Um ein Verständnis für die gesamte Thematik zu bekommen, wird zu Beginn der Begriff "Migration" definiert sowie verschiedene Ansätze dieser dargestellt. Unterschiedliche Formen der Migration werden erläutert, sowie der Begriff Migrationshintergrund. Diese Definitionen sollen als Grundlage dieser Arbeit dienen. Darüber hinaus wird der Verlauf der Integration in Deutschland vom Anfang an bis zum aktuellen Stand skizziert. Das erste Kapitel endet mit aktuellen Migrationszahlen in Deutschland. Das darauffolgende Kapitel befasst sich mit der "Integration", die zuerst definiert wird. Darauf folgen verschiedene Formen der Integration, die Systemintegration und die Sozialintegration. In Kapitel 3.3 wird der Begriff "Kultur" erklärt, um daraufhin in Kapitel 3.4 "Kulturelle Identität" zu erläutern. Im nächsten Kapitel wird dargestellt, inwieweit Integration eine politische Aufgabe ist, und die einzelnen Verantwortungsbereiche von Staat, Land und Kommune beschrieben. Anschließend werden diverse Voraussetzungen einer erfolgreichen Integration beleuchtet. Nach dem Willen zur Integration folgt die Sprache als Grundstein. Danach werden politische Voraussetzungen, wie das Integrationsgesetz, wichtige Handlungsfelder der Kommunen, Partizipation und die Chancengleichheit thematisiert. Das Unterkapitel 5.6 "Bildung" wird unterteilt in Kindergarten, Schule, Ausbildung und Studium, sowie Beruf und Arbeit. In Kapitel 5.7 wird der Beitrag der Familien und des sozialen Umfelds dargestellt, wozu auch Vereine zählen. Im Anschluss daran folgt eine eigene Forschung, in der über eine Online-Befragung ein Stimmungsbild zum Thema Integration herausgearbeitet wurde. Zum Ende wird die gesamte Thematik in einem abschließenden Fazit zusammengeführt und in eine persönliche Stellungnahme münden.
