Anne Bel offers us a glimpse down the roads she and her friend Yeshua have travelled, and introduces us to many of the gardeners and strangers he has led her to, and led to her. The Owl and the Prince of Peace is filled with love, surprises, new understandings and hope.
Book Synopsis Nightmare in Hostage Hills by : Christina Mask
Download or read book Nightmare in Hostage Hills written by Christina Mask and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2017-11-20 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Sadly, Christina’s journey, and her children’s experience of being collateral damage, is not atypical. Kudos for her strength and bravery in putting her story out there as a cautionary tale for others.” (Dr. Susan Weitzman, author, Not to People like Us: Hidden Abuse in Upscale Marriages). “Christina Mask’s Nightmare is constructed around fragments from a life in agony as one woman attempts to escape abuse, retain her sanity, and regain the custody of three children the family court and her husband have taken from her. It’s all here—the daily records over months, then years; the diary entries; the self-blame; the excuses; the shame; the absurdist dialogues with family therapists; marginalia from readings or lectures or religious texts; letters pleadings with judges and lawyers and evaluators; poems; letters to and from the children, real and imagined; the reports that put her claims of abuse in quotations; and so, so much more. These pieces are loosely joined by a narrative and an interior monologue that I sometimes found too much to bear. But then I realized I was scanning something akin to a Picasso painting, whose underlying truth lay not in what was on the page, not the fragments, but in the hope that put them out here, no more evident than in the endlessly reasonable letters Mask writes to intractable foes. Mask has cast her eye on what Yeats termed ‘the broken, crumbling battlement’ of the self and lived to write it. As one director famously said about the sixty women and children crowded into her six-bedroom shelter, ‘If they can manage this, they can manage anything.’ Christina’s book gives us faith that she is right.” (Evan Stark, PhD, MSW. The writer is professor emeritus at Rutgers University, and author of Coercive Control: How Men Entrap Women in Personal Life [Oxford, 2007]).

Book excerpt: Expecting their nineteen-year-old son Carter home from work at any minute, Charmaine and her husband received the call that every parent dreads. Carter had been in a car accident. He died at the scene. Overcome by grief, Charmaine felt the need to find Carter in the weeks and months following his death. She began a frantic search for answers to her questions about what happens after death and where Carter is now. She needed to know that he was alright. Gradually, she became aware of strange occurrences. She smelled Carter’s scent at various times. She noticed the number six, Carter’s lucky number, showing up in unexpected places. Text messages from Carter were appearing on his friends’ phones. Then one night Charmaine received a written message from Carter. Through the help of meditation and focus, Charmaine began to communicate with Carter in spirit. Over time and with practice, their communication strengthened and Carter’s spirit communicated to Charmaine wisdom, truths, and insights about life and what comes after death. Encouraged and hopeful, Charmaine has reconnected with her son in spirit. She has been able to encourage and support her family as well as others in similar situations. Carter’s words to Charmaine, “I am more alive than anyone can imagine,” have assuaged her grief and have her thirsting for more contact with her son. Love You Mom is a deeply personal, beautiful interaction between mother and son that brings meaning to life and healing to the soul.

The full moon rose like unto a small pearl so gentle; so soft. Below stood I beside my wife's freshly dug grave and the statue of a woman clinging to the cross. I pondered our days in which we both labored under the sun. I recall all the blessings in our life that the Lord God had done. I remembered our trials; I recalled our victories and their cost. Yet what I remember the most is how through it all, my wife Leah forever in faith clinging to the cross. Now that she is gone and I this little man feel so alone. I think; I pray and I recall how God has always made the way. now I too know what I must do and that is like Leah... I am to cling to the cross each and every day. J. Allen Wilson 9/13/2008

Book Synopsis Inside of Me 2.0 by : Shellie R. Warren
Download or read book Inside of Me 2.0 written by Shellie R. Warren and published by Perez Linen. This book was released on 2024-10-11 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Twenty years ago, I wrote a book about my life. Something that Inside of Me and its sequel, Inside of Me 2.0 (and yes, there is a pun intended with that), have in common is when I sat down to write them, I wasn't exactly sure what was going to come out; I was going to tell my story, which only I can authentically do, and we would see how things would go. As far as Inside of Me goes, it ended up being, what I call, my "sexual autobiography". That's because, back then, sex and relationships consumed a lot of my life. Now, 20 years later, I realize that this offering is more about...how and why I ended up making so many of the decisions that I did once upon a time. And why so much is different now. Better too. Don't get me wrong: this book is still just as raw, candid and "oh well" as the first book was. Only now, I'm connecting some dots to give me an overall picture that has brought me to a place of real peace and full resolve...on so many levels. Now, I will give you a heads up that just like Inside of Me was a bit jarring for some, Inside of Me 2.0 follows suit on a somewhat grander scale. That's actually why I decided to forego the traditional route (a popular publisher, someone to write the foreword, others to review it, etc.). This is me, with no need for anyone's validation or approval. I was 29 when I wrote my first book and 49 and 50 when I wrote this one. Things are different because...they're supposed to be. So, if you read Inside of Me and you've always been curious about what happened to me since then or you've never heard of me before and you're wondering if I always write like I talk, check the book out. From family and friendships to spiritual conclusions and plenty of ah-ha moments along the way, in less than 200 pages, I will share where and who I am now...and why I love it so much...here.
