Download or read book My Friend Manny written by Big Adam and published by PageFree Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2002-03 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Author ?Big Adam? was born and raised in Cherokee, North Carolina, and attends Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama. He plans to graduate in May 2003 with a degree in Journalism. He loves to write, go bowling, take long walks alone late at night, read, go to church, cats, driving alone late at night, and is a huge fan of Godzilla, Garfield, and race car driver Jeff Gordon. He also serves as editor of the university newspaper. He started to write at the young age of four when he discovered the wonder of pens and pencils. His first stories were written and illustrated on plain white paper and stapled together. By age nine, he had written a story about a young boy who was the victim of sexual harassment from a babysitter. It was a concept way ahead of his own time and knowledge. His writings soon became more vivid and more chillingly realistic, possibly due to years of child abuse and being harassed at school by both teachers and peers. After one of his stories was discovered in his bedroom, its realism content sent his folks into a fury. They threatened him if he ever wrote something like that ever again, which was nothing more than the truth of what he was going through at the time. After that, he had to write and express himself in secret, when he was certain nobody would know that he was still cultivating his talent as a writer. He was finally removed from this abusive environment when he was 12. A trip to the beach in 1993 sparked his imagination like nothing else. The idea for one of his first novels was born, and it would take him another seven years to finish. That novel, The Writer, appeared in Spring 2001. He has also started several other novels and he vows tofinish all of them.

Oh, she said, I was just so happy to be free and so relieved you didnt want to eat me that I just started laughing. Eat you?! Oh, no! Oh, yuck! Oh, gross! No way! said Manny Bear, in a very shocked voice. Yuck? What do you mean.YUCK! the little white rabbit asked in a huffy tone. Dont you think I would taste good? Whats wrong with me? I am not gross or yuck! Then realizing it might sound as if she were inviting him to have a taste she changed her mind. In a tiny voice, she said, Never mind. Im sure I must taste just awful anyway. The little white rabbit sat up and offered her tiny paw to Manny Bear. He took it very gently in his much bigger paw. She said, My name is Missy Rabbit and I am very pleased to meet you. Thank you for saving me. Then they looked at each other and began to laugh all over again. By the time they finished laughing they were the best of friends. They were Forever Friends."
Book Synopsis Shackled Cries by : Shirley Ann Williams
Download or read book Shackled Cries written by Shirley Ann Williams and published by ArchwayPublishing. This book was released on 2013-10-23 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nathan pulled into the driveway of the parsonage, taking notice of the patrol car parked at the curb. Glancing toward the porch, he saw his friend posturing his head in his hands in a grievous manner. "I didn't know where else to go. I..." "Nathan, I saw the empty room. She's gone, and there's not a thing I can do about it. I shouldn't have gone to the office...not at that hour. If only I had gone to the hospital instead. I could have talked to her one last time. At least touch her hand and tell her how I feel. Now, she'll never know..." Nathan sensed that Sarge was interpreting what Dr. Gill had yet to say by his frame of reference: the empty room. Nathan was privy to information he thought Sarge knew about. It was only upon witnessing the anguished look on his friend's face that he knew Sarge had only partial news; the rest was left unsaid with the abrupt interruption at the hospital. "Sarge, we need to take a ride." As Nathan pulled into the vistor's parking space, Sarge knew where he was; but it was a place he didn't want to be. He never wanted to walk her halls again. He had left with a broken heart and he could not...would not...go back. Not after what had happened. Tonight, before his very eyes, Nathan was seeing Sarge in that troubled zone of confinement in which he had no control. The schedule had been made, written by God Himself; a time for complete revelation of the truth; the truth concerning Nellie Turner. Yet, why such turmoil within him? Why was he feeling so angry? He had prayed...God had spoken.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After Suharto gained power in Indonesia in the mid-1960s, he stayed as the country’s president for more than three decades, helped by the powerful military, hefty foreign aid and support from a coterie of cronies. A pivotal business backer for his New Order government was Liem Sioe Liong, a migrant from China, who arrived in Java in 1938. A combination of the Suharto connection, serendipity and personal charm propelled him to become the wealthiest tycoon in Southeast Asia. This is the story of how Liem built the Salim Group, a conglomerate that in its heyday controlled Indonesia’s largest non-state bank, the country’s dominant cement producer and flour mill, as well as the world’s biggest maker of instant noodles. The book features exclusive input from Liem, who died in 2012, and his youngest son, Anthony Salim. It traces the founder’s life and the group’s symbiosis with Suharto, his generals and family. After the tumultuous 1997–98 Asian financial crisis sparked Suharto’s fall and a backlash against the strongman’s cronies, Anthony staved off the crushing of the debt-laden group. Told in a journalistic style, the story of the Salim Group provides insights into Suharto’s New Order. For business executives, students and anyone with an interest in Southeast Asia’s largest economy, the volume makes a valuable contribution towards understanding the country’s modern history.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wolfhilde's Hitler Youth Diary is the chronicle of a girl growing up in Munich during the most volatile time in world history. WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID ABOUT THE DIARY For an in depth review of The Diary, please visit The Herald Palladium. Initially, the material upset me emotionally in an unexpected way. It took me some time to re-read the diary entries one by one to gain a calmer perspective. Of course, for 60 years or longer I have been aware of the strategies and tactics, the techniques and methods applied and utilized by the Nazi regime to contaminate and poison the minds and souls of peoplebeginning with children from the age of 10with its fierce, all-embracing ideology. Never, before reading Wolfhilde's Hitler Youth Diary, have I been confronted with such massive, monstrous evidence as to what the Nazi regime was doing to usand how they did it. What is presented here in the diary of a girl from 13 through 21 years of age is a textbook exampleconcrete evidenceof how they did it. Wolfgang Schleich, 1928- Journalist. Retired since 1990 from Radio Free Europe, where he worked for almost 35 years as a reporter, editor, traveling correspondent and head of the networks Berlin Bureau.

Students, particularly medical students or those in pastoral ministry or other health care disciplines, will find this book a unique, rich resource. Senior learners will find the essays helpful to work through their own history of decision-making, grief, loss. The essays provoke discussion and often closure for painful issues.
