Download or read book Electron Spin Resonance written by Philip Henri Rieger and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes in mathematical terms the extraction of useful information from ESR spectra as applied to paramagnetic organic, inorganic and organometalic molecules. It lays a firm groundwork for understanding more sophisticated experiments, which the availability of newer commercial instruments has made possible. It takes the reader step by step through obtaining and interpretating ESR spectra of paramagnetic molecules. The mathematical basis of each observed phenomena are detailed and examples given. In particular there is a detailed discussion of 2nd order pertubation theory treatment of the Spin Hamiltonian for non-coincident G and A axes.

Book Synopsis Electron Spin Resonance by : Bruce C. Gilbert
Download or read book Electron Spin Resonance written by Bruce C. Gilbert and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 1996 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.

Book Synopsis Spin Labeling by : Lawrence J. Berliner
Download or read book Spin Labeling written by Lawrence J. Berliner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 662 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present this special topics volume on an area which has not received thorough coverage for over 12 years. Spin Labeling: Theory and Applications represents a complete update on new theoretical aspects and applications of the spin-label method. In the "line-shape theory" sections, we are especially pleased to include an IBM-compatible diskette supplied by David Schneider and Jack Freed which contains fast, accurate, ready-to-use software for slow-motion simulations. Barney Bales discusses inhomogeneous broadening phenomena in detail. Several developments in techniques and interpretation in saturation transfer spectroscopy have appeared since the publica tion of Spin Labeling II: Theory and Applications (L. J. Berliner, ed., Academic Press, 1979). We have included an up-to-date chapter on spin-label applications by M. A. Hemminga and P. A. de Jager. By incorporating 15N and deuterium into nitroxide spin labels, several unique advantages are derived in line-shape analysis. Albert Beth and Bruce Robinson have contributed a detailed chapter on the analysis of these labels in the slow-motion regime while Jane Park and Wolfgang Trommer present the advantages for specific biochemical examples in our "applications" section. Derek Marsh's contri bution on spin-label spectral analysis may be regarded as a summary chapter which touches on several of the detailed spectral analysis methods described in the earlier chapters.

Book Synopsis Pulsed Electron–Electron Double Resonance by : Yuri D. Tsvetkov
Download or read book Pulsed Electron–Electron Double Resonance written by Yuri D. Tsvetkov and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-12-28 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers the basic theory and techniques, as well as various applications of pulsed electron–electron double resonance (PELDOR or DEER). This electron paramagnetic resonance technique is able to measure the distances and the distribution of distances between electron spins in the 1.5–15 nanometer scale; to determine the geometry of spin-labeled molecules; to estimate the number of interacting spins in spin clusters; and to characterize the spatial distribution of paramagnetic centers. As a result, PELDOR is now a popular method in EPR spectroscopy, particularly in the context of biologically important systems and soft matter and is also applied to problems in physical chemistry, biochemistry, polymers, soft matter and materials. Enabling readers to gain an understanding of the fundamentals of the PELDOR methods and an appreciation of the opportunities PELDOR provides, the book helps readers solve their own physical and biochemical problems.
Book Synopsis High-frequency Time Domain Electron Paramagnetic Resonance by : Galit Bar
Download or read book High-frequency Time Domain Electron Paramagnetic Resonance written by Galit Bar and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: (Cont.) The advantage of the time domain detection scheme is demonstrated in chapters 4, 5 and 6. A stimulated echo sequence is used to separate different organic radicals associated with the reduction chemistry and inhibition mechanisms of RNR. Using the dispersion in relaxation rates at high temperature ([approximately] 60 K) it is possible to filter the multi component spectrum. The assignment of new radicals is possible at high field, 5 T, due to the high resolution in g anisotropy. The findings support earlier proposals for the mechanism of nucleotide reduction and inhibition of this very important enzyme. To study photoexcited triplet molecules a light source was coupled to the high frequency spectrometer and the pulsed mode detection scheme was used to acquire EPR spectra. The new technique is demonstrated on several model systems. In addition to the basic advantages described above, high frequency EPR opens new frontiers for high spin systems, S>[or equal to] 1, with large spin-spin interaction. Because of the inverse field dependency of the zero field splitting, such systems may be totally EPR-silent at normal EPR frequencies. However their EPR spectra are accessible at high frequencies due to the reduction of linewidth. The Mn(II), S = 5/2, in superoxide dismutase (SOD) is a good example for such system.
