This book was released on 2023-12-08 with total page 43 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Book This is a book of true/false questions designed to educate both doctors and personal injury attorneys on the dynamic of collisions and the injuries occupants of vehicles suffer and why. Dr. Thomas E. Dow has spent years treating individuals involved in motor vehicle accidents and work-related injuries. His expertise shines through in his informative book Myths & Facts About Low Speed Collisions and Occupant Injury. About the Author Dr. Thomas E. Dow has a 40' Cruiser Yacht; his son Thomas F. Dow is his business partner and together they have three office locations on Long Island specializing in treatment of persons injured in motor vehicle accidents and work-related injuries. Dr. Dow is a cofounder and on the board of a group of 55 multidiscipline offices called Injurydocsnow.com with offices located all throughout Long Island and the boroughs specializing in the treatment of accident victims. He has also been a lecturer for decades regarding collision dynamics and occupant injury. Praise for Myths & Facts About Low Speed Collisions and Occupant Injury I am an attorney in New York and have been practicing for over 20 years. Dr. Dow’s ability to testify in support of his patient treatment protocols is only rivaled by his ability to virtually cripple attempts of cross-examination. Simply put, when Dr. Dow is on the stand, I don’t need to do much or say much. - Angelo Rizzo, Esq. The insurance companies and their attorneys often portray soft tissue injuries as mere sprains and strains with limited duration. This is especially true when your client's case involves low speed impacts with minimal damage. Dr. Thomas Dow has finally set the record straight with a concise yet copious book, which every personal injury practitioner who handles motor vehicle accidents will find indispensable. - Charles Bilello, Esq. Dr. Thomas Dow is an authority on spinal injuries and as an expert has helped me maximize the value on many cases. Insurance companies have been promulgating and disseminating propaganda about low impact and minimal property damage accidents not being able to cause much occupant injury, They consistently insist that a plaintiff cannot be seriously injured in those types of accidents. Dr. Dow’s book is filled with conclusatory statements about low impact collisions based on medical and scientific evidence which acts as a guide on how to overcome all of the arguments insurance companies use to try to diminish the value of these cases. James M. Cammarasana, Esq.

Download or read book Low Speed Automobile Accidents written by Alan J. Watts and published by Lawyers & Judges Publishing. This book was released on 2003 with total page 797 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written for the reconstructionist, attorney, automotive engineer, or other interested professional, it examines the science of reconstructing and analyzing a low speed automobile accident. Learn how to analyze accidents that result in little or no vehicle damage, how the final position of a vehicle indicates speed much higher than the driver claims and what are potential injuries and threshold loads for injury to various parts of the body arise from low speed collisions. Dr. Watts explains basic concepts of physics, and then applies them to accident reconstruction. The text will be readily understood by any reader with a basic understanding of accident reconstruction, however, full details and equation derivations are provided for those with either higher technical education or a wish to more fully understand the issues.

Current efforts to address road safety are minimal in comparison to this growing human suffering. This report presents a comprehensive overview of what is known about the magnitude, risk factors and impact of road traffic injuries, and about ways to prevent and lessen the impact of road crashes. Over 100 experts, from all continents and different sectors -- including transport, engineering, health, police, education and civil society -- have worked to produce the report. Charts and tables.

In this book, you will learn to take timely photographs properly and interpret them for revealing clues. You will learn how to conduct effective interviews, get the information you need, and detect when someone is being untruthful or evasive. You will know how biomechanics and occupant kinematics affect your case. Book Synopsis Commercial Motor Vehicle Driver Fatigue, Long-Term Health, and Highway Safety by : National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine
Download or read book Commercial Motor Vehicle Driver Fatigue, Long-Term Health, and Highway Safety written by National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2016-09-12 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are approximately 4,000 fatalities in crashes involving trucks and buses in the United States each year. Though estimates are wide-ranging, possibly 10 to 20 percent of these crashes might have involved fatigued drivers. The stresses associated with their particular jobs (irregular schedules, etc.) and the lifestyle that many truck and bus drivers lead, puts them at substantial risk for insufficient sleep and for developing short- and long-term health problems. Commercial Motor Vehicle Driver Fatigue, Long-Term Health and Highway Safety assesses the state of knowledge about the relationship of such factors as hours of driving, hours on duty, and periods of rest to the fatigue experienced by truck and bus drivers while driving and the implications for the safe operation of their vehicles. This report evaluates the relationship of these factors to drivers' health over the longer term, and identifies improvements in data and research methods that can lead to better understanding in both areas.
Book Synopsis Research Links Speed Increases with Increased Accidents and Accident Severity, Though Lower Speed Increases Only Effect Crashes Marginally by : Kenneth A. Winter
Download or read book Research Links Speed Increases with Increased Accidents and Accident Severity, Though Lower Speed Increases Only Effect Crashes Marginally written by Kenneth A. Winter and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 19 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Changing speed limits on low speed roads has little or no effect on crashes. Relationships between speed limit increases, accident rates and accident severity are complex and have not always been clearly understood in the past-especially due to countless other variables that can influence crash rates and severity, including: highway design, vehicle design, speed enforcement, environmental attributes, weather conditions, and characteristics of the driving population. After forty years of research there is still no consensus about the implications of raising speed and accident severity among studies that only explore only accident fatalities. In addition, few studies to date have provided adequate control of many other factors that can influence the findings of a before-after evaluation. However, the "ordered probit" model of evaluation is considered by some to be a legitimate approach to studying the effects of speed limit changes on crash injury severity. Seemingly simple questions regarding speed and accidents have proven difficult to answer. Do increases in speed limits at lower or higher speed levels result in increases in severity or crashes or of injuries suffered in those crashes? What are the implications for such speed increases on Virginia's secondary or rural roads where "low-speed increases" from 25-35 mph or 35-45 mph might be considered? A thorough literature search from the 1960s to the present reveals some widely held beliefs about speed limits and safety that may seem obvious, but are worth considering.
