Book excerpt: Imagine having the financial security to pursue your dreams. Imagine not having to live paycheck to paycheck. Imagine living a life with no limitations. What’s stopping you from turning this dream into a reality? The answer for many of us, is fear. The fear of the first step often paralyzes us from taking any at all. The fear of making a mistake is among our greatest. Mission35 shares the story of Brian Hogben, a mortgage broker in Hamilton, Ontario, whose path to success was not without its fair share of mistakes. It was through trial and many errors, Brian learned the lessons that only these mistakes could teach. He insists he would not be the successful business owner he is today without these experiences. Perhaps you’ve experienced your fair share as well – you’ve taken the first step in pursuit of your passion and been shut out or shot down. Brian encourages you to persevere through these challenges. He believes the right decisions today can lead to your financial security tomorrow, and he wants to show you how. Make this book the first step in your journey and the springboard to launch your own dreams – the world is waiting!

Jackson and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2018-12-24 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 17th and 18th centuries Spain and Portugal contested control of the disputed Rio de la Plata borderlands. The Jesuit missions among the Guarani played an important role in regional conflict through the provision of manpower for campaigns and supplies. However, regional conflict and particularly the mobilization of the mission militia and the movement of soldiers on campaign had demographic consequences for the populations of the missions such as the spread of contagion. This study documents regional conflict in the Rio de la Plata, the militarization of the Jesuit missions, and the demographic consequences of conflict for the mission populations.

For just as long, the nature and consequences of that association have provoked animated debate over such themes as "culture" and "identity." This volume brings together studies of changing attitudes and practices in Protestant missions during the hectic decades of European imperial and territorial expansion between 1880 and 1914. Written by acknowledged experts, "The Imperial Horizons of British Protestant Missions includes chapters on the imperial and ecclesiastical ambitions of the high-church Society for the Propagation of the Gospel; the role of empire as an arena for working out Christian understandings of atonement; the international politics of the missionary movement; conflicting understandings of race, missionary strategies, and the transfer of Western scientific knowledge; Indian nationalist responses to Christian teaching; and changing interpretations of Western missionary methods in China and of female missionary roles in South Africa. Book Synopsis Missions and Unity by : Norman E. Thomas
Download or read book Missions and Unity written by Norman E. Thomas and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2010-11-01 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study is the first comprehensive history of the impact of the modern missionary movement on the understanding of and work toward Christian unity. It tells stories from all branches of the church: Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant in its many types (conciliar, evangelical, Pentecostal, and independent). Part 1, "Historical," highlights the contribution of modern missions to Christian unity, from William Carey and his antecedents and peers to present-day missions. Part 2, "Ten Models of Unity," takes an inductive approach to history, asking not "how should Christians cooperate?" but "how has the missionary movement helped Christians to work together at the local, national, regional, and global level?" Part 3, "Wider Ecumenism," broadens the evidence to include how the missions movement has helped not only institutional churches but also broader society to have concern for the unity of the entire human family. Included here is the story of how the Protestant missionary movement influenced the forming of the United Nations as well as the drafting of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The study also covers the movement's impact on Christian attitudes toward, and relations with, persons of other faiths. Mission and Unity is the standard reference work in the field for persons studying modern history, modern church history, missions, and ecumenics.
