Download or read book Digital Design and Manufacturing: CAD/CAM Applications in Architecture and Design written by Daniel Schodek and published by Wiley. This book was released on 2004-12-06 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A reliable, concise guide to computer-aided design and manufacturing Positioned to be the leading book of its kind in the field, Digital Design and Manufacturing explains the ins and outs of CAD/CAM technologies and how these tools can be used to model and manufacture building components and industrial design products. It offers a comprehensive overview of the field and expertly addresses a broad range of recent initiatives and other issues related to the design of parts and assemblies for automated manufacturing and assembly. Digital Design and Manufacturing presents the latest technical coverage of how to implement CAD/CAM technologies into the design process, including the broad range of software, computer numerical control (CNC) machines, manufacturing processes, and prototyping necessary. Insightful case studies are integrated throughout from the works of Frank Gehry, Bernard Franken, Raphael Vinoly, and many other leading architects. Product design case studies are also presented. Students and professional architects will find techniques for going from representation to production, while avoiding the pitfalls of traditional manufacturing and allowing for the design and production of complex, free-form components that have been too expensive to use practically-until now. Book Synopsis The Greens of May Down to the Sea by : Luis Goytisolo
Download or read book The Greens of May Down to the Sea written by Luis Goytisolo and published by Spanish Literature. This book was released on 2019-01-30 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second volume of Goytisolo's acclaimed Antagonia tetralogy, The Greens of May Down to the Sea follows Raúl Ferrer Gaminde and his wife as they move from Barcelona to Rosas to begin a new life. Where the first volume of Antagonia occupied itself with the themes of war and political revolution, the second volume closely follows Raúl's development as a writer, his anxieties about the purposes of writing, and his willingness to sacrifice the other aspects of adult life to his creative impulses. Told in short, often dizzyingly complex fragments of thought and memory, the reader is invited into Raul's inner world, into his many fantasies, worries, and resentments, revealing over time his transformation from political radical to inner-directed artist.

Book Synopsis When the Past Is Always Present by : Ronald A. Ruden
Download or read book When the Past Is Always Present written by Ronald A. Ruden and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2011-01-19 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When the Past Is Always Present: Emotional Traumatization, Causes, and Cures introduces several new ideas about trauma and trauma treatment. The first of these is that another way to treat disorders arising from the mind/brain may be to use the senses. This idea, which is at the core of psychosensory therapy, forms what the author considers the "third pillar" of trauma treatment (the first and second pillars being psychotherapy and psychopharmacology). Psychosensory therapy postulates that sensory input—for example, touch—creates extrasensory activity that alters brain function and the way we respond to stimuli. The second idea presented in this book is that traumatization is encoded in the amygdala only under special circumstances. Thus, by understanding what makes an individual resistant to traumatization we can offer a way of preventing it. The third idea is that traumatization occurs because we cannot find a haven during the event. This is the cornerstone of havening, the particular form of psychosensory therapy described in the book. Using evolutionary biological principles and recently published neuroscientific studies, this book outlines in detail how havening touch de-links the emotional experience from a trauma, essentially making it just an ordinary memory. Once done, the event no longer causes distress.
Book Synopsis Landscapes After the Battle by : Juan Goytisolo
Download or read book Landscapes After the Battle written by Juan Goytisolo and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Trapped in his apartment in an immigrant district of Paris, the narrator is far from the high life of museums, elegant restaurants and boutiques. Within this imprisonment, his thoughts oscillate between revolutionary terrorism and pre-pubescent sexuality - a concern he shares with Lewis Carroll. Mirroring the conventions of Arabic texts, Landscapes After the Battle is to be understood from the perspective of its end; an end where the relationship between writer, the reader and the written is revealed as playful and humorous. The appearance of the comic in a novel by Juan Goytisolo is unexpected; like Dracula at a haemophiliacs? convention.
Download or read book Antagony written by Luis Goytisolo and published by Deep Vellum Publishing. This book was released on 2022-08-02 with total page 1579 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This potent drama, a collected volume of Goytisolo's famed tetralogy following a Catalan family, is widely regarded as one of the most profound inquiries ever undertaken on literary creation. Antagony surveys the social history of Barcelona and Catalonia, primarily since the end of the Spanish Civil War in 1939. The work, originally published as a tetralogy and now collected into one volume, follows the youth and education of Raúl Ferrer Gaminde, son of a well-connected, middle-class Catalan family that embraces Franco and Spanish Nationalism. Its potent drama plays out through Goytisolo’s crisp, forceful presentation of youth, humor, optimism, rebellion, violence, sexual awakening, indulgence, punishment, and the realization of one’s artistic vocation. Alternately modern and historical, Antagony displays intelligent realism, emotional gravity, profane beauty, brute vulgarity, sweeping rhetorical scope, and seamless transitions through long, streaming passages of narrative and introspection.

Download or read book La hora de Dios written by Jean-Paul II ((pape ;) and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Afecto y efecto.
