Book Synopsis Interact Treatment Manual & Participant Workbook by : Melinda L. Lake
Download or read book Interact Treatment Manual & Participant Workbook written by Melinda L. Lake and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2014-06-02 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PSYCHOLOGY InterACT Treatment Manual & Participant Workbook for Addictive Disorders based on the self-help theory of Jim Maclaine. Melinda L. Lake This treatment manual has been developed for health professionals working with people suffering from addictive disorders to develop a self-help recovery process. It includes practical session guides and worksheets for participants. It follows the therapy methods of author psychologist Melinda L. Lake, in which participants undertake all 15 sessions in sequence, ideally over a five day period. The modules are best undertaken in a small group setting of 8 to 12, however are easily adapted for use in private practice. People suffering directly from addiction may also find this manual helpful. The InterACT Programme is a treatment protocol specifically targeting the addicted brain. It links the psycho-education of current neuroscience with cognitive therapy and the therapeutic principles of Acceptance Commitment Therapy. It is an inter-personal (group based) treatment method which lays the foundation for a solid self-help recovery process, and it moves participants through Prochaska & DiClementes (1982) stages of change from a contemplative state to the maintenance stage. It aims to break the pathological attachment to the intoxicated state and the various defensive processes that protect that attachment. The approach is based on the Interact Therapy Program devised by Psychologist Jim Maclaine in the 1980s. A programme that successfully treated thousands of patients with addictions and emotional disturbances for several decades in Australian accredited private hospitals. For more information on this treatment approach or implementing the programme at your facility please contact the author at www.re-psycle.com.au

Download or read book SIMSOC: Simulated Society, Participant's Manual written by William A. Gamson and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2000-07-24 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The official guide to SIMSOC, the dynamic group simulation game whose “potential for stimulating the learning process is staggering” (Teaching Sociology), in which players grapple with the challenge of governing society. In SIMSOC, players confront issues like abuse of power, justice, diversity, trust, and leadership as they negotiate their way through labor-management strife, political turmoil, and natural disasters. Success or failure is dependent upon decisions made by players and the creativity of the group—and every game is a teaching tool. To be successful, players must utilize every basic social process from cooperation and reward to threat and punishment. SIMSOC will make participants ask questions about social control, and bring everyday experience and deeper understanding to even the most arcane social and organizational theory. Included in this Fifth Edition of SIMSOC's Participant's Manual are instructions for playing, materials for play, study questions based on participation, and selected readings about simulation games, leadership, and social processes. New to the Fifth Edition are additional size levels to accommodate groups of up to ninety participants with simplified rules and readings by authors from Nicholas Lemann to Robert Putnam.

Download or read book Manual for facilitators written by László Milutinovits and published by Council of Europe. This book was released on 2022-03-23 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Council of Europe youth sector aims at enabling young people across Europe to actively uphold, defend, promote and benefit from the Council of Europe’s core values of human rights, democracy and the rule of law, notably by strengthening young people’s access to rights, deepening youth knowledge and broadening youth participation. The activities of the European Youth Centres of Budapest and Strasbourg play a central role in the education and training of young ‘multipliers’ of Council of Europe values. The core of these activities is the programme of study sessions, week-long intercultural non-formal learning activities that are held in cooperation with European youth organisations and networks. These activities bring to the Youth for Democracy programme of the Council of Europe the unique experiences, expectations and concerns of young people regarding contemporary issues and challenges that affect their access to rights and of participating in all spheres of society. The study sessions of the European Youth Centres have been trendsetters in European youth work and remain a benchmark for intercultural youth activities. This manual is published to support the quality of study sessions and other educational activities in the Youth for Democracy programme. Preparing facilitators and developing their competences is one of the essential prerequisites for enabling exchanges of views and dialogical learning, preparing the participants to act as multipliers in their day-to-day lives, and ultimately contributing to the values and priorities of the Council of Europe and its youth sector. This Manual for Facilitators provides essential information, insights and practical tips in the planning and delivering of non-formal education intercultural activities while taking into account essential approaches of intercultural learning, human rights education and youth participation. This manual is a contribution to the quality of intercultural non-formal education activities of youth organisations and at making those activities a truly learning experience for young people in the Council of Europe.
