Zunächst wurde Mobbing gesellschaftlich nicht besonders beachtet und als Kleinigkeit abgetan. Schließlich erfuhr das Phänomen wachsende Beachtung. Dann, mit dem Einzug des Internets in privaten Haushalten, entwickelte sich ein weiteres, recht neuartiges Phänomen: das Cybermobbing. Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Frage, inwiefern Cybermobbing in Bezug zu Suizidalität Jugendlicher steht bzw. diese beeinflusst. Vor allem der Entzug der Anerkennung, welcher mit (Cyber)Mobbing einhergeht, soll untersucht werden. Im anschließenden Kapitel werden dem Leser sowohl theoretische Grundlagen sozialer Anerkennung als auch Definitionen der Begrifflichkeiten Mobbing und Cybermobbing vorgestellt. Desweiteren werden Suizidalität und ihre Entwicklung beschrieben. Im dritte Kapitel werden Theorie und Thematik miteinander verknüpft: im Fokus steht die Untersuchung suizidalen Verhaltens, hervorgerufen durch Cybermobbing bei Jugendlichen. Ein aktueller Vorfall, welcher sich dem Cybermobbing zuordnen lässt, ereignete sich während der Recherche zu dieser Arbeit und wird in die Untersuchung mit einbezogen. Dieser wird mit einem länger zurückliegenden Fall verglichen. Danach werden Präventions- und Interventionsmaßnahmen beschrieben. Die Arbeit schließt mit einem Fazit – dieses fasst die wichtigsten Ergebnisse zusammen und bietet einen Ausblick darauf, wie in Zukunft auf Cybermobbing reagiert werden kann.
