This book was released on 2019-09-13 with total page 739 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The prime goal of this monograph, which comprises a total of five volumes, is to derive sharp spectral asymptotics for broad classes of partial differential operators using techniques from semiclassical microlocal analysis, in particular, propagation of singularities, and to subsequently use the variational estimates in “small” domains to consider domains with singularities of different kinds. In turn, the general theory (results and methods developed) is applied to the Magnetic Schrödinger operator, miscellaneous problems, and multiparticle quantum theory. In this volume the methods developed in Volumes I, II, III and IV are applied to multiparticle quantum theory (asymptotics of the ground state energy and related problems), and to miscellaneous spectral problems.

Book Synopsis Microlocal Analysis and Precise Spectral Asymptotics by : Victor Ivrii
Download or read book Microlocal Analysis and Precise Spectral Asymptotics written by Victor Ivrii and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1998-05-20 with total page 756 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This long awaited book is devoted to the methods of microlocal semiclassical analysis in application to spectral asymptotics with accurate remainder estimates. The very powerful machinery of local and microlocal semiclassical spectral asymptotics is developed as well as methods in combining these asymptotics with spectral estimates. The rescaling technique should be mentioned as an easy as to use and very powerful tool. Many theorems, considered before as independent and difficult, now are just special cases of easy corollaries of the theorems proved in the book. Most of the results and almost all the proofs are as yet unpublished

In turn, the general theory (results and methods developed) is applied to the Magnetic Schrödinger operator, miscellaneous problems, and multiparticle quantum theory. In this volume the local spectral asymptotics of Volume I in the regular part of the domain are combined with variational estimates in the vicinity of singularities, and global asymptotics are derived in the general form. They are then applied to multiple cases and asymptotics with respect to a spectral parameter. Finally, cases in which only general methods but not the results can be applied (non-standard asymptotics) are studied.

Book Synopsis Schrödinger Operators: Eigenvalues and Lieb–Thirring Inequalities by : Rupert L. Frank
Download or read book Schrödinger Operators: Eigenvalues and Lieb–Thirring Inequalities written by Rupert L. Frank and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2022-11-17 with total page 524 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The analysis of eigenvalues of Laplace and Schrödinger operators is an important and classical topic in mathematical physics with many applications. This book presents a thorough introduction to the area, suitable for masters and graduate students, and includes an ample amount of background material on the spectral theory of linear operators in Hilbert spaces and on Sobolev space theory. Of particular interest is a family of inequalities by Lieb and Thirring on eigenvalues of Schrödinger operators, which they used in their proof of stability of matter. The final part of this book is devoted to the active research on sharp constants in these inequalities and contains state-of-the-art results, serving as a reference for experts and as a starting point for further research.
Book Synopsis Microlocal Analysis and Spectral Theory by : Luigi Rodino
Download or read book Microlocal Analysis and Spectral Theory written by Luigi Rodino and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 449 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The NATO Advanced Study Institute "Microlocal Analysis and Spectral The ory" was held in Tuscany (Italy) at Castelvecchio Pascoli, in the district of Lucca, hosted by the international vacation center "11 Ciocco" , from September 23 to October 3, 1996. The Institute recorded the considerable progress realized recently in the field of Microlocal Analysis. In a broad sense, Microlocal Analysis is the modern version of the classical Fourier technique in solving partial differential equa tions, where now the localization proceeding takes place with respect to the dual variables too. Precisely, through the tools of pseudo-differential operators, wave-front sets and Fourier integral operators, the general theory of the lin ear partial differential equations is now reaching a mature form, in the frame of Schwartz distributions or other generalized functions. At the same time, Microlocal Analysis has grown up into a definite and independent part of Math ematical Analysis, with other applications all around Mathematics and Physics, one major theme being Spectral Theory for Schrodinger equation in Quantum Mechanics.
Book Synopsis Mathematical Theory of Scattering Resonances by : Semyon Dyatlov
Download or read book Mathematical Theory of Scattering Resonances written by Semyon Dyatlov and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2019-09-10 with total page 634 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scattering resonances generalize bound states/eigenvalues for systems in which energy can scatter to infinity. A typical resonance has a rate of oscillation (just as a bound state does) and a rate of decay. Although the notion is intrinsically dynamical, an elegant mathematical formulation comes from considering meromorphic continuations of Green's functions. The poles of these meromorphic continuations capture physical information by identifying the rate of oscillation with the real part of a pole and the rate of decay with its imaginary part. An example from mathematics is given by the zeros of the Riemann zeta function: they are, essentially, the resonances of the Laplacian on the modular surface. The Riemann hypothesis then states that the decay rates for the modular surface are all either or . An example from physics is given by quasi-normal modes of black holes which appear in long-time asymptotics of gravitational waves. This book concentrates mostly on the simplest case of scattering by compactly supported potentials but provides pointers to modern literature where more general cases are studied. It also presents a recent approach to the study of resonances on asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds. The last two chapters are devoted to semiclassical methods in the study of resonances.
Download or read book Spectral Methods written by Jie Shen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-08-25 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Along with finite differences and finite elements, spectral methods are one of the three main methodologies for solving partial differential equations on computers. This book provides a detailed presentation of basic spectral algorithms, as well as a systematical presentation of basic convergence theory and error analysis for spectral methods. Readers of this book will be exposed to a unified framework for designing and analyzing spectral algorithms for a variety of problems, including in particular high-order differential equations and problems in unbounded domains. The book contains a large number of figures which are designed to illustrate various concepts stressed in the book. A set of basic matlab codes has been made available online to help the readers to develop their own spectral codes for their specific applications.
