Download or read book Digital Supply Chains written by Götz G. Wehberg and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-07-28 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a practical guide to digital supply chain modelling, demonstrating an agile approach to how such models can be applied to any manufacturing company to build competitive advantage, facilitate new business models and drive towards Industry 4.0. The agile approach of the book provides an attractive alternative to the conventional country-by-country deployment of S/4 HANA and other relevant technologies. This book contains the expertise Gotz G. Wehberg has amassed over 20 years as a senior partner in a leading consulting company, working across industries and with globally recognized clients, advising on digitization. In it, he explains the scientific roots of digital supply chain management such as holism, cybernetics, self-organization and evolutionary theory to inform a deep understanding that can drive a supremely innovative strategy for Industry 4.0. Beyond strategy, Wehberg introduces the practical tools and technologies used in supply chain modelling, for example, sensors, big data, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, as well as a reference framework that categorizes the technologies, together with the latest concepts and tools, such as DDMRP, predictive S&OP, pattern recognition, autonomous logistics and Lean. This framework supports decision making for developing supply chains in an end-to-end and cross-functional fashion, providing clear guidance for executives and managers on how to design supply chains for the future.
Book Synopsis Global Competition Enforcement by : Paulo Burnier da Silveira
Download or read book Global Competition Enforcement written by Paulo Burnier da Silveira and published by Kluwer Law International B.V.. This book was released on 2019-10-17 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Global Competition Enforcement New Players, New Challenges Edited by Paulo Burnier da Silveira & William Evan Kovacic In a short span of years, the landscape of global competition has changed significantly. In particular, international cooperation in competition law enforcement has greatly strengthened the battle against abuse of dominance, cartels, anticompetitive mergers and related political corruption. This thoroughly researched book explains the current situation regarding joint investigations, identifies common problems and considers possible solutions and future developments. In addition to covering issues of competition policy, its authors look in detail at practice in both merger and conduct investigations in a variety of countries. The following aspects of the subject and more are examined in depth: the interface between antitrust and anti-corruption; the digital economy’s challenges to competition authorities; convergent aims and rules among different competition authorities; regional organizations with competition mandates; competition neutrality and state-owned enterprises; and leniency programmes. Although necessarily there is considerable information on major antitrust regimes like those of the United States and the European Union, chapters by local experts highlight lessons to be learned from the work of competition authorities in five continents including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, India, Japan, Mauritius, Mexico, Peru and South Africa. The contributors include competition enforcers, regulators, academics, practitioners and leading commentators from a range of jurisdictions. Adding up to an authoritative analysis from the enforcer’s perspective, the studies presented in the book clarify the approaches and priorities of competition enforcement authorities – including those of major emerging economies – and provide expert guidance on dealing with transnational investigations. Antitrust lawyers, corporate counsel and interested academics as well as policymakers will benefit immeasurably from this book’s wealth of informative detail.

Book Synopsis Financial Services and Preferential Trade Agreements by : Mona Haddad
Download or read book Financial Services and Preferential Trade Agreements written by Mona Haddad and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2010-06-09 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book fills a large gap in the literature on trade in services. It focuses on the dynamics of trade and investment liberalization in a sector of considerable technical and regulatory complexity financial services. This volume chronicles the recent experiences of governments in Latin America that have successfully completed financial services negotiations through preferential trade agreements. One of the unique features of this book is the three in-depth country case studies Chile, Colombia, and Costa Rica all written by trade experts who led the negotiations of their respective countries in financial services. The authors offer analytical insights into the substantive content of the legal provisions governing financial market opening and the way such provisions have evolved over time and across negotiating settings. The studies describe how each of the three governments organized the conduct of negotiations in the sector, the extent of preparatory work undertaken before and during negotiations, and the negotiating road maps that were put in place to guide negotiators. Additional chapters complement the case studies by examining the evolving architecture of trade and investment disciplines in financial services and how best to prepare for negotiations in this sector. 'Financial Services and Preferential Trade Agreements' aims to provide practical lessons for policy makers, trade experts, and negotiators in developing countries who are involved in negotiating trade in financial services in the context of regional trade agreements. Academics and development practitioners interested in trade negotiations will also find the information valuable.

Book Synopsis Data Brokers by : Federal Trade Commission
Download or read book Data Brokers written by Federal Trade Commission and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2015-03-11 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this report, the Federal Trade Commission discusses the results of an in-depth study of nine data brokers. These data brokers collect personal information about consumers from a wide range of sources and provide it for a variety of purposes, including verifying an individual's identity, marketing products, and detecting fraud. Because these companies generally never interact with consumers, consumers are often unaware of their existence, much less the variety of practices in which they engage. By reporting on the data collection and use practices of these nine data brokers, which represent a cross-section of the industry, this report attempts to shed light on the data broker industry and its practices. For decades, policymakers have expressed concerns about the lack of transparency of companies that buy and sell consumer data without direct consumer interaction. Indeed, the lack of transparency among companies providing consumer data for credit and other eligibility determinations led to the adoption of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ("FCRA"), a statute the Commission has enforced since its enactment in 1970. The FCRA covers the provision of consumer data by consumer reporting agencies where it is used or expected to be used for decisions about credit, employment, insurance, housing, and similar eligibility determinations; it generally does not cover the sale of consumer data for marketing and other purposes. While the Commission has vigorously enforced the FCRA, 1 since the late 1990s it has also been active in examining the practices of data brokers that fall outside the FCRA.

Download or read book Regulatory Competition in Contract Law and Dispute Resolution written by Horst Eidenmüller and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2013-08-01 with total page 524 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In many regions of the world and across various fields, law has become a product. Individuals and companies seek attractive legal regulations and countries advertise their legal wares globally as they compete for customers. To analyse this development and to develop policy recommendations with respect to contract law and dispute resolution a conference was held in Munich in October 2011, bringing together leading scholars in the field of contract law and dispute resolution from the US and Europe. This book presents the papers and main comments produced for that conference. The chapters include important papers on, inter alia, law and economic theory, legal transplants, theories of private law, choice of law, the characterisation of contract law and the English and American civil procedural traditions.
