Book Synopsis Global Mobile Satellite Communications Theory by : Stojče Dimov Ilčev
Download or read book Global Mobile Satellite Communications Theory written by Stojče Dimov Ilčev and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-09-23 with total page 642 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses current theory regarding global mobile satellite communications (GMSC) for maritime, land (road and rail), and aeronautical applications. It covers how these can enable connections between moving objects such as ships, road and rail vehicles and aircrafts on one hand, and on the other ground telecommunications subscribers through the medium of communications satellites, ground earth stations, Terrestrial Telecommunication Networks (TTN), Internet Service Providers (ISP) and other wireless and landline telecommunications providers. This new edition covers new developments and initiatives that have resulted in land and aeronautical applications and the introduction of new satellite constellations in non-geostationary orbits and projects of new hybrid satellite constellations. The book presents current GMSC trends, mobile system concepts and network architecture using a simple mode of style with understandable technical information, characteristics, graphics, illustrations and mathematics equations. The first edition of Global Mobile Satellite Communications (Springer, 2005) was split into two books for the second edition—one on applications and one on theory. This book presents global mobile satellite communications theory.

Book Synopsis Cajun Literature and Cajun Collective Memory by : Mathilde Köstler
Download or read book Cajun Literature and Cajun Collective Memory written by Mathilde Köstler and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2022-12-19 with total page 546 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How does Cajun literature, emerging in the 1980s, represent the dynamic processes of remembering in Cajun culture? Known for its hybrid constitution and deeply ingrained oral traditions, Cajun culture provides an ideal testing ground for investigating the collective memory of a group. In particular, francophone and anglophone Cajun texts by such writers as Jean Arceneaux, Tim Gautreaux, Jeanne Castille, Zachary Richard, Ron Thibodeaux, Darrell Bourque, and Kirby Jambon reveal not only a shift from an oral to a written tradition. They also show hybrid perspectives on the Cajun collective memory. Based on recurring references to place, the texts also reflect on the (Acadian) past and reveal the innate ability of the Cajuns to adapt through repeated intertextual references. The Cajun collective memory is thus defined by a transnational outlook, a transversality cutting across various ethnic heritages to establish and legitimize a collective identity both amid the linguistic and cultural diversity in Louisiana, and in the face of American mainstream culture. Cajun Literature and Cajun Collective Memory represents the first analysis of the mnemonic strategies Cajun writers use to explore and sustain the Cajun identity and collective memory.

Book Synopsis Optical and Wireless Communications by : Matthew N.O. Sadiku
Download or read book Optical and Wireless Communications written by Matthew N.O. Sadiku and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2002-01-18 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Optical and wireless technologies are being introduced into the global communications infrastructure at an astonishing pace. Both are revolutionizing the industry and will undoubtedly dominate its future, yet in the crowded curricula in most electrical engineering programs, there is no room in typical data communications courses for proper coverage of these "next generation" technologies. Optical and Wireless Communications: Next Generation Networks covers both types of networks in a unique presentation designed for a one-semester course for senior undergraduate or graduate engineering students. Part I: Optical Networks covers optical fibers, transmitters, receivers, multiplexers, amplifiers, and specific networks, including FDDI, SONET, fiber channel, and wavelength-routed networks. Part II:Wireless Networks examines fundamental concepts and specific wireless networks, such as LAN, ATM, wireless local loop, and wireless PBXs. This section also explores cellular technologies and satellite communications. Eventually, next generation networks will be as ubiquitous as traditional telephone networks, and today's engineering students must be prepared to meet the challenges of optical and wireless systems development and deployment. Filled with illustrations, examples, and end-of-chapter problems, Optical and Wireless Communications: Next Generation Networks provides a brief but comprehensive introduction to these technologies that will help future engineers build the foundation they need for success.
