The firms try to outdo each other by way of differentiation in terms of the food that they process and produce. So they continuously strive to adapt to the environmental changes and for this purpose, reforms have to be employed on the different strategies adopted so as to survive in this industry. The study is about finding the responses to these strategies that are used in facing competition in this sector and it also aims to highlight the nature of such competition. Study was done by collecting primary data from the units on the three competition strategies that is Cost Leadership, Product Differentiation and Focus and the different factors on each of these three strategies along with its application in their business. The data is collected through questionnaire and it was found that different sectors of food processing units use different techniques to face competition. The techniques used depend upon a lot of factors like type of customers, the product that they produce, the quality and services offered by them to their customers. The study showed the different relationships between the competitive strategies that the units followed with education, nature of the industry and the size of the business. The study revealed that Product Differentiation is the most preferred strategy which was adopted to face the competition by the food processing units.
