Book excerpt: Excerpt from Minutes of the Methodist Conferences in Ireland, 1865, Vol. 2 Samuel alcorn, who, after suffering much affliction, died in peace. John price. He enjoyed, with very little interruption, the full assurance of hope more than fifty years. He la boured acceptably and successfully in the Lord's vineyard forty-eight years, fifteen of which he was superannuated; but, he still continued to go about doing good. The day be fore he died, he walked five miles, with the pains of death upon him: called at Brother Anderson's of Enniskeen, very ill, and requested to lie down. When the people assembled to hear preaching, he desired that they might all come into the room; he then raised himself in his bed, prayed with great fervour for the Church of God, the Preachers, his own family, for all present; gave them his blessing, shook hands with every one of them, lay down, and spake little more till the next morning, Saturday, June 3rd, when he expired like a little child falling asleep, in the seventy-eighth year of his age. His remains were interred in the new churchyard of Louth, wherein no man had yet been laid. His funeral sermon was preached the next Sunday evening at Dun dalk, to a large and weeping auditory, who all felt the truth of that important Scripture, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord.
