Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Join the music lesson as Mr. Fluff, the rascally orange tabby cat, insists on helping Ian teach his students. In this timeless new series, evocative of vintage-styled 1960’s illustrated early reader books, an adventurous cat believes he is the teacher of the music lessons - not his owner Ian.. Today was Ian’s first day back teaching music lessons to children just like he used to before they moved to their new home in the Tall Tower. It was the job of Mr. Fluff to help Ian teach the lessons. He could tell it was almost time to begin because Ian was buzzing all around the office nervously getting things ready. “OK,” Ian said, “The piano is tuned and ready to go and here is all the music I will give to the students. Am I forgetting something? What am I forgetting?” “Treats,” meowed Mr. Fluff, “You always give them candy.” “Candy!” shouted Ian. “That’s right, I can’t forget treats for the children.” Ian ran around the kitchen, opening up each and every cabinet and drawer. No candy. “Drat!” Ian shouted again. He ran frantically into the bedroom where Mr. Fluff could hear him throwing things around and searching through boxes. “Yes! I knew we had some candy somewhere! Here’s a bag of candy in a box that we haven’t unpacked yet from when we moved in” Ian yelled with great joy. “Gnnnnow,” Mr. Fluff said, chuckling. Mr. Fluff is excited about the lessons starting back up - after all he believes that he is the teacher that the young students are coming to see.. And why shouldn’t he believe he’s the teacher? He is there to greet each student and sits on the desk or a chair in Ian’s studio while the lesson is going on. He talks (meows) to the students to tell them they are doing a good job with their singing or piano playing. Mr. Fluff is sure that the children are really there to see him - not Ian. The door opened and Elena, a ten year old girl, walked in excitedly. “Mr. Fluff - I’ve missed you so much!” she said as Mr. Fluff walked over to her and brushed by her leg. She bent down to pet him and he gave her hand a quick rub with his head - and then a quick lick (kiss) on her hand as well. “Good to see you again, Elena,” said Ian, “How is school going since I last saw you?” “Good,” said Elena, smiling. “Let’s start the lesson!” The lesson began with something Ian calls ‘warmups.’ This is when Ian and the student make their voices sound funny and not as good as when they are singing a normal song. Elena was getting ready to go on something called an ‘audition’ and Ian was trying very hard to help her sing the song really well. The song she was singing was called, “Let me sing and I’m Happy.” Mr. Fluff really liked the sound of that because he always liked to sing when Elena was singing because it made him feel happy. In fact, when Elena was about half way through the song, Mr. Fluff decided to join in. “Oooooow, gnowwwww” sang Mr. Fluff. “Mr. Fluff’s a good singer, don’t you agree Mr. Ian?,” Elena joked. “He thinks he is,” Ian said, laughing. Author David Brandt expertly weaves an early reader in a vintage fashion reminiscent of Frog and Toad and illustrated in a charming retro style by Olga Lavrova with soft painterly images evocative of the timeless art of Emil Weiss. Perfect for the youngest readers, Brandt’s stories use a nostalgic language style, pointedly incorporating sight words which are reiterated in a glossary at the book’s end, to bring a whimsical and fun tale featuring his gallant and venturous character, Mr. Fluff.

In the beginning, blindsided by losing the school choir to challenges, Tory meets an energetic 16-year-old football player who has a lot more on the ball than sports. The opposites attract couple connect as they try to save the high school choir and end up falling into the world of time travel which is a road to reaching their goal together. Tory is a bright and adventurous heroine, spellbound by TATE WILLIAMS, a young man easy on the eyes who rescues her in both their time traveling and present-day events. While the couple and their friends go on a rescue mission somewhere in time, they land in a world of helping others in need. The amazing surprise is that by spinning their wool bracelets (a gift from their teacher) takes them back to the past—but it’s the power of kindness and the right timing and place thanks to time travel that helps to save the teens’ yesteryear friends’ lives and preserve their beloved choir for the school, community, and their passion for the sound of music that resonates in time worldwide. If you liked the positive film Groundhog Day with time loops, and those spicy adventures in Harry Potter, you’ll love this one-of-a-kind timely and timeless saga. Most importantly, the theme of kindness and its miracles put to work by selfless teens, plays a major role in the moving stories, past and present in time.

