Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the story of the extraordinary Hunter J. Marcus (my "four-legged son") Hunter lived for fifteen years and three months. He was a golden retriever and the typical lifespan for a "golden" is ten to twelve years, so he definitely had high mileage. His death was not sudden, violent nor unexpected-but was nonetheless tragic. I could not be more miserable because of the loss of a human child. I never thought of Hunter as a pet, and certainly not as a possession. He was a housemate, child, co-conspirator, fellow traveler, playmate and, most of all, my best buddy. He soared like an eagle, swam like a porpoise, ate like a shark and often thought like a human. Hunter understood dozens of English words and was very obedient when he chose to be. Golden retrievers are very smart, and very independent. Hunter knew exactly what he was supposed to do in any situation-and sometimes he was willing to do what he was supposed to do. We rewarded bad behavior because anything a dog does is cute! This book is a memorial, but it's fun, not morbid. It's a dog book that even cat fans will like. In addition to Hunter's life story, the book includes advice, humor, photos and emails from Doggie Heaven.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2016, like many millions of Americans, I had voted for Hillary Clinton to become our 45th president. And, like many millions of Americans, I assumed that there was no way that Donald Trump could beat her. In 2008 Trump wrote, "I know Hillary and I think she'd make a great president." During the 2016 presidential campaign he said, "She has to go to jail." If it were not for our peculiar and archaic Electoral College–plus last-minute interference from FBI Director James Comey just when Clinton's favorable poll ratings were moving up, and sabotage by Russia–Clinton would have become president. Trump frequently boasted about his "landslide" victory. In truth, his electoral win was no landslide at all. In the popular vote Clinton won by about 2.9 million votes–a margin of 2.1%. That's higher than the victories won by JFK, George W. Bush, Nixon and other recent American presidents. Jerome Kowalski, an attorney who has known Trump for more than 30 years, said, "Michael N. Marcus's powerful book is nothing short of a detailed bill of particulars of the evil Trump presents and why his reign of terror must be stopped."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Learn to communicate with your dog—using their language “Good reading for dog lovers and an immensely useful manual for dog owners.”—The Washington Post An Applied Animal Behaviorist and dog trainer with more than twenty years’ experience, Dr. Patricia McConnell reveals a revolutionary new perspective on our relationship with dogs—sharing insights on how “man’s best friend” might interpret our behavior, as well as essential advice on how to interact with our four-legged friends in ways that bring out the best in them. After all, humans and dogs are two entirely different species, each shaped by its individual evolutionary heritage. Quite simply, humans are primates and dogs are canids (as are wolves, coyotes, and foxes). Since we each speak a different native tongue, a lot gets lost in the translation. This marvelous guide demonstrates how even the slightest changes in our voices and in the ways we stand can help dogs understand what we want. Inside you will discover: • How you can get your dog to come when called by acting less like a primate and more like a dog • Why the advice to “get dominance” over your dog can cause problems • Why “rough and tumble primate play” can lead to trouble—and how to play with your dog in ways that are fun and keep him out of mischief • How dogs and humans share personality types—and why most dogs want to live with benevolent leaders rather than “alpha wanna-bes!” Fascinating, insightful, and compelling, The Other End of the Leash is a book that strives to help you connect with your dog in a completely new way—so as to enrich that most rewarding of relationships.

Book excerpt: #1 New York Times Bestseller “Funny and smart as hell” (Bill Gates), Allie Brosh’s Hyperbole and a Half showcases her unique voice, leaping wit, and her ability to capture complex emotions with deceptively simple illustrations. FROM THE PUBLISHER: Every time Allie Brosh posts something new on her hugely popular blog Hyperbole and a Half the internet rejoices. This full-color, beautifully illustrated edition features more than fifty percent new content, with ten never-before-seen essays and one wholly revised and expanded piece as well as classics from the website like, “The God of Cake,” “Dogs Don’t Understand Basic Concepts Like Moving,” and her astonishing, “Adventures in Depression,” and “Depression Part Two,” which have been hailed as some of the most insightful meditations on the disease ever written. Brosh’s debut marks the launch of a major new American humorist who will surely make even the biggest scrooge or snob laugh. We dare you not to. FROM THE AUTHOR: This is a book I wrote. Because I wrote it, I had to figure out what to put on the back cover to explain what it is. I tried to write a long, third-person summary that would imply how great the book is and also sound vaguely authoritative—like maybe someone who isn’t me wrote it—but I soon discovered that I’m not sneaky enough to pull it off convincingly. So I decided to just make a list of things that are in the book: Pictures Words Stories about things that happened to me Stories about things that happened to other people because of me Eight billion dollars* Stories about dogs The secret to eternal happiness* *These are lies. Perhaps I have underestimated my sneakiness!

