Book excerpt: A hot virus that makes sex unstoppable... A trip to a party island for Spring Break turns hot for Annie and her friends when one of their number is infected with Lust Fever. Annie has never had sex in her life. She certainly hasn't had sex with another woman—and certainly not with multiple men and women at the same time. But Lust Fever doesn't care about inhibitions or restrictions. It doesn't want to use protection. It doesn't mind if hot-bodied co-eds rut for hours and hours. All Lust Fever wants is to reproduce…even if it uses people to do it. Soon, the entire island is taken over by the delicious affliction. Men become primal, horse-hung, virile studs made to mate for days. Women are aroused, needy, aching, fertile sexpots, desperate to be owned by the strong hunky men that the virus turns out. If Annie wants to keep her innocence intact, she'll have to be crafty indeed…but that's only if she doesn't catch Lust Fever. Because Lust Fever destroys the innocence of even the most uneducated young women…and there's no cure.

Book excerpt: When the virus hits, they can't stop themselves... Rebecca and Frank couldn't be more opposite. He's a randy, womanizing alpha-male handyman; she's a stodgy-but-lovely corporate lawyer with no time for sex. But when they volunteer for a special experiment, locked in a room together for hours, all their differences stop mattering. They don't know it, but they've been injected with a special virus. It floods through their bodies and lights their brains—and their loins—on fire. Rebecca's first-world desires slowly dissolve to nothing more than a need for a hot, virile male to fill her fertile body. And Frank's womanizing, use-them-and-lose-them manner transforms into fierce feelings of protection for the luscious woman he's made his mate. Their bodies overload on nonstop erotic pleasures, and they can't help but want more. They have no protection, and they don't care. What they're feeling is primal. Unstoppable. Heated and crafted from the elements of pure bliss. It's Lust Fever…and there's no cure.

This is a question recognized by people around the world. If typed into the internet, hundreds of examples appear. Many know that it comes from one of the best-known poems of the previous century, T. S. Eliot’s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. What many do not know is that Eliot dramatically shifted his views at the height of his fame for writing such dark poetry as this and The Waste Land, becoming a sincere, devoted Christian. While his poetry is famous because it expresses the loss of a spiritual center in European civilization, a careful reading of it reveals that he was struggling with his Christianity from the beginning, not rejecting it, but trying to make it fit into the contemporary world. If the reader works through Eliot’s love song for all of the esoteric meanings, as he demands, it quickly becomes evident that he intended it as a struggle between agape, amour and eros. Beginning it with a quote from Dante forces that into place. Though the protestant forms of Christianity have changed their views on these, the Roman Catholic holds fast. Eliot references Michelangelo in the poem, bringing in the great painter of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Most immediately recognize his name and work, but do not realize how he expressed a similar personal struggle between the desires of the flesh and the spirit. Both of them admired Dante’s Divine Comedy, and its inclusion of amour as a means to salvation. Dante’s work is generally seen as the greatest literature ever to come out of Italy. This book is an expanded revision of Seeking God in the Works of T. S. Eliot and Michelangelo. It explores how T.S Eliot struggled with the highest meanings of existence in his poetry and his own life, and perhaps managed to express what has become known as a modernist (and post-modernist) view of what Rudolph Otto designated the mysterium tremendum, the experience of a mystical awe, the experience of God.

Princess Scota, a confident warrior princess, does not believe in anything fey until she meets her people’s latest captive, Boyden, a proud male whose defiant nature she cannot tame. In a twist of fate, she becomes captive instead of captor. In a land covered in blood, the two battle for a truce between their warring people.

Warriors, from the mists of time? Dragons, of myth and legend? Or both? Taking a much-needed holiday in North Wales, journalist Chloe Evans discovers a castle not listed on any of the dozen or so maps she has of the area. The nearest thing she can find is the remains of a castle that used to be there but crumbled into ruin many centuries before. Her curiosity getting the better of her, Chloe decides to find out more about this imposing grey stone castle and anyone who might live there. The locals, she discovers, call it Pendragon Castle. When Chloe asks them more probing questions some say there are half a dozen male members of the original family still in residence, and that they’re brothers. Others claim there to be more, or less, than that number. But all, without fail, describe those men as being big and muscular, more handsome than any man has a right to be, with eyes capable of mesmerizing and seducing any woman who falls under their spell. Some of those people add a knowing wink, others a warning not to venture too near the castle, and to certainly keep her distance from the men living there. Visitors staying at the same small hotel as Chloe talk of seeing bright lights and helicopters landing on the mountain late at night, and of hearing strange noises that sound like the roars of wild animals. There was a story here, Chloe is certain of it. Whatever the story is regarding Pendragon Castle and the men who lived there, Chloe decides she isn’t leaving Wales until she’s discovered exactly what’s going on. While exploring the area around the castle, Chloe is challenged by the dark and taciturn Nathaniel. A man who fits the description of the castle’s inhabitants exactly: well over six feet tall, handsome as sin, with shoulders wide enough to fill a doorway, and eyes the colour of the clearest emerald. The moment she gazes into those mesmerizing green eyes Chloe realises she should have run while she still could.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Materia Magica approaches magic as a material endeavor, in which spoken spells, ritual actions, and physical objects all played vital roles in the performance of a rite. Through case studies drawing on objects excavated or discovered in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century at three Mediterranean sites, Andrew T. Wilburn identifies previously unknown forms of magic. He discovers evidence of the practice of magic in objects of ancient daily life, suggesting that individuals frequently turned to magic, particularly in times of crises. Studying the remains of spells enacted by practitioners, Wilburn examines the material remains of magical practice by identifying and placing them within their archaeological contexts. His method of connecting an analysis of the texts and inscriptions found on artifacts of magic with a close consideration of the physical form of these objects illuminates an exciting path toward new discoveries in the field.

Book excerpt: No one is more surprised than Philip Nason when an uprising occurs within the walls of a New York rehabilitation hospital. Moments after Phil, director of recreation, hears that a group of mostly paraplegic patients have staged a rebellion, he learns that the hospital's director is furious and thinks the patients were inspired by Phil's current-events reading program. Now with his job in jeopardy, Phil is torn between his desire to empower his patients and pleasing hospital bureaucrats. After the rebel patients beg Phil to create an activity program to help them win the respect of hospital staff and improve their lives, he eventually complies. When Phil acts on a hunch and pops the end of a paint brush into young quadriplegic Clayton Thomas's mouth, Clayton begins creating beautiful paintings inspired by the Bible. Phil, spurred by his artistic goals, begins developing a program to showcase the patients' artwork. Now all he has to do is convince the hospital's reluctant administrators that unleashing their patients' creativity is a good thing. In this inspiring story, hundreds of chronically ill patients realize the power of art while rising up against the stifling restrictions of institutional bureaucracy-with help from their determined recreational director.
