Vor allem die Bedeutung von Mehrsprachigkeit, insbesondere migrationsbedingter Mehrsprachigkeit, nimmt mit aktueller Relevanz in unserer Gesellschaft zu, da sowohl aktuell als auch in Zukunft die sprachliche Heterogenität in Deutschland hauptsächlich durch Migration bedingt sein wird. Dabei hat sich der Schwerpunkt von der Betrachtung der individuellen Voraussetzungen der Schüler*innen mit Migrationserfahrung hin zur Fokussierung auf die Organisation von Schule verlagert. Deshalb liegen die Fragen nahe, wie sprachliche Diversität in schulischen Institutionen integriert werden kann, welche Strukturen und Bedingungen im Bildungssystem diesbezüglich be- und entstehen müssen und welche Chancen und Herausforderungen sich daraus ergeben. Im Zuge der Verfassung dieser Hausarbeit und der intensiven Recherche möchte ich vor allem theoriebasierte Erkenntnisse und Handlungsmöglichkeiten mitnehmen, die ich in meinem eigenen zukünftigen Dasein als Lehrkraft umsetzen kann, um mehrsprachige Schüler*innen bestmöglich in ihrer Individualität zu fördern und sie ebenso als Teil eines großen Ganzen zu integrieren. Erstrebenswert ist eine Pädagogik, die Heterogenität als Grundvoraussetzung berücksichtigt, ohne den Schüler*innen aufgrund ihrer sprachlichen Herkunft einen besonderen Status zuzuweisen und sie so zu stigmatisieren.

Insbesondere seit der Flüchtlingsdebatte hat die Thematik der Migration verstärkte Aufmerksamkeit erlangt und ist von größter Dringlichkeit, da es zunehmend Kinder mit geringen Deutschkenntnissen ins Schulsystem zu integrieren gilt. Dies führt im Verlauf dazu, dass die Schulen vermehrt mit migrationsbedingter Mehrsprachigkeit konfrontiert werden, was Auswirkungen auf die Konzepte der Schulentwicklung und den Unterricht selbst zeigt. Insgesamt gehört Mehrsprachigkeit nunmehr zur Realität des gesellschaftlichen Zusammenlebens sowie des Schulalltags. Daraus ergibt sich die Frage nach einem konstruktiven Umgang mit sprachlicher und kultureller Vielfalt. Es entstehen hierdurch Herausforderungen, die mit veränderten Ansprüchen an die Gestaltung des Unterrichts und die Kompetenzen der Lehrenden einhergehen. Ebenso beinhaltet Mehrsprachigkeit aber auch Chancen innerhalb des schulischen Kontextes, wenn sie als Ressource erkannt wird. Dass dies jedoch selten geschieht, wird schnell bewusst, wenn es heißt: „Deutsch ist die Sprache, in der sich in Deutschland Bildung vollzieht, auf ihrer Beherrschung baut der Schulerfolg auf“. Vor diesem Hintergrund, der letztendlich auch die Realität der mehrsprachig geprägten Einwanderungsgesellschaft ausklammert, würde sprachliche Diversität zum Nachteil werden und Bildungschancen versperren.

Linguistic diversity is a universal characteristic of human language but linguistic diversity is rarely neutral; rather it is accompanied by linguistic stratification and linguistic subordination. Domains critical to social justice include employment, education, and community participation. The book offers a detailed examination of the connection between linguistic diversity and inequality in these specific contexts within nation states that are organized as liberal democracies.
