Download or read book MAGIC II: An Automated General Purpose System for Structural Analysis written by Stephen Jordan and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An automated general purpose system for analysis is presented. This system, identified by the acronym 'MAGIC II' for Matrix Analysis via Generative and Interpretive Computations, is an extension of structural analysis capability available in the initial MAGIC System. MAGIC provides a powerful framework for implementation of the finite element analysis technology and provides diversified capability for displacement, stress, vibration and stability analyses. The matrix displacement method of analysis based upon finite element idealization is employed throughout. Ten versatile finite elements are incorporated in the finite element library. These are frame, shear panel, triangular cross-section ring, trapezoidal cross-section ring (and core), toroidal thin shell ring (and shell cap), quadrilateral thin shell and triangular thin shell elements. Additional elements include a frame element, quadrilateral plate and triangular plate elements which can be used for both stress and stability analysis. The finite elements listed include matrices for stiffness, mass, incremental stiffness prestrain load, thermal load, distributed mechanical load and stress.

Book excerpt: An automated general purpose system for analysis is presented. This system, identified by the aconym 'MAGIC' for 'Matrix Analysis via Generative and Interpretive Computations, ' provides a flexible framework for implementation of the finite element analysis technology. Powerful capabilities for displacement, stress and stability analyses are included in the subject MAGIC System for structural analysis. The matrix displacement method of analysis based upon finite element idealization is employed throughout. Six versatile finite elements are incorporated in the finite element library. These are: frame, shear panel, triangular cross-section ring, toroidal thin shell ring, quadrilateral thin shell and triangular thin shell elements. These finite element representations include matrices for stiffness, incremental stiffness, perstrain load, thermal load, distributed mechanical load and stress.

Book Synopsis An Assessment of Current Capability for Computer Analysis of Shell Structures by : Richard F. Hartung
Download or read book An Assessment of Current Capability for Computer Analysis of Shell Structures written by Richard F. Hartung and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report contains an assessment of current shell analysis capability. The assessment is based on work conducted at the Lockheed Palo Alto Research Laboratory under contract to the Air Force Flight Dynamics Laboratory. In addition to surveying the open literature, information for the study was gathered during a series of visits made to organizations throughout the United States at which there is an active shell analysis research effort. More than 40 industrial concerns, government agencies and universities have been visited to date. During each visit, technical personnel working in the area of shell analysis were interviewed to determine the scope of their present analysis capability, to learn of current research activities and to discuss computer methods of shell analysis in general. Information so obtained is summarized in a series of briefs which appear in the Appendix of this report.
