C., October 22nd to 25th, 1931 By this time Dr. J. H. Nelson, President of Shaw Uni versity, hadarrived and was met by the committee and se corbed in. At the same time the college yell was given and the clapping of the hands in honor of the first Negro Presi dent of Shaw University. Dr. Moore then introduced Dr. Nelson who arose with a smile for his co-workers, and took up the past record of Shaw and said: Out of the great num ber of physicians that were in the state, 400 of them were graduates of Shaw, as well as many other professional men and women, and it's past record has stood untarnished. But, he said, I am asking for the cc-operation of all the Bap tists of North Carolina, as we want to do as well in the tu ture as we have done in the past. The writer was not able to record all of the Doctor's address. At his conclusion the Dr. Moore responded on part of the association. A motion prevailed to stand adjourned till o'clock.
