Book Synopsis Your Guardian Angel and You by : Denny Sargent
Download or read book Your Guardian Angel and You written by Denny Sargent and published by Weiser Books. This book was released on 2004-02-15 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever wondered why you don't feel entirely alone even when you are? Maybe it's because you really aren't. And if you attune yourself to that being of light that resides beside you, behind you, and in front of you, you will meet your constant companion, whose sole purpose is to guide you through life: your very own Guardian Angel. The time spent with your Guardian Angel here on earth can help you to reap great benefits during this lifetime. Denny Sargent writes, "In my academic and personal research, I came upon the concept of the Guardian Angel a number of times over the years. I was amazed to discover instructions on how to "meet" your Guardian Angel that were thousands of years old. This changed my entire life. I no longer had to look to others for spiritual authority or wisdom. Then I discovered that every culture had within it the concept of a Guardian Angel or Guardian Spirit, or Ally. The idea transcends time and culture; it is universal. I felt that this "secret" should not be left hidden and obscure but should be dusted off, simplified, and offered to all." Your Guardian Angel and You is a thoroughly intriguing read about the fascinating history of the Guardian Angel, why you need one, and how to prepare to meet yours. In fact, if a feeling of dread ever kept you from taking a turn down a certain road, getting in a car, or taking a certain flight, you may already have met your Guardian Angel. Once you establish, nurture, and expand your relationship with your Guardian Angel, you can expect terrific things in return. Ask specific questions and receive specific answers. Define and refine your dreams. Lean on the wisdom and insight of your Guardian Angel to give you a form of heaven on Earth right now where your dreams can be lived.

Book Synopsis The Magick of Aleister Crowley by : Lon Milo DuQuette
Download or read book The Magick of Aleister Crowley written by Lon Milo DuQuette and published by Weiser Books. This book was released on 2022-12-01 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 30th Anniversary of the Classic Guide to Thelema, Aleister Crowley’s Spiritual System of Ritual Magick, with a New Introduction by the Author. This is the perfect introductory text for readers who wonder what the works—rather than the myth—of Aleister Crowley are all about. DuQuette begins by dispatching some of the myths that have surrounded Crowley’s life and legend. He then explores the practice of rituals themselves, unpacking Crowley’s often opaque writing and offering his own commentary. Step by step, and in plain English, he presents a course of study with examples of rituals and explanations of their significance. DuQuette also includes a survey of many of Crowley’s original works with an extensive bibliography and endnotes. Formerly titled The Magick of Thelema, then released in a revised edition published in 2003, this Weiser Classics edition includes a new introduction by the author.
Download or read book The Miami Indians written by Bert Anson and published by University of Oklahoma Press. This book was released on 1970 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the small group of tribes comprising the Illinois division of the Algonquian linguistic family, the Miamis emerged as a pivotal tribe only during the French and British imperial wars, the Miami Confederacy wars of the eighteenth century, and the treaty-making period of the nineteenth century. The Miamis reached their peak of political importance in the Indian confederacies which blocked the Northwest Territory in the 1790's and during the War of 1812. Their title to much of the present state of Indiana enabled them to make advantageous treaties and delay emigration until the late 1840's. The tribe's 1846-47 emigrations produced two branches, the Indiana group and the Kansas-Oklahoma group, which have maintained political co-operation in spite of deep-seated cultural antipathies and dispossession. Their solidarity has been rewarded by success in their suits before the United States Court of Claims. This account spans the years from 1658 to the present, emphasizing the occasions on which the Miamis were a decisive influence on the course of American history.

Book Synopsis The Sporting World of the Modern South by : Patrick B. Miller
Download or read book The Sporting World of the Modern South written by Patrick B. Miller and published by University of Illinois Press. This book was released on 2002 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Engaging a medley of perspectives and methodologies, The Sporting World of the Modern South examines how sports map the social, political, and cultural landscapes of the modern South. In essays on the "backcountry" fighter stereotypes portrayed in modern professional wrestling and the significance of Crimson Tide coaching legend Paul "Bear" Bryant for white Alabamians, contributors explore the symbols that have shaped southern regional identities since the Civil War. Other essays tackle gender and race relations in intercollegiate athletics, uncover the roles athletic competitions played in desegregating the South, and address the popularity of NASCAR in the southern states. Pairing the action and anecdotes of good sports writing with rock-solid scholarship, The Sporting World of the Modern South adds historical and anthropological perspectives to legends and lore from the gridiron to the racetrack. This collection, with its innovative attention to the interplay between athletics and regional identity, is an insightful and compelling contribution to southern and sports history.
