Die gewonnenen Ergebnisse re'gten zu weiteren Forschungen nu, denn die Frage erhob sich sofort, wie weit die gewonnenen N ormen fiir das Aalwachstum Gultigkeit besitzen, namentlich fur Seen und fur Gewasser im Binnenland. Die Arbeit verfolgt aber auch weitere Ziele. Bereits von ehrenbaum wurde eine Untersuchung uber das zahlenmaige Verhaltnis der Geschlechter in der Unterelbe und anderen Gewassern eingeleitet, deren Veroffentlichung aufgeschoben wurde, um dergleichen Untersuchungen an einem groeren Material ausfuhren zu konnen und eine genugende Sicherheit der wichtigen Resultate zu gewinnen. Diese Arbeit ist nunmehr durchgefuhrt, und die interessanten Resultate werden in dieser Abhandlung zum Teil veroffentlicht. In Zusammenhang hiermit steht eine Untersuchung uber den Satzaal und das Verhaltnis der Geschlechter in den Satzaalfangen, das fur die Praxis von groer Bedeutung ist. Mit letzteren Fragen, zu deren Losung noch weiteres Material beschafft und verarbeitet wird, wird sich eine spatere Veroffentlichung eingehender zu befassen haben.
