Book Synopsis Asymptotic Theory of Supersonic Viscous Gas Flows by : Vladimir Neyland
Download or read book Asymptotic Theory of Supersonic Viscous Gas Flows written by Vladimir Neyland and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2008-02-06 with total page 563 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book in English devoted to the latest developments in fluid mechanics and aerodynamics. Written by the leading authors in the field, based at the renowned Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute in Moscow, it deals with viscous gas flow problems that arise from supersonic flows. These complex problems are central to the work of researchers and engineers dealing with new aircraft and turbomachinery development (jet engines, compressors and other turbine equipment). The book presents the latest asymptotical models, simplified Navier-Stokes equations and viscous-inviscid interaction theroies and will be of critical interest to researchers, engineers, academics and advanced graduate students in the areas of fluid mechanics, compressible flows, aerodynamics and aircraft design, applied mathematics and computational fluid dynamics. - The first book in English to cover the latest methodology for incopressible flow analysis of high speed aerodynamics, an essential topic for those working on new generation aircraft and turbomachinery - Authors are internationally recognised as the leading figures in the field - Includes a chapter introducing asymptotical methods to enable advanced level students to use the book

Book Synopsis Shock Wave-Boundary-Layer Interactions by : Holger Babinsky
Download or read book Shock Wave-Boundary-Layer Interactions written by Holger Babinsky and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2011-09-12 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shock wave-boundary-layer interaction (SBLI) is a fundamental phenomenon in gas dynamics that is observed in many practical situations, ranging from transonic aircraft wings to hypersonic vehicles and engines. SBLIs have the potential to pose serious problems in a flowfield; hence they often prove to be a critical - or even design limiting - issue for many aerospace applications. This is the first book devoted solely to a comprehensive, state-of-the-art explanation of this phenomenon. It includes a description of the basic fluid mechanics of SBLIs plus contributions from leading international experts who share their insight into their physics and the impact they have in practical flow situations. This book is for practitioners and graduate students in aerodynamics who wish to familiarize themselves with all aspects of SBLI flows. It is a valuable resource for specialists because it compiles experimental, computational and theoretical knowledge in one place.

Book Synopsis Separation of Flow by : Paul K. Chang
Download or read book Separation of Flow written by Paul K. Chang and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-06-28 with total page 800 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Interdisciplinary and Advanced Topics in Science and Engineering, Volume 3: Separation of Flow presents the problem of the separation of fluid flow. This book provides information covering the fields of basic physical processes, analyses, and experiments concerning flow separation. Organized into 12 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the flow separation on the body surface as discusses in various classical examples. This text then examines the analytical and experimental results of the laminar boundary layer of steady, two-dimensional flows in the subsonic speed range. Other chapters consider the study of flow separation on the two-dimensional body, flow separation on three-dimensional body shape and particularly on bodies of revolution. This book discusses as well the analytical solutions of the unsteady flow separation. The final chapter deals with the purpose of separation flow control to raise efficiency or to enhance the performance of vehicles and fluid machineries involving various engineering applications. This book is a valuable resource for engineers.

Book Synopsis A Study of Flow Separation in Regions of Shock Wave-boundary Layer Interaction in Hypersonic Flow by : Michael S. Holden
Download or read book A Study of Flow Separation in Regions of Shock Wave-boundary Layer Interaction in Hypersonic Flow written by Michael S. Holden and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes a theoretical and experimental investigation of the properties of attached and separated regions of shock wave-laminar boundary layer interacting in the strong interaction regime. The flow is studied over a flat plate-wedge compression surface in the high Mach number, low Reynolds number regime where the interaction between the viscous and inviscid regions over the basic flat plate is strong and of fundamental importance to the problem. The theoretical analysis treats the development of the viscous layer and its interaction with the external inviscid stream, using an integral representation for the boundary layer equations. A complementary experimental study investigated the flow over a flat plate-wedge compression surface for a range of free-stream Reynolds number and Mach number conditions in the strong interaction regime.
Book Synopsis An Outline of Methods Applicable to Viscous Fluid Flow Problems by : Trevor H. Moulden
Download or read book An Outline of Methods Applicable to Viscous Fluid Flow Problems written by Trevor H. Moulden and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Given the Navier-Stokes equations in general orthogonal curvilinear coordinates, specific equations for particular cases are indicated. In the notation of singular perturbation theory, the first approximation to the inner expansion (boundary-layer) is solved in simple cases. Some remarks are also made concerning shock-wave boundary-layer interactions; in particular, no approximation to the equations is found in the immediate vicinity of the interaction. Base flows are also mentioned. (Author).
