Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How to naturally get rid of stretch mark, methodology and other means of getting rid of stretch mark from your body. Stretch marks are scars that affect both men as well as women and this is so mainly due to the fact that it is caused by the overstretching of the skin at a fast rate over a relatively short period of time. This can happen during pregnancy, puberty, as well as in people who are into body building and to people who are genetically pre-disposed to getting stretch marks. Many pregnant women have had to deal with stretch marks as their womb grows and stretches in order to accommodate their growing babies. However, there are actually stretch mark treatments, lotions and creams on the market that can help these expectant mothers to either prevent stretch marks or remove them from their skin permanently No one likes getting stretch marks. They are unsightly and they never really go away. Ironically though, everyone can get them. People of all ages, races and genders can get stretch marks although they are more common among women and particularly common among pregnant women, with 9 out of 10 women getting them. So what are they, what causes them and how can we avoid them? Any discussion about stretch marks will have to begin with an explanation of exactly what they are. There are varying explanations of how and why stretch marks are formed. 1.Stretch marks or Straie, are caused when the middle layer of the skin or the dermis is torn allowing the inner layers to show through. This happens when the skin's elasticity breaks down. The stretching causes the connective tissue to break down leading to inflammation. There is microscopic bleeding that shows up as red or purple and later scarring. It is the scars that cause the marks. When the under layer stretches the epidermis also stretches and allows the layer underneath to be visible. They take the form of long, narrow streaks or lines that develop on the surface of the skin. Stretch marks usually occur when the skin goes through rapid stretching such as in the case of pregnancy or when there is rapid growth or what is called a growth spurt such as what is experienced by some children and teenagers

However, plastic surgeons are also becoming more willing to explore them, and minimally invasive cosmetic and aesthetic procedures are now an established interdisciplinary topic. Minimally Invasive Aesthetic Procedures - A Guide for Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons addresses the needs of both these specialties. It provides a comprehensive overview of the most relevant and widely used minimally invasive procedures, presented in a practical and straightforward style. Rather than a broad overview of the literature, it offers a step-by-step guide to clinical procedures. Each chapter explores a single clinical procedure, discussing the theoretical basis; the materials needed; the methods and techniques; clinical follow-up; before-and-after illustrations; as well as the side effects and complications and their management. It also includes a summary of tips and relevant references. With more than a hundred procedures presented and discussed in a clinically applicable format, Minimally Invasive Aesthetic Procedures - A Guide for Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons is a practical manual for all dermatology and plastic surgery practitioners who are interested in aesthetic medicine.

Book excerpt: Beginning with infertility and one couple’s struggle with building their family, Stretch-mark My Heart dives headlong into the fragmented world of the US foster care system. Following the adoption journey of Matt and Niki Tschirgi (pronounced Sure-Gee), this book lays the groundwork from start to finish regarding what it takes to have a child permanently placed in your home for adoption. Through fostering, private adoption, open adoption, and foster-to-adopt, Niki recounts the lonely and grievous road of infertility, her and her husband’s decision-making process to choose adoption, the hard work and perseverance to get licensed to be foster parents, and the finalization of six adoptions. Discover how the Tschirgis became a blended family over the course of six years and doubled their family size while moving from Washington to Texas. Stretch-mark My Heart will immerse you in the complicated process of accepting and loving into your home children who were born out of trauma, abuse, and neglect. See how each child was uniquely meant to be a part of this family. Travel along this bumpy yet inspiring road and explore many facets of adoption, including sibling-group, multiracial, infant, and older-child adoption. Although heartbreak, trials, and the unknown are present throughout this book, triumph, miracles, unconditional love, and belonging overshadow the pain and loss of infertility, as well as the brokenness inherent in being a child in foster care. Stretch-mark My Heart will help you understand the intricate and detailed plan that God had for a family to be built together by the power of choice… the choice of adoption.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most Western non-Muslim women couldn't envision surrendering their freedom and being forced to comply with Saudi women's entrapped customs which have existed for the past 1,400 years. Did you know that Saudi Arabia's religious police, known as the Mutawa, can take any woman to jail for not covering her hair or wearing an abaya? How would you imagine yourself living a life being compelled to abide by the power and values of men: not being able to drive, talk with your driver, shop alone without a male escort, leave the country without a male escort, or be seen alone with a non-related male? INFIDEL BEHIND THE PARADOXICAL VEIL - A Western Woman's Experience in Saudi Arabia is a personal story of startling encounters such as mentioned above while Jeanette English lived in Riyadh, the most restrictive city in Saudi Arabia, where women who by Shariah law and culture are considered to be the weaker sex. Jeanette candidly unmasks a unique experience which exposes the enigmatic issues affecting Saudi women. Their struggle for equality and freedom of choice is a hot topic with an accelerating interest in the subject of male dominance over them, stirring an intrinsic controversy over which many Westerners are confused. This is a timely book offering extraordinary insight into the real Saudi woman before, during and after the author's year in Riyadh which will turn a few cynical heads toward understanding the issues and challenges in their achieving fair treatment, particularly now in the 21st century. Forced to wear the hijab, Jeanette read the Quran and, in learning about Islam and talking with Saudi women, was able to look behind the veil which many Westerners can only read about. Most authors and journalists who write on this subject have not lived her experience.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mental illness profoundly impacts family and loved ones. These seven true stories told by nine parents were selected from interviews conducted by sisters, Mary and Elin Widdifield, and interwoven with one sisters own experiences. Told with remarkable candor, these stories offer more insight than any single story or academic analysis. Behind the Wall provides a shared voice for millions of people who advocate for a child or loved one who lives with mental illness, fosters a better understanding for society at-large, and delivers a compelling and ultimately hopeful read for anyone fascinated by the human condition. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, nearly twenty million Americans ages eighteen and older suffer from a serious mental illness. Sixty million - about one in four adults - suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year. Factor in the family members profoundly affected by a loved one's disorder and mental illness touches virtually all of us. Yet it remains a subject that is often misunderstood, rarely talked about, and frequently stigmatizing. When mental illness enters the national discussion, it typically comes in the wake of a violent tragedy, attracting temporary attention and further misunderstanding. Behind the Wall posits that while mental health professionals and policy makers provide invaluable perspectives, the true story of mental Illness can be told most accurately by the people in the trenches: the parents who watched it all unfold with their child in harrowing and heartfelt detail. For all the 10 years of her life, H&à has only known Saigon: the thrills of its markets, the joy of its traditions, the warmth of her friends close by, and the beauty of her very own papaya tree. But now the Vietnam War has reached her home. H&à and her family are forced to flee as Saigon falls, and they board a ship headed toward hope. In America, H&à discovers the foreign world of Alabama: the coldness of its strangers, the dullness of its food, the strange shape of its landscape, and the strength of her very own family.