Book excerpt: Bob Wiseman believes most things in life are universal or, as Lauryn Hill says, everything is everything. Bearing in mind that advice, Wiseman writes about finding the link between music and daily life, like what is common between Mary Margaret O’Hara, hiding around the corner with the lights turned off in order to record herself and his 5-year-old insisting he stop hurrying to her dance lesson and marvel at the fluff ball she is blowing toward the ceiling. Each entry is unique and compellingly written, but the themes throughout — on improvisational music, life lessons, and conflict — are ubiquitous.

Book excerpt: Logan auditions for the school play and is chosen for the role of Chipmunk Number Three, but unfortunately, Java, Logan's robot cousin, doesn't get a part, which means he and Logan won't be hanging out together every day after school. Logan's excited to have something to himself and starts spending more and more time with his new friends. Now with so much time on his hands, Java is determined to make some new friends, too--the dishwasher, the electric mixer, the refrigerator . . . But his favorite new friend is Spike, the voice activated program on Mrs. Applebaum's cell phone. While Java can't be in the play, he ends up helping out with building the sets, and almost blows his cover! But when Logan freezes and forgets his lines on stage, and Java (who has memorized them in an instant) feeds them to him the Cyrano-style, it's the android who saves the day. After all, that's what friends are for. Internationally bestselling author Nancy Krulik and her incredibly talented daughter, Amanda Burwasser, spin hilarious high jinks in the fourth book in the Project Droid series, which combines the literalness of Amelia Bedelia with a wacky modern edge, making for hours of laughter. And the fun continues with an activity in the back!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Mr. Fluff, a rascally orange tabby, moves from the suburbs to the big city, he isn’t sure he likes his new home. In this timeless new series, evocative of vintage-styled 1960’s illustrated early reader books, an adventurous cat explores city living. Lying on his belly soaking up the warm sun and listening to the birds outside, Mr. Fluff had the perfect life, or so he thought. When the orange tabby goes for a car ride one day with his human family, he ends up in a building that reaches the sky, a place the humans call their new home. So begins the escapades of Mr. Fluff the cat in this classically styled early reader, Mr. Fluff and the Tall Tower, the debut title in The Adventures of Mr. Fluff early reader series by David Brandt. Mr. Fluff isn’t sure he likes apartment living—he is an outdoor cat, after all. He needs some convincing. When he sneaks out into the hallway of his new apartment and meets a sweet neighbor who shares a strange and delicious treat, Mr. Fluff decides maybe city living isn’t so bad. “Why, hello!” said a grey-haired woman as she looked down at Mr. Fluff with a smile. “Where on earth did you come from?” She took one of the slices of pastrami out of the small bag. Then she took a knife and chopped it up into tiny pieces and put it on a pretty plate. She put the plate down on the ground. Mr. Fluff loved the delicious meat with a salty, spicy flavor. He decided that pastrami was his new favorite food. Fluff.

After a bit of an unusual start to the school year, things are finally starting to seem normal. As normal as they ever could be at this decidedly unusual school, anyway. Until his Facts After the Fact (aka History) teacher Mr. Faboo goes missing, right in the middle of his favorite lesson of the year, leaving the class not a clue as to why or how. And his Four Square (aka Phys Ed) teacher introduces a new unit that is decidedly distressing. And Thomas's neighbor, the formerly friendless Chip (he of the wacky sock collection), swoops in and bonds with all of Thomas's friends, leaving Thomas in the dust. This year is getting out of control, and it's up to Thomas to take matters into his own hands. It's time... for a revolution. Featuring black-and-white illustrations throughout, this wildly funny follow-up to Pennybaker School is Headed for Disaster is full of humor and wacky wit by acclaimed author Jennifer Brown.
