This book was released on 2020 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this program evaluation is to evaluate the church-developed marriage small group intervention, re|engage, for its effects on the use of spiritual disciplines of the Christian faith to improve marital satisfaction of program participants. Utilizing quantitative archival data from the sole empirical study, Engaging with re|engage : A Study of Watermark Community Church’s 16-Session Marriage Intervention Program – re|engage (Boyd & Charlemagne, 2016), pre-test / post-test responses were evaluated to assess the effects of the re|engage marriage program on the use of Christian spiritual disciplines, including faith in God, prayer, and forgiveness, to improve the marital satisfaction of program participants. It was hypothesized that a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest implementation of spiritual disciplines would be present. Results indicate that change attributable to the re|engage program, specifically regarding forgiveness, faith as expressed through dependence upon God, and prayer, finds that 52% of participants reported improvement in the area of forgiving a spouse, 39.3% of participants reported increased faith or dependence on God, and 40.3% of participants reported that praying with a spouse increased.

This book was released on 2019-10-25 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. military has been continuously engaged in foreign conflicts for over two decades. The strains that these deployments, the associated increases in operational tempo, and the general challenges of military life affect not only service members but also the people who depend on them and who support them as they support the nation â€" their families. Family members provide support to service members while they serve or when they have difficulties; family problems can interfere with the ability of service members to deploy or remain in theater; and family members are central influences on whether members continue to serve. In addition, rising family diversity and complexity will likely increase the difficulty of creating military policies, programs and practices that adequately support families in the performance of military duties. Strengthening the Military Family Readiness System for a Changing American Society examines the challenges and opportunities facing military families and what is known about effective strategies for supporting and protecting military children and families, as well as lessons to be learned from these experiences. This report offers recommendations regarding what is needed to strengthen the support system for military families.

Book excerpt: Marriage as an institution in contemporary culture is in a state of distress, with a risk of divorce rate reaching into the 60% range for couples planning to marry in the near future. Research in the field of marriage and family therapy has attempted to explain this phenomenon, particularly through the study of couple interaction. Validated instruments are available to assess the level of satisfaction and adjustment in a marital relationship. A significant challenge for the marriage clinician is effecting positive change on the level of satisfaction perceived and experienced in the relationship. Other research has demonstrated the effectiveness of prayer as a medium for cognitive change toward optimism and increased health, both emotional and physical. This study explored the effect of specific spousal prayer in the lives of Catholic and Protestant Christian married couples on their level of marital satisfaction by using a nonradomized control group pretest-posttest design.

This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Marital satisfaction is paramount to a loving and long-lasting married life. The absence of marital satisfaction can lead to poor health, relational stress, and, eventually, divorce. This predictive, correlational study sought to research the relationship between the adoption of a position of rightness, the practice of extrinsic religiosity, and how these factors influence the levels of marital satisfaction among Christian spouses in the United States of America. The researcher used the Brief Version of the Religious Orientation Scale- Revised (ROS-R) to assess the level of intrinsic and extrinsic religious activity of the sample population. To measure the independent variable of their adherence to relational rightness, the researcher used the Revised Sense of Relational Entitlement the community (SRE-R). For the dependent variable of marital satisfaction, the researcher used the Locke-Wallace Marital Assessment Test (LWMAT). Three findings emerged from the study with practical implications for clergy, counselors, and couples: the theme of “false friends”, “religious amplification”, and “one size fits half”. The study concludes that an inflated sense of relational entitlement and extrinsic religiosity negatively impact the marital satisfaction of married Christian couples in the United States.

This book was released on 2020 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research on marital satisfaction has been limited to Caucasian couples in a middle and upper socioeconomic status. Because values differ throughout ethnicities, and religious commitment rather than personal satisfaction contributes to higher levels of marital satisfaction, understanding these values and differences may help developers in the field of couple relationship education programs strengthen their approach to helping Christian couples develop skills that contribute to marital satisfaction. The purpose of this research is to examine if marital setting, ethnicity and Couple Relationship Education (CRE) and Marriage Relationship Education (MRE) affect marital satisfaction in Christian couples. The participants in this study will involve 65 Christian individuals married for at least five years who reside in a culturally diverse urban setting in South Florida. This research will include a self-report survey, The Index of Marital Satisfaction (IMS), Locke-Wallace Marital Adjustment Test (LWMAT) and the Marital Instability Index (MII).
Book Synopsis Effectiveness of an Integrative-positive Marital Program in the Enrichment of Relationship Among Selected Married Couples by : Wilson G. Chakkyath

Book excerpt: For many couples, marriage begins as a source of happiness and fulfillment, but gradually it becomes a source of frustration and despair. Subsequently, they fail to experience optimal level of marital relationship functioning. Positive psychology, a thriving branch of psychology, promotes positive constructs and strategies to enrich the level of well-being of people. In this background, the purpose of this study was to come up with an Integrative-Positive Marital Program (IPMP) for couples and to determine its effectiveness in enriching their marital relationship. The researcher utilized the true experimental research method, specifically between subjects: two independent group design, administering pre-tests and post-tests. This design determines if there were significant differences in the subjects' level of marital relationship before and after the administration of the intervention program. The study used Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS) and eight factors of the Marital Satisfaction Inventory, Revised (MSI-R) in measuring the level of marital relationship. A total of 30 selected couples from Caloocan, Metro Manila were randomly assigned to control and experimental groups. The experimental group was given eight weeks long intervention program, IPMP which was mainly anchored on two positive constructs, gratitude and forgiveness. The data analysis was done using mean scores, paired samples statistics, t-test for independent samples and Cohen's d. The statistical analysis between the pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental group showed significant difference and its post-test mean scores indicated siginificant increase in the quality of marital relationship. hence, the study suggests that the Integrative-Positive Marital program (IPMP) was effective in the enrichment of the marital relationship.