Book excerpt: Golden Retrievers - Dog Books for Kids Table of Contents Introduction Chapter 1 Early History Chapter 2 Fascinating Features & Care Chapter 3 Amazing Golden Retriever facts Conclusion A Family's best friend Author Bio Dog Books for Kids Introduction "A dog is man's best friend, and vice versa." -Anonymous Golden Retrievers are considered 'the perfect family pet.' They are charming, warm, tolerant, versatile, intelligent and very friendly. A large size dog breed, they were originally bred as gun dogs and used during hunting to help "retrieve" game like ducks and waterfowl. As the name indicates, "retrievers" were used to "retrieve" things but their athletic skills go beyond hunting. For one thing, Retrievers love the water. It is almost instinctive to them and they will not hesitate to get wet. They thrive on activities that give them something to do. It can be a nice game of fetch, some fun at the beach, running around the yard or racing across an open field. Although bred as a part of working dogs, Golden retrievers are one of the top ten most popular dog breeds today. They are also well known for their participation in conformation shows. And this versatile nature extends beyond dog shows and into the home. For example, Golden Retrievers are used as guide dogs for the blind and hearing dogs for those who are impaired. Their skills include search and rescue and detection dogs. They love to play but this does not mean they are not trainable. Retrievers love to learn new things, so training your dog to accept new commands is a breeze! When it comes to relationships, the Retriever's gentle and patient demeanor makes them an excellent companion for children, and their affectionate nature will endear them to the entire family. Although exercise is required for this breed, it can enjoy calm indoor activities as well. And its tranquil nature makes it a delight no matter where you may be. For these reasons and many more, Golden Retrievers are highly recommended as a loyal and faithful companion. Their steadfast obedient and loyal nature is not only deserving of the title "man's best friend" but also... "Best family friend!"

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Im more convinced than ever that if youre going to write a book it must come from deep inside you. I believe thats so true regarding the writing of any good book, but particularly this volume. While my first published work The Seers House arrived in one single vision at 3 oclock in the morning, my second endeavour Miracle Dog; Miracle God took a lot longer to emerge. For over ten years following my first publication, I was caught up in the mission field in Romania and literally didnt have time to write a follow-up. Indeed, only after Id returned from Romania and been separated from my best friend Snowbell, our Golden Retriever Labrador, did I really begin to accept that another book may be about to be birthed. I couldnt shake off the writing of this book and so eventually I sat down and wrote it. Nevertheless, Miracle Dog; Miracle God hasnt been the easiest manuscript to create for various reasons. Trying to keep to my subject matter what God the Father taught me about Himself through the love of a dog, when there was so much more to tell about our Romanian endeavours, hasnt been straightforward. Writing each chapter as a parable was equally challenging, but in the end I think Ive managed to produce what has been within me since 2008. Finally, the emotion I experienced writing about this remarkable little dog was quite unexpected. On numerous occasions I would have to literally down tools and shed tears, while at other times I laughed out loud and so enjoyed reminiscing about happier moments with Snowbell. My desire is that Miracle Dog; Miracle God will make you laugh and cry, yet also instruct you about the amazing unconditional love of God. After all, thats exactly what happened to me when I was introduced to Snowbell, a beautiful gift from God to my life, if ever there was one.

Book excerpt: A 2019 Schneider Family Book Award Winner Based on a real-life partnership, the heartening story of the love and teamwork between a girl and her service dog will illuminate and inspire. Rescue thought he’d grow up to be a Seeing Eye dog — it’s the family business, after all. When he gets the news that he’s better suited to being a service dog, he’s worried that he’s not up to the task. Then he meets Jessica, a girl whose life is turning out differently than the way she'd imagined it, too. Now Jessica needs Rescue by her side to help her accomplish everyday tasks. And it turns out that Rescue can help Jessica see after all: a way forward, together, one step at a time. An endnote from the authors tells more about the training and extraordinary abilities of service dogs, particularly their real-life best friend and black lab, Rescue.
