Download or read book Talks by Harry written by Larry Karrasch and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2023-02-23 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Eruch Jessawalla, one of Baba’s intimate mandali, would tell Harry stories about Baba in the early days and they would discuss various spiritual topics that Harry would record on his tape recorder. During Harry’s lifetime he would use the material from these conversations to give his public talks on Meher Baba. Meher Baba encouraged Harry to begin speaking about Him to the Baba group in New York City, called the Monday Night Group and later at the Society for Avatar Meher Baba’s office on Saturday nights. Then in 1967, Baba gave Harry an order to give two public programs to celebrate Baba’s birthday and silence day each year. At these events Harry would give a talk. Eruch actually requested Harry in 1970, in Meherazad, to publish his experiences, because Eruch felt Harry had a deep understanding of Baba’s life and work because of his intimacy with the God-Man, both as His doctor and mandali. Meher Baba on different occasions called Harry Kenmore one of His most intimate mandali, His apostle, His dear son and a chip off the Ole Block. The themes and concepts in each talk were all developed through Harry’s understanding and elaboration that reflected the conversations he had with Baba and the mandali, his intense study of Baba’s principles and precepts in the books he read, spiritual themes discussed by Baba and stories told in mandali hall.

Download or read book The Afterlife of Sai Baba written by Karline McLain and published by University of Washington Press. This book was released on 2016-08-25 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nearly a century after his death, the image of Sai Baba, the serene old man with the white beard from Shirdi village in Maharashtra, India, is instantly recognizable to most South Asians (and many Westerners) as a guru for all faiths—Hindus, Muslims, and others. During his lifetime Sai Baba accepted all followers who came to him, regardless of religious or caste background, and preached a path of spiritual enlightenment and mutual tolerance. These days, tens of thousands of Indians and foreigners make the pilgrimage to Shirdi each year, and Sai Baba temples have sprung up in unlikely places around the world, such as Munich, Seattle, and Austin. Tracing his rise from small village guru to global phenomenon, religious studies scholar Karline McLain uses a wide range of sources to investigate the different ways that Sai Baba has been understood in South Asia and beyond and the reasons behind his skyrocketing popularity among Hindus in particular. Shining a spotlight on an incredibly forceful devotional movement that avoids fundamental politics and emphasizes unity, service, and peace, The Afterlife of Sai Baba is an entertaining—and enlightening—look at one of South Asia’s most popular spiritual gurus.

Download or read book The Sound of Bells written by Norah Moore and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2013-07-30 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings together the teachings of Meher Baba and the teachings of Carl Gustav Jung for the first time. Many people would wish to bring together their inner experience of spirituality and psychological development. Meher Baba did not come to bring a new religion but a philosophy that brought all religions together. In this first book The Sound of Bells, and Eastern Mysticism I looked at C.G.Jung's Analytical Psychology in the light of Meher Baba's book God Speaks. In the second book of the trilogy Glowing Embers for the New Humanity, God can only be Lived, I brought a more detailed account of how this might be accomplished. In the final book of the trilogy I turned to a more personal account of how I followed this path myself and summed up how the path has been followed throughout all the avataric ages .
