This book was released on 2014-06-14 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Author has trailed emergence of women police, reflected Education, Competence and Performance with transgenerational roots of wisdom from Constable to IGP, psycho-socio-culture mentors to find freedom, justice and unity. This has made her a trailblazer to become an unequivocal representative to reflect the conduct of police: not maintaining Justice Principle; of Unity, not a catchword within its ranks; and of freedom, not the muse of Cohesive Ethics Theorem. This book embeds two modes of existence: the male operational mode, which concentrates on material reliance, power and chauvinism and is the basis of such evils as greed for money and domination; and the female operational mode which is based in affection, in the pleasure of sharing distress of the female, and constructive activity, where she concludes that female talent is still untapped. Hence, this book reflects distinct psychological sketch of the Women Police and pushes readers to muse on it and opens bold horizons of intellectual endeavors.

Book excerpt: A major obstacle to Pakistan's transformation into a dynamic, middle-income economy is underinvestment in its people, particularly women. The role of women in Pakistan is complex: in many social contexts, women are accorded esteem and importance; but on most counts, the status of women is among the lowest in the world, including the rest of South Asia. This report documents women's status and shows that the gap between Pakistan and other developing countries has increased over time. It examines the interactions between human resource development, women's welfare and productivity, and economic development. The report suggests ways to increase the participation of women as providers and beneficiaries in education, family planning and health services. It recommends several approaches to improve women's access to extension, credit, new technology, inputs, markets and formal sector employment. It also recommends removing the overt legal and regulatory discrimination against them that now reinforces a limited view of their potential. It notes that women's organizations can serve as useful channels for service delivery and sources of group support. Finally, it emphasizes that political leadership and the mass media can play a vital role in improving women's opportunities and hence their contribution to development.
Download or read book Pakistani Women written by Sadaf Ahmad and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2010 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pakistani Women attempts to capture some of the diversity to help move away from the homogenous images of Pakistani women that prevail in their representation in much of the world. The different chapters cover an entire range of localities, from rural to urban settings, and from small town to diaspora. Most of the chapters are driven by ethnographic data, while some are more theoretical. Yet, despite this diversity of place and approach, a number of cross-cutting themes emerge; themes that play a critical role in encouraging the reader to recognize the similarity and diversity of Pakistani women's experiences within a culture made up of a variety of ideologies that are often in conflict with each other.

Book excerpt: Problems of governance in Pakistan are rooted in a persistently unclear and antagonistic relationship among the forces of authority, ideology and ethnicity. Based on theoretical and empirical research this book focuses on significant themes such as the oligarchic state structure dominated by the military and bureaucracy, civil society, Islam and the formation of Muslim identity in British India, constitutional traditions and their subversion by coercive policies, politics of gender, ethnicity, and Muslim nationalism versus regional nationalisms as espoused by Sindhi nationalists and the Karachi-based Muhajir Qaumi Movement (MQM).

Book Synopsis How I Met My Son by : Rosalind Powell
Download or read book How I Met My Son written by Rosalind Powell and published by Bonnier Publishing Ltd.. This book was released on 2016-02-11 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Honest, funny and, crucially, helpful to anyone who has ever had difficulty conceiving or considered adoption, this is required reading.' Emma Thompson When journalist Rosalind Powell and her husband wanted to start a family, they had no idea of the journey that lay ahead. Encountering fertility issues and gruelling IVF treatment to no avail, but still determined to be parents, they set off on the adoption route. After many false starts and dashed hopes they eventually, and luckily, found their son. How I Met My Son is more than a memoir, it is an invaluable guide to the reality of adoption in the UK. Both joyful and heartbreaking, the path to becoming a parent is laid bare. The story explores the sadness of infertility, the rigours of IVF, the minefield of social services, the intensity of the assessment process, the difficulties of choosing a child (and being chosen) and the happiness and shock of finally bringing that child home. A candid, compelling and inspirational book about what it means to be a parent of a child that isn't, biologically, your own. 'Whether you have no children, have been through IVF, fostered, adopted or borne biological children, this stunning warts-and-all account of the yearning to parent is a must-read. Powell's experiences, told with such particular and often heart-rending hilarity, speak to the universal questions we all ask of our parents, partners, friends and ultimately of ourselves.' Cate Blanchett
