Soil organisms and those inhabiting freshwater and marine sediments, from microbes (bacteria, algae, fungi, etc.) to macrofauna (earthworms, nematodes, molluscs, etc.) are all treated. The chapters are arranged by organismal groups and have been written by recognized specialists from the USA and Europe.
