Book Synopsis Low-Dielectric Constant Materials V: by : John Hummel
Download or read book Low-Dielectric Constant Materials V: written by John Hummel and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2014-06-05 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Interest in developing low-dielectric constant materials is driven by requirements from the microelectronics sector to improve performance in interconnections by reducing parasitic capacitance and cross talk. The continuing increase in density of semiconductor devices is becoming limited by the dielectric properties of the insulator which threatens to slow the rate of productivity. The requirement for dielectric constant is rapidly approaching an e value of 2.0, with continued improvement sought even below this level to maintain this progression, commonly known as Moore's Law. Synthetic methods of obtaining materials in this range are addressed in this book. The materials solution to the interconnect problem - changing the insulator to lower the dielectric constant from 4.0, the e of silicon dioxide - introduces a host of reliability concerns, as well as changes to the process of manufacturing semiconductor devices. Topics include: porous films - organic and inorganic; porous films - organic/low-k integration; low-k integration; low-k/advanced interconnect; low-dielectric constant materials and applications in microelectronics and low-k film property/integration.

This book was released on 2000 with total page 598 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume, the fifth in a popular series, features papers related to the development and utilization of materials with novel electrical, optical or magnetic properties. The field has experienced tremendous growth in the past years, and this volume provides a forum for materials scientists, chemists, physicists and engineers to assess the progress. In particular, light-emitting materials for displays are showing great promise for widespread commercialization. Developments in molecular engineering and self assembly, as well as in conducting polymers, are enabling better performance and greater scientific understanding of the phenomena underlying these advances. Improvements in electro-optic, photorefractive and two-photon absorbing materials are also being realized and are addressed here.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Luminescent materials are of interest to members of the spectroscopic, basic science, engineering and display communities. This book presents a wide range of topics from basic research of fluorescence to applications-driven research on phosphors and scintillators. Papers on various luminescent, fluorescent or phosphorescent mechanisms arising in inorganic crystalline and noncrystalline materials, as well as in organic materials, are featured. The use of fluorescence as a sensing technique has emerged as a sensitive and noninvasive way to probe biological activity or measure physical phenomena. To that end, progress in understanding fluorescence, the development of novel applications of fluorescence, and novel material structures are addressed. Phosphors for the emerging flat-panel-display industry are also highlighted. Topics include: inorganic phosphors; thin-film phosphors; synthesis, processing and characterization; mechanisms and defects; organic luminescence and theory and luminescence sensors.
