Book excerpt: This open access book addresses the current technical problems of low efficiency of emergency site information collection, lack of flexibility of emergency information interaction, lack of fusion analysis technology and disaster loss prediction model, and low intelligence of emergency auxiliary decision making. The content contains research on multiple information collection technology of power grid disaster loss, fusion analysis and prediction technology of power grid disaster loss information, and real-time information interaction technology between emergency site and command center in this work. This book illustrates the process of developing a prototype system for grid disaster perception and emergency command, which realizes the functions of grid disaster perception and emergency auxiliary decision-making and visualization command. The prototype intelligent perception and emergency command system for power grid disasters has been piloted in several units. It provided support for disaster loss prediction, disaster damage perception, and emergency command auxiliary decision-making in the earthquake in Sichuan, China, as well as the heavy rainfall in Zhejiang, China and Typhoon No. 9 "Lupi" that registered in Fujian, China, which significantly improved the emergency disposal Work efficiency.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who, what, and where perceives, and how? What are the sedimentations, inscriptions, and axiologies of animal, human, and machinic perception/s? What are their perceptibilities? Deleuze uses the word ‘visibilities’ to indicate that visual perception isn’t just a physiological given but cues operations productive of new assemblages. Perceptibilities are, by analogy, spatio-temporal, geolocative, kinaesthetic, audio-visual, and haptic operations that are always already memory. In the case of strong inscriptions, they are also epigenetic events. In physics, resonance is the tendency of a system to vibrate with increasing amplitudes at certain frequencies of excitation. In cybernetics and in theories of technology, it refers to systems’ feedback. In Native science, resonance denotes the axiology of positions and events. It’s a form of multi-species perception that emphasises emergent directionality and protean mnemonics. This transdisciplinary volume brings together key theorists and practitioners from media theory, Native science, bio-media and sound art, philosophy, art his- tory, and design informatics to examine: a) the becoming-technique of animal– human–machinic perceptibilities; and b) micro-perceptions that lie beneath the threshold of known perceptions yet create energetic vibrations. The volume shows distributed perception to be a key notion in addressing the emergence and peristence of plant, animal, human, and machine relations.

Book excerpt: In today’s real-world applications, there is an increasing demand of integrating new information and knowledge on-demand into model building processes to account for changing system dynamics, new operating conditions, varying human behaviors or environmental influences. Evolving fuzzy systems (EFS) are a powerful tool to cope with this requirement, as they are able to automatically adapt parameters, expand their structure and extend their memory on-the-fly, allowing on-line/real-time modeling. This book comprises several evolving fuzzy systems approaches which have emerged during the last decade and highlights the most important incremental learning methods used. The second part is dedicated to advanced concepts for increasing performance, robustness, process-safety and reliability, for enhancing user-friendliness and enlarging the field of applicability of EFS and for improving the interpretability and understandability of the evolved models. The third part underlines the usefulness and necessity of evolving fuzzy systems in several online real-world application scenarios, provides an outline of potential future applications and raises open problems and new challenges for the next generation evolving systems, including human-inspired evolving machines. The book includes basic principles, concepts, algorithms and theoretic results underlined by illustrations. It is dedicated to researchers from the field of fuzzy systems, machine learning, data mining and system identification as well as engineers and technicians who apply data-driven modeling techniques in real-world systems.

This book was released on with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Healthier foods have received unprecedented attention in the last couple of years. Different units of food processing assure physicochemical stability and microbiological safety, and simultaneously result in significant modifications in the composition and structure of food matrices, followed by the variations in nutrition and health properties such as intestinal bioaccessibility and bioavailability of functional small molecules of interests. Therefore, the correlation between extrinsic processing factors and composition-structure-properties response has been one of the focuses of food science research, largely relying on food matrices and the applied technique types. In this regard, thermal conditions receive the most attention considering its generalization and high applicability. For current food industries, multiple processing techniques, process strategies, and the combined approaches have been largely proposed, e.g., the uses of emerging external fields including sound, electric and plasma fields. Resultantly, the presence of new-type physico-chemical interaction behavior of minor/major components and composition-structure-property modifications exerted by emerging processing methods or patterns require more elaborate characterization, analysis and summarization over the response of quality, nutritional and health properties of final products. This Research Topic encourages researchers to submit Original Research and Review articles highlighting the roles of processing-induced physico-chemical modifications and interaction behavior of different intrinsic food components, particularly at molecular levels, in regulating the changes of quality, storability, nutrition and health characteristics of food products. Researchers working on the development of analysis, evaluation and characterization techniques to tackle issues related to complicated network of chemical changes, microstructural imaging and modeling as well as in vitro / in vivo nutrition effects are also encouraged to contribute. Healthier food can be obtained via food re-formulation and microstructure designing associated with processing parameters, relying on the accumulation of knowledge about the correlation between food structure, gastrointestinal fate of nutrients and satiety response. This Research Topic welcomes original research articles, reviews, systematic reviews, technology and code, and methods, covering, but not limited to, the following themes: - Novel characterization techniques applied to monitor processing effects; - Metabolic and omic characterization of bio-processing foods; - Characterization of composition-structure-property relation of newly developed food resources during processing; - Chemical modifications of food components (e.g., protein, lipid, carbohydrates, phytochemicals, etc.) during traditional thermal processing and emerging nonthermal processing processes or the combined patterns; - Effects of the chemical modifications during processing on nutrition and health; - Interaction between food components as affected by processing parameters, as well as its effects on nutritional properties (e.g., digestibility, bioaccessibility, bioavailability, etc.); - Food safety challenges and strategies for processing and preservation processes.
