The migration crisis affects nearly eighty million people and represents a humanitarian catastrophe. How can we ignore the suffering of men, women, and children who are forcibly displaced worldwide? The book, Changing Stories, helps the reader to reflect on the migration crisis from a biblical perspective. It evaluates refugee ministry ongoing initiatives among the world’s most vulnerable people. Additionally, it analyzes the refugee ministry that the Arsenal Hill Presbyterian Church is developing with refugees from Syria, Iraq, the Congo, and Vietnam. The analysis uses as a framework the Best Practices for Christian Ministry among Forcibly Displaced People document proposed by the Refugee Highway Partnership (RHP). Throughout the book, the author answers the following questions: •How complex is the current migration crisis? •What does the Scripture say about displaced people? •What are some of the available tools for a refugee ministry? •How does a refugee ministry look in a local church? •What are some of the best practices for a refugee ministry? The book tells many stories of refugees from different backgrounds, which will help you hear voices representing hundreds of thousands of refugees who go unheard.
Book Synopsis God Created Man in His Image and Likeness by : Oried E. Graves
Download or read book God Created Man in His Image and Likeness written by Oried E. Graves and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2012-10-26 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everyone who reads the Bible must admit that it tells us to do things that we never have done and cannot do in our fleshly bodies. One reason is that God our Creator is telling us what He wants us to be and do as created in His image and likeness. Our purpose is in our image and likeness of God our Creator, not like the dust of the ground or the flesh of our parents. Most children dont know that they are created in the image and likeness of God, and their parents have not asked God for His spirit for their children so they can be taught this vital truth. The reason parents dont ask God for His spirit for their children is because they dont recognize the need for Him. There are several things mankind cannot do in the flesh, and they must recognize their origin in the image and likeness of God. Mankind must recognize being in the image and likeness of God to, first, love God with all their being and love his neighbors as himself; second, to obey God and his parents as required in Gods word; third, to trust God with all his heart; fourth, to worship God in spirit and in truth; and fifth, to glorify God in his body and spirit, which are God. The devil does not want mankind to know that he is created in the image and likeness of God because man will always defeat Satan and fulfill God's will.

Book Synopsis It Ain't You, The Battle is in the Air by : Alzina Mouton-Moore
Download or read book It Ain't You, The Battle is in the Air written by Alzina Mouton-Moore and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2016-11-21 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Lord instructed Alzina to write It Ain't You because it's a universal thing, not for just men. As I follow his instruction, he advised me that these battles were in the air. He walked me through step by step with the battles then the scriptures because these battles are not us. Therefore, It Ain't You: The Battle Is in the Air is all God. Even though there are many, many more, those are the ones He instructed me to work with. As we met every morning at three thirty, He downloaded me with the scriptures I had already used. And I told Him I used that scripture already, but I was obedient. I truly thank God for trusting me to write this book because as I was writing and studying, it helped me. He even allowed me to feel that these battles are in the air, and they are real. These battles are so real; only Jesus could heal, deliver, and set free and stop the battles from being attached and detaching the ones we are wearing. We talk about how the unsaved act and the so-called saved ones, and we judge but we can't those same battles could have been attached to us. Our families, friends, and people we don't know and even our enemies, and we think it's them but it's not. And when we think about a person in their right mind would never do some of the things that are happening in this world today if they were in their right mind. So I do love Jesus with all my heart, mind, and soul; and I need to be obedient to Him. May God truly minister to your hearts, minds, and spirits.

Download or read book Belle written by Sarah Price and published by Zebra Books. This book was released on 2017-10-31 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “So heartwarming and charming . . . an Amish novel that is a twist on the classic fairy tale Beauty and the Beast . . . beautiful and inspiring.” —Harlequin Junkie In author Sarah Price’s fresh and inspirational retelling of a beloved classic, a dutiful young Amish woman agrees to marry a notorious recluse for her family’s sake—but the consequences are more than either bargained for . . . To most townsfolk, he’s known simply as The Beast. Annabelle Beiler has little interest in gossip, but she’s heard about Adam Herschberger’s scars and his gruff, solitary ways. Though he sounds like a character from one of Belle’s treasured books, the man is real and, it turns out, just as unreasonable as the rumors claim. When a buggy accident wipes out the last of her daed’s money, forcing him to sell their farm, Adam buys it. Then he offers Belle a deal—marry him, and her family can keep their home. Everyone is shocked by Belle’s decision, but she’s determined to be a good fraa, cleaning Adam’s rundown house and tending the overgrown garden. Breaking through her new husband’s icy reserve will be another matter. Belle’s courage and strength are abundant, but it will take true faith to guide Adam back to the heart of his Amish community—and to the loving marriage they both deserve. “This was delightful! Beauty and the Beast is my favorite of the Disney princess stories. This Amish twist on the story was terrific.” —The Neverending TBR “An interesting glance into Amish culture with a fairy tale romantic twist.” —The Alley-Cat7
