Esta obra aglutina tanto a expertos jurídicos de la academia iusdeportivista (provenientes de la Filosofía del Derecho, el Derecho Administrativo, el Derecho Mercantil, el Derecho Penal o el Derecho Financiero y Tributario) como a destacados representantes de los operadores deportivos. En un primer bloque se aborda el rol del Derecho y la Administración pública ante los retos del deporte profesional y profesionalizado en la sociedad actual. A continuación, se exponen cuáles son estos retos en particular, debido entre otras cosas a la vis atractiva que provoca esta modalidad deportiva, en el terreno futbolístico (buen gobierno, intermediarios, arbitraje, prueba videográfica, tributación de los derechos de imagen, recursos financieros de los clubes y sociedades anónimas deportivas o aplicación de la Ley concursal), con una referencia final a la profesionalización del rugby en España. Por último, de manera monográfica se estudia el fraude y el dopaje como lacras del deporte profesional.
