Vechta (Katholische Theologie), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Mediation ist eine Methode zur konstruktiven Konfliktbearbeitung. Kurz zusammengefasst würde ich Mediation wie folgt beschreiben: Ein ausgebildeter so genannter Mediator versucht zwischen mindestens zwei Konfliktparteien zu vermitteln, damit ein bestehender Konflikt ohne Gewalt gelöst werden kann. Der Mediator hat dabei nicht die Aufgabe eines Richters, sondern ist tatsächlich nur in vermittelndem Maße tätig. Alle am Konflikt beteiligten Streitparteien haben zudem ein Interesse daran, dass dieser mit friedlichen Mitteln gelöst wird. Auf Mediation aufmerksam geworden, bin ich durch meine jüngere Schwester. Sie hatte sich vor einigen Jahren an ihrer Schule zur so genannten Streitschlichterin ausbilden lassen und führte dort in regelmäßigen Abständen erfolgreiche Mediationsgespräche zwischen Mitschülern. Größeres Interesse und fundiertes Wissen zum Thema Mediation habe ich allerdings erst im Studium der Katholischen Theologie an der Hochschule Vechta erfahren. Dort finden seit 2003 jährlich regionale Fachtagungen zum Thema „Konstruktive Konfliktbearbeitung und Mediation“ statt. Diese Tagungen sind neben diverser Fachliteratur Grundlage des vorliegenden Werkes. Zunächst wird jedoch in die Thematik der Mediation näher eingeführt. Allgemeine Wesensmerkmale dieser Konfliktbearbeitungsmethode sollen hierzu dargelegt werden. Da das Buch den Untertitel „Herausforderung für Schule und Unterricht“ trägt, soll anschließend näher auf die Konfliktbereiche Schule und Unterricht eingegangen werden. Darauf folgt ein ausführliches Kapitel zum Thema „Schulmediation“. Dass Mediation gar nicht einmal so wenig mit Theologie zu tun hat, ist auf den ersten Blick nicht gleich zu erkennen. Dies soll daher in einem Kapitel widerlegt werden, dass da heißt „Gewaltverzicht in der Schule auf theologischer Basis“. Diverse praktische Erfahrungsberichte und von mir durchgeführte Interviews zum Thema Schulmediation schließen das vorliegende Werk ab.

The question arises whether demographic change will constrain the capacity of aging states like Germany to conduct foreign policy and pursue their national security interests. Since contemporary military operations still display a strong human element, particular scrutiny is given to the empirical analysis of the determinants of military propensity and military service among youth. An additional human capital projection until 2030 illustrates how the decline in the youth population will interact with trends in educational attainment and adolescent health to further complicate military recruitment in the future. A concluding review of recruiting practices in other NATO countries provides insight in best-practice policy options to reduce the military’s sensitivity to demographic change. Following this approach, the book gives prominence to a topic that has thus far been under-represented in the greater discussion of demographic change today, namely the demographic impact on international affairs and strategic calculations.

Yet, the traditionally disparate fields of educational leadership, curriculum theory and Didaktik have developed separately, both in terms of approaches to theory and theorizing in USA, Europe and Asia, and in the ways in which these theoretical traditions have informed empirical studies over time. An additional aspect is that modern education theory was developed in relation to nation state education, which, in the meantime, has become more complicated due to issues of 'globopolitanism'. This volume examines the current state of affairs and addresses the issues involved. In doing so, it opens up a space for a renewed and thoughtful dialogue to rethink and re-theorize these traditions with non-affirmative education theory moving beyond social reproduction and social transformation perspectives.
