Book Synopsis Modular Systems for Energy and Fuel Recovery and Conversion by : Yatish T. Shah
Download or read book Modular Systems for Energy and Fuel Recovery and Conversion written by Yatish T. Shah and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-06-28 with total page 612 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modular Systems for Energy and Fuel Recovery and Conversion surveys the benefits of the modular approach in the front end of the energy industry. The book also outlines strategies for managing modular approaches for fossil, renewable, and nuclear energy resource recovery and conversion with the help of successful industrial examples. The book points out that while the modular approach is most applicable for distributed and small-scale energy systems, it is also often used for parts of large-scale centralized systems. With the help of successful industrial examples of modular approaches for energy and fuel recovery and conversion, the book points out the need for more balance between large-scale centralized systems and small-scale distributed systems to serve the energy needs of rural and isolated communities. Coal, oil, natural gas, hydrogen, biomass, waste, nuclear, geothermal solar, wind, and hydro energy are examined, showing that modular operations are very successfully used in all these components of the energy industry. Aimed at academic researchers and industry professionals, this book provides successful examples and analysis of the modular operation for energy and fuel recovery and conversion. It is also a reference for those who are engaged in the development of modular systems for energy and fuel recovery and conversion.

Book Synopsis Modular Mooring System for Ocean Construction by : John M. Atturio
Download or read book Modular Mooring System for Ocean Construction written by John M. Atturio and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The modular mooring system is a reusable, multileg mooring system for vessels of opportunity. This document describes modular mooring components, outlines maintenance requirements, and describes system performance. Mooring components were purchased to establish a spread mooring for small ocean construction vessels of the LCM 6 to LCU size. The system components, packaged in four multi-purpose equipment shelters to facilitate shipping and storage, include two hydraulic winches, an anchor windlass, 3,200 ft of 1/2-in. alloy steel chain, four urethane foam mooring buoys, 4,800 ft of braided nylon, and four 200-lb Danforth anchors. Analysis of the system showed that vessel excursion and system stresses in shallow water are especially sensitive to wave excitation. Mooring line forces approaching 10,000 lb are predicted for all vessels in sea state 4 conditions. A suggested mooring design procedure is included. (Author).

Book Synopsis Telematics in the Transport Environment by : Jerzy Mikulski
Download or read book Telematics in the Transport Environment written by Jerzy Mikulski and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-09-25 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book constitutes the proceedings of the 12th International Conference on Transport Systems Telematics, TST 2012, held in Katowice-Ustron, Poland, in October 2012. The 48 papers included in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in this book. Transport telematics are the systems using the information and communication technologies in the area of infrastructure and of means of transport and its participants. An intelligent transport covers systems that allow, through the data transmission and analysis, to influence the behaviour of road users and the action of technical elements in means of transport or along the traffic route. Intelligent transport systems - in accordance with the European Directive - are used for the transport management informatisation. The research shows that the use of telematics can significantly increase the efficiency of the transport system, the road safety and the environmental protection. This book provides an overview of solutions being developed in the field of intelligent transportation systems, and includes theoretical and case studies in the countries of conference participants.
Book Synopsis Encyclopedia of Ocean Engineering by : Weicheng Cui
Download or read book Encyclopedia of Ocean Engineering written by Weicheng Cui and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-06-29 with total page 2203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This encyclopedia adopts a wider definition for the concept of ocean engineering. Specifically, it includes (1) offshore engineering: fixed and floating offshore oil and gas platforms; pipelines and risers; cables and moorings; buoy technology; foundation engineering; ocean mining; marine and offshore renewable energy; aquaculture engineering; and subsea engineering; (2) naval architecture: ship and special marine vehicle design; intact and damaged stability; technology for energy efficiency and green shipping; ship production technology; decommissioning and recycling; (3) polar and Arctic Engineering: ice mechanics; ice-structure interaction; polar operations; polar design; environmental protection; (4) underwater technologies: AUV/ROV design; AUV/ROV hydrodynamics; maneuvering and control; and underwater-specific communicating and sensing systems for AUV/ROVs. It summarizes the A–Z of the background and application knowledge of ocean engineering for use by ocean scientists and ocean engineers as well as nonspecialists such as engineers and scientists from all disciplines, economists, students, and politicians. Ocean engineering theories, ocean devices and equipment, ocean design and operation technologies are described by international experts, many from industry and each entry offers an introduction and references for further study, making current technology and operating practices available for future generations to learn from. The book also furthers our understanding of the current state of the art, leading to new and more efficient technologies with breakthroughs from new theory and materials. As the land resources approach the exploitation limit, ocean resources are becoming the next choice for the sustainable development. As such, ocean engineering is vital in the 21st century.
