RAW protagonists, Vipul and Megha, are in the hot seat. India is waiting for the opportune moment to launch the plan. The Covid19 hit and the related unrest in China—being more devastating than China is willing to admit—provides that. On August 14, 2020, Baloch rebels strike. The game is on. Within days, the world finds that both China and Pakistan are cut down to size.

Book excerpt: When framers of the American Constitution debated the document (and form of government) in 1787, they chose not to adopt the British system as they knew its flaws. In 230 years, USA has grown beyond what the framers could have envisioned, but the Constitution has endured. The American President has far less powers than the British PM. British PM William Evert Gladstone had said: “Nowhere is there a man who has so much power with so little to show for it in the way of formal title or prerogative.” British historian Sir Sidney JM Low wrote in 1904: “An English Prime Minister, with his majority secure in parliament, can do what the German Emperor, the American President, and all the Chairmen of all the Committees of the United States’ Congress, cannot do (together).” India was already the world’s largest democracy on August 15, 1947, but, for almost 2½ years, we followed the British Constitution. The 6-member Constitution Drafting Committee, with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar as Chairman, prepared a draft Constitution. This was debated and 2000+ amendments were moved over two years. On November 26, 1949, the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution. The committee had several choices in which model to follow. In 1947, USA’s population was about 44% of India, but we still chose to adopt a system from a country which was just 15% our size. ALL BECAUSE OF ONE MAN WHO HAD VERY CAREFULLY READ SIR LOW’S WORDS AND WANTED THAT ABSOLUTE POWER FOR HIMSELF. Has the parliamentary form of government worked for us over the past 68 years?

The Prime Minister’s Office called the book a work of ‘fiction’, the press hailed it as a revelatory account of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s first term in UPA. Written by Singh’s media adviser and trusted aide, the book describes Singh’s often troubled relations with his ministers, his cautious equation with Sonia Gandhi and how he handled the big crises from managing the Left to pushing through the nuclear deal. Insightful, acute and packed with political anecdotes, The Accidental Prime Minister is one of the great insider accounts of Indian political life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A revealing memoir by the Israeli leader who almost made peace with the Palestinians Written almost entirely from inside a prison cell, Searching for Peace is the compelling memoir of former Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert. The child of parents who were members of the Irgun, the paramilitary group that fought for the establishment of Israel, Olmert became the youngest member of the Israeli Knesset in 1973, serving in the right-wing Likud party. He rose quickly in the party, serving in national government before being elected mayor of Jerusalem in 1993. As mayor he overcame decades of municipal malaise, inertia, and waves of terror attacks to bring huge improvements in the city's infrastructure, education, and welfare. Although a child of the Israeli right, it was during his mayoralty that he realized the inevitability of compromise and the need to divide the city in any future peace agreement with the Palestinians. Olmert rejoined the national government in 2003 as a top aide to then-Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. After Sharon suffered a debilitating stroke in 2006, Olmert took over as acting prime minister, then led Sharon's new centrist party Kadima to victory in elections. Heading a coalition government, Olmert led Israel through the war with Lebanon in July 2006 and approved the dramatic strike on Syria's nuclear reactor the following year. From late 2006 through 2008, Olmert engaged in some three dozen negotiations with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas. The talks, Olmert says, came “within a hair's breadth” of reaching a comprehensive peace deal. At the same time, Olmert was fighting allegations that he had illegally accepted large sums of money from a well-connected American businessman. He was acquitted of all but a minor charge against him, but in 2014 he was convicted on charges of taking $15,000 in bribes involving the construction of an industrial park while he served as Minister of Industry and Trade. He served 16 months in prison, using his time to write these memoirs. Searching for Peace offers a riveting political story and an unparalleled window into Israeli history, peacemaking, politics, U.S.-Israel relations, and the future of the Middle East.

Book excerpt: "One vs All: Narendra Modi-Pariah to Paragon is all truth. Ashok Anand has dissected ages-old layers of ignorance, myths and ego with his surgical observation to let the truth breathe out of the diseased society. It shames the political class, bureaucracy and religious bigots. It unmasks an absolutely hypocrite society that clings to the past, despises change, lives in denial but notorious for hidden avarice, arrogance and lust. Each chapter of this book will unfold many bitter truths. Have ever thought why a poor tea-seller boy, today occupying the prime minister's chair, is not corrupt, greedy and foul-mouthed like most of the others in the country? How a "Pariah" pronounced by the anti-national political forces could become a "Paragon" of values? The Indian society, howsoever ignorant and selfish maybe, needs space to evolve, grow and prosper. Would Narendra Modi be able to do that? Truth is very hard to digest. If brave enough, go ahead and read. Not a thriller. Better than a thriller. One vs. All: Narendra Modi-Pariah to Paragon takes the reader to the demonic world of Indian politics, surrounded by the intrigues of a superstitious and ignorant society that loves dwelling in the past and detests any change.
