Download or read book Molecular Distortions in Ionic and Excited States written by Peter V. Schastnev and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1995-08-25 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses the achievements in the study on the structure of active species being formed at the change of molecule charge or electronic state. It gives a systematic outline of the problem of molecular structure distortions in radical ionic and excited states involving experimental and theoretical material. The text focuses on analyzing the physical reasons for structural distortion occurrences at a model level and also with results of detailed quantum-chemical calculations. The book presents numerous facts on the structural distortions in ions of various types of organic molecules. Data is presented for the first time on distortions in radical ions of polyfluoroaromatics and other conjugated molecules.
Book Synopsis Molecular Ions by : Joseph Berkowitz
Download or read book Molecular Ions written by Joseph Berkowitz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 597 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume contains contributions presented at the NATO Advanced Study Institute on Molecular Ions held on the island of Kos, Greece, from September 30 to October 10, 1980. The meeting was attended by some 60 participants from 15 different countries. It was the first meeting devoted exclusively to the topic of molecular ions. Its vitality derived from bringing together experts and students from a wide variety of disciplines, whose studies bear upon the structure of molecular ions. The aim of the meeting was to assemble these scientists, representing many countries in Europe and North America, to discuss the advances and capabilities of the various experimental and theoretical approaches and to point out un solved problems and directions for future research. The format, in volving lecturers and students, served as a tutorial. Molecular ions play an important role in very diverse fields of nature such as reactions in the ionosphere, the processes of forma tion of molecules in dense interstellar clouds, and the magnetohydro dynamics of plasmas used for energy generation. Our understanding of the properties of molecular ions, their electronic and geometric structures, has been developing from a variety of sources, as far removed as tickling ions with radiofre quency radiation and smashing them apart at relativistic energies. Various laser techniques are described, and the queen of structural determination, spectroscopy, is well represented. On the instrumen tal side, older techniques have been perfected and new methods have evolved.

Book Synopsis Mass Spectrometry for Chemists and Biochemists by : Robert A. W. Johnstone
Download or read book Mass Spectrometry for Chemists and Biochemists written by Robert A. W. Johnstone and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1996-10-17 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the full range of mass spectrometry techniques and applications. This versatile technique is in ubiquitous use in universities and industry laboratories because of its ability to identify and quantify materials quickly and, if necessary, in minute amounts, and solve analytical problems in a huge variety of fields. The authors adopt an instructional approach and make use of recent examples to illustrate important points. This second edition includes new methods and applications that have developed in the last ten years. Powerful methods combining mass spectrometry with newer separation techniques, the increased use of computers, and analysis of once difficult polar and large-mass compounds such as proteins using new ionisation methods are all discussed. Requiring no previous knowledge of mass spectrometry, this is an ideal teaching text at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, and will also be of considerable interest to research workers.
Book Synopsis NMR of Paramagnetic Molecules by : G. N. La Mar
Download or read book NMR of Paramagnetic Molecules written by G. N. La Mar and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 695 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NMR of Paramagnetic Molecules: Principles and Applications is a compendium of papers that discusses the physical principles behind the technique of nuclear magnetic resonance, as well as, evaluates the scope and limitation of the applications of NMR in chemistry and biology. These papers emphasize the applications of the technique in chemistry and biochemistry where it widely used, particularlyon NMR experiments in the liquid state. Some papers describe the theoretical factors governing the resonance position and linewidth, and then also interpret magnetic resonance parameters in terms of electronic structure. Another paper investigates the gap between the mathematical complexities of earlier experiments and the operational aspects of chemical information from the spectra. Examples show studies in biochemical molecules and process in events where contact interactions are present either as a result of intrinsic molecular paramagnetism or are just induced through the addition of suitable paramagnetic probes. One paper presents the definitive and controversial results involving stereochemistry and deuterium NMR. This collection of papers will prove useful for nuclear physicists, researchers, and academicians in the field of nuclear physics.
Book Synopsis Advances in Superconductivity by : Koichi Kitazawa
Download or read book Advances in Superconductivity written by Koichi Kitazawa and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 866 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intense recent activity in the field of high-temperature superconductivity both in Japan and in the rest of the world was discussed at the First International Symposium on Superconductivity held in Nagoya in August 1988. Current research and development efforts by major Japanese companies in the field of high-temperature superconductivity are reported by leading company scientists, to give an overview of the high level of activity in the area. Progress in the development of new materials and recent theoretical work is reported both from Japanese and international researchers. Contributions are organized by topic, with such topics as crystal chemistry and electronic structure, processing and microstructure, tapes and thick films, wires and coils, and thin film processing and properties. Future applications of superconductivity including magnetic levitation vehicles, electronics based on Josephson junctions, power delivery, energy storage, ship propulsion and magnetic resonance imaging are particularly stressed.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Message from The Taniguchi Foundation Dr. Kanamori, Distinguished Guests and Friends: The Taniguchi Foundation wishes to welcome the participants of the nine teenth International Symposium on the Theory of Condensed Matter, who have come from within this country and from different parts of the world. The concept of the symposium is unique in that participants, both Japanese and from abroad, are limited in number to small discussion groups, and live together, although for a short period, as a close-knit community. We feel that this kind of environment will assist towards the strengthening of understanding and the fostering of friendship among the attendees. It is easy to talk about, but difficult to realize, the ideal of international friendship and understanding in a world which is steadily growing smaller. So far, the Foundation has invited a total of 149 participants in this division from 24 foreign countries and 299 participants from Japan. And we are all friends. We hope and trust that even after they have reached the heights of academic fame during the coming decades, the participants will continue to join forces and help to forge closer bonds of friendship and cooperation that will make major contributions not only to academia, but also towards world peace and the welfare of mankind. We hope that all the participants will return home with warm memories of both this symposium and the pleasant times that we have shared. Thank you.
